Transfer Fees are a Joke this season. No wonder Hughes is just lying back and letting everyone waste money. Last season Mido would have gone for about £2m. At this rate Bentley would be worth at least £15m!

Also despite all the millions being spent around the prem league clubs, I wouldnt say any of them have significantly strengthened their squads. Look at fulham, £20m on distinctly average players, Sunderland paying miles over the odds for players like chopra who wouldnt get into our first team anyway, Birmingham wasting £6m on mido etc etc. Only West Ham, Tottenham, Liverpool and Man Utd, I would say go into this season with a significantly better team than last year. The rest have just wasted millions. Looks like Reighters may be the bargain of the year again at 400k!

As much as I love the idea of our youth players getting a run out, and debys certainly has shown some worth... to rate him ahead of Rossi is daft.

cant remember having seen rossi play......love derbs though.....oooooh matty matty.....etc etc

Beattie just didn't get it going at all last year, but I think he is less of a reclaimation project than Jeffers was...so hopefully he could find his form at Ewood. I would personally be more excited if we could wrangle Rossi away...even on loan. That little rat Roeder hardly gave Rossi a kick of the ball, and we all know how well Rossi subsequently played at Parma.

Who ever we get to play up front I would prefer it to be a loan signing ala Nonda last year, we already have McCarthy, Roberts, Rigters and Derbyshie and personally I'd rather Gally given a run in the team than sign Beattie.

I think another midfielder should be the main priority a right sided one, or even another right back, unless of course Ooijer is going to provider cover there.

Not enough quality for Blackburn though.

I've always rated him quite highly but i didn't realise he was 28. I have thought he was a good prospect but maybe not if he hasn't reached higher levels at that age.

If anyone thinks for one moment that £2.5m for Luke Young is a good deal, I can only say I feel very sorry for you.

Charlton had a barn storming season in 06/7 and were strong finishers in every Prem season in which Luke Young was the star stand out performer in a defence which was ever reliable and put on solidly professional performances. No doubt you believe that as well.

As I wrote before, Boro look to be in deep trouble.

Agree - I think that Rossi is a far better player than Beattie and could have so much more to offer the team. Beattie would need to lose a few stone before I thought he would make a good signing.

Rossi for me ..... please.

Sorry guys I cant agree about Rossi. There is no way on earth I would start him ahead of any of our boys and that includes Gally. He hasnt proven himself anywhere and I really dont think he is meant for a life in the prem
