In norwegian media (www.nettavisen.no) they run a story that says that earlier this summer Liverpool made an offer to buy MGP for Craig Bellamy + cash. It also states that Tottenham have made bids and Man Utd, Bayern München and several others have shown interest. His agent says though there have been a lot of interest, Mark Hughes made it clear that he was not for sale.

"There's been a lot of interest, but the manager has said I'm not for sale."

Questioned whether this disappoints Morten, he answers "I can't say I'm disappointed to be here. I feel well here, and feel safe." He also says he thinks Blackburn can end up in the top six this season.

Hopefully we can get someone like Diarra or Flamini in for our centre midfield, I still feel we are one player short there.

Those two, although good players, are defensively minded midfielders. If Hughes was to broker a late loan deal for a midfielder I would think it would be someone with a bit of creativity ... having said that I'm happy with Dunn providing the spark in there this year, let's get behind him this season and see where it takes us. :brfc:

These would be good signings if we didn't have the likes of Steven Reid, Robbie Savage and Aaron Mokoena. We do need another midfielder, but a creative one.

Having been knocked back by Rovers over Roberts, Fulham have offered half the dosh (£2m) for Kyle Lafferty from the dingles.

Northern Ireland again. I know their manager still has contacts but Sparky didn't go mad trying to bring in all the Welsh players.

The new Maradona eh? 6ft 4in? Something is wrong somewhere there.

Isn't everyone form Argentina with a little talent touted as the next Maradonna? This one I think is the real deal though, at 6ft 4in he will be able to get his hand to the ball before most keepers.

I'm going to be a bit unpopular here, but we don't NEED a creative midfielder. I mean if Deco falls in your lap, you snap him up, but true class guys like that are too rare, besides, we can't afford one, they won't come here, yet, and we don't need one. We already have 2, imho, MGP and Bentley. We are so deadly on the wings that our central midfield simply needs to swing the ball side to side quickly to get to those two in space.

Besides our attack last season scored 52 in the league (only scored fewer than the big 4 and spurs), oh.... and we've replaced Nonda (17 starts) and Jeffers (3 starts), with Santa and Rigters, AND Roberts is healthier. Assuming we don't lose 2 seasons worth of support from the midfield (Reid all season, Savage 1/2 season, and Dunny only brought in halfway through), our attack should be much better, and therefore better than anyone with whom we can financially compete (and better than many teams who can outspend us!).

if the midfielders we have stay fit, then we're fine. i'd worry if we got more injuries to savage, reid / dunn though.

god forbid.....we do..... but i wouldnt be suprised.

i must say, dunny looks a lot fitter - i've probably jinxed him now.

he was great at preston, in his cameo against vetra, and at huddersfield.

When you look at the Preston game nobody was really great pleasure, because the opposition offered very little and i mean nobody.

The thing is Rovers wont be playing the calibre of Preston, Vetra and Huddersfield when the season starts .....its going to be a lot tougher.

i see your point(s), about the opposition, but i'm still impressed with how dunn has performed (he was holding his hamstring for a while in the 1st half). i might be being foolish, but i have renewed hope, that he rediscover some of his old magic (something i never thought possible, until the last few wks).

On the other thread concerning transfer rumours (with a bit of journalistic 'oomph') someone posted a link suggesting that Mark Hughes blocked a loan approach from Motherwell for Gally. It must be frustrating for the guy because anyone can see that he needs regular football to kick start his career and yet with Jeffers and maybe Joe Garner heading out, Gally will probably be required to play the 'occasionally used' squad role this season.
