tcj_jones Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 If Dunn can maintain the level of performance and enthusiasm that he showed in the FA Cup semi final, and in a few other games toward the end of the season, then he will have been an amazing signing. He has a lot to prove and a lot of competition for his place and I feel that he will try harder than ever. If he emulates his performance in the Semi, he will be a huge player for us next season.
JAL Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 You appear to have you changed your tune now their then JAL ? Prepared to give Dunny a chance after a full pre season behind him as many of us have said is when we can probably make a better judgement. Yes, but i think if Dunny does reasonably well in the first six games you'll all be saying told you so, but for me he'll be treading water after those first six games unless a miracle happens and Dunny finds that vital extra yard of speed that his game vitally needs for him to shine. If so, and Dunny stars, then i'll be shouting as loud as anyone' Dunny for England' and i will come on here and offer a sincere apology.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 With Dunny, I think that he will show us if he is upto it or not this season. He looks pretty good in pre season and is taking a few long range shots every game, something he didn't do often last season. I think he hit the bar against Wrexham and/or Arminia?

He looks pretty good in pre season and is taking a few long range shots every game, something he didn't do often last season. I think he hit the bar against Wrexham and/or Arminia? He had a fantstic shot on goal from about 40 yards out on the Rovers left wing in the game against Bolton at the Breezeblock. Just whistled past the far post with Jaski stranded. I think it got a slight deflection in flight, otherwise it was going in!
USABlue Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Oops wrong thread, I was looking for the transfer rumour stuff. I'll go and check the Dunny comes home thread, maybe it's there
gumboots Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Hard to discuss transfers though when there's not even a hint of a sniff of a rumour going round really. We've heard the Santa cruz and Beattie things and done them ad nauseam. We really want to be linked as a possible destination for someone even if it's not going to happen and we don't want it to. At least the panic "no thanks, I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole" reaction gives us something to talk about. At the moment we seem to be even more the forgotten team of the premiership than ever (along with Reading). I don't want us to panic buy but a little bit of panic speculation wouldn't go amiss.
Ronin Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 You could say that it's typical of the Hughes regime, as we don't hear a sniff of what's going on until it's nearly cut and dried. Don't remember hearing much about Maceo Rigters before hand, and nothing at all about Gunnar Nielsen.
gumboots Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 i know that's often how it works but to have no idea of who or what we're looking at does mean that threads like this end up as slanging matches between fans or rehashing of the same old discussions. In a way I'm glad I'm going on holiday soon as I'm bored with the same load of rubbish but at the same time addicted to it. Keep saying I won't look and then find myself back here not long after.
Ronin Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 . . . same load of rubbish but at the same time addicted to it. Keep saying I won't look and then find myself back here not long after. Yeah, totally agree. Always seem to get drawn back to this mb at some point or another.
philipl Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Pienaar's move to Everton debnied by his agent Rob Moore
daren Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 As I recall, unleaded mentioned that Sparky was notified of Pienaar's availability last summer. He decided not to go for him, could be for any number of reasons but mentioned were that he was lightweight. And this year he's not much better of a proposition because he'll be buggering off to the African Nations cup. Still, a good player who I'd have liked to see as a longer term purchase, to learn from Tugs. However, I don't think that Sparky's mind will have changed on this.
tcj_jones Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 I remember that now you've reminded me Daren. From what I've heard, he is a cracking player. Would be interesting if we were to go for him.
rebelmswar Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/t...sea/6904044.stm Robben buggering off to Spain.
tcj_jones Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 If Robben goes to Real Madrid for just £15 million, and in the current climate, that could well one of the best ever transfer deals in the Premier League's history. Robben has been held back by injury and Mourinho's temperament, but he truly is world class, one of the best wingers in the world. I'm staggered that A) he has been allowed to talk to anybody and that the fee is so low.

Our best move this summer is staying away from the market. Bent £16.5m compared with Henry £16m and Robben £15m - madness, utter madness. Add Koumas, Harewood and all the rest and there has been some strange transfers. I'm so glad we made our big movements in January. We are either very lucky or very clever.

Oh alright I will **** off, but I am entitled to be bored too.

speeeeeeedie Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 This LET article brings up some rather uninspiring names: Zamora and Camara. The funniest is reading the messageboard at the bottom.
Fife Rover Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 This LET article brings up some rather uninspiring names: Zamora and Camara. The funniest is reading the messageboard at the bottom. Yes you're right there. I had quite a laugh earlier reading that lot. Talk about the best brains of Blackburn and Bumley going head to head!!
JAL Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Well chaps i've slated Beattie, but from what i've seen of Zamora in the past two games at Ewood hes impressed greatly.. big, strong, powerful and full of commitment a true leader from the front. Surely Hughes and his staff can improve Zamora even further. If Rovers can attract Zamora at 26 years of age as opposed to Beattie at 30 years of age i'd be mightly impressed in fact swap Roberts for Zamora and Mark Hughes would have pulled off another amazing masterstroke in the transfer market greatly strengthening the team/squad .

I was just beginning to wonder if I had been halucinating, but when ever I have seen Zamora in action he has always struck me as a very useful striker. He has pace, strength and vision, and on the few occasions I have seen him he has looked dangerous to the opposition and usually scored as well. Admitted I have not seen him too often but he has impressed me as a possibly useful recruit for Rovers. I would say take a punt on him before Beattie as long as the price is right.
USABlue Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 S'funny, just the other day I was wondering why Zamora's name had not been thrown into the hat and lo and behold. He doesn't look too shabby to me when I watched him.
-foreverrovers- Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 granted zamora is the best out of the 'irons in the fire' that we supposedly have. he did very wel in west hams escape and was arguably their best player in the run-in after tevez. however i feel we should be aiming a little higher.i really think we should try and put a package together for defoe.i feel if it is done in the right way and with some thought we may just be in with a shout.i mean,i didnt expect bellamy to come here and when he did it was a very pleasent surprise,i know he had the welsh connection with bellamy, but could hughesy pull another rabbit from the hat i wonder???
