Blackburn boss Mark Hughes wants to sign Liverpool's FA Youth cup double winner Charlie Barnett (Daily Mirror)

Interesting...Maybe one of those disillusioned at Rafas new youth policy

After a bit of research he is 18 and a midfielder who tends to play on the right hand side.

That is interesting, Spuds are the biggest net spenders by some distance...

Thanks for the link krislu

Looking through the history of Rovers' transfers is fascinating.

This is painful- the year we bought relegation:

Saison 98 / 99 -45.760.000

Zugang

Oumar Kondé (FC Basel) 750.000

Lee Carsley (Derby County) 5.100.000

Christian Dailly (Derby County) 7.950.000

Martin Taylor Blackburn Rovers U19 -

Kevin Cyril Davies (FC Southampton) 11.250.000

David Dunn Blackburn Rovers U19 -

David McNamee (FC St. Mirren) 450.000

Nathan Blake (Bolton Wanderers) 5.950.000

Burton O'Brien (FC St. Mirren) 450.000

Dario Marcolin (Lazio Rom) * ?

Ben Burgess Blackburn Rovers U19 -

Keith Gillespie (Newcastle United) 3.500.000

Ashley Ward (FC Barnsley) 6.285.000

Jason McAteer (FC Liverpool) 5.550.000

David McNamee (FC St. Mirren) * -

Anthony Williams Bristol Rovers * -

Anthony Williams Macclesfield Town * -

Abgang

Sébastien Perez (SC Bastia) * -

James Beattie (FC Southampton) 1.400.000

Martin Dahlin (Hamburger SV) ?

David McNamee (FC St. Mirren) * ?

Anthony Williams Bristol Rovers * ablösefrei

Anthony Williams Macclesfield Town * ablösefrei

Graham Coughlan (Livingston FC) ablösefrei

David Worrell (Dundee United) 75.000

Summe: 47.235.000 Summe: 1.475.000

The entire spending up to the Premiership title win was net E21m and the net spending in our first season back (including Grabbi and Cole) was net E21m.

Just brings home how spectacularly bad Kidd was.

Although I'm not sure how accurate the fees being quoted are, even if they are in Euros. It says that Rigters came here for 1,200,000, which would be about 800,000 pounds, that is quite a bit higher than the 350,000 everyone else has put the fee at.

I heard somewhere that it was £350k upfront with potential add-ons making it 800k.

Unrelated, but Danny Murphy is looking for a move from Spurs.

I thought he was an excellent player when he was at Liverpool and might provide us with some cover in the middle of the park. I seem to recall he can also play full back.

Everton are reportedly after the £10m-rated Yakubu.

I've always thought we should go for him, but that kind of money is out of our price range. The boy scores a lot of goals and causes problems for defences. On the plus side, we may not have to face him on Saturday if this one gets pushed through quickly.

I would not fancy defending against Yakubu and Johnson with Cahill running from deep and Arteta supplying them all. I think this would be a very good move for the toffees.

Oh I was thinking about Danny Murphy a few weeks ago. He was good every time I saw him play, shame he is not being used at Spurs. If he was at a very low price I'd love to see him at Ewood, he is a great passer of the ball and reads the game well...if he is still the same after being stuck at Spurs, not playing. If he wasn't available on the cheap I'd rather us spend the money on a younger version, as Murphy must be about 30 now.

They have other threats too. Still a little weak at the back, but they are putting together a very good side.

This morning's suggestions that West Ham will nab all of Gudjohnson, Shorey and Bresciano make my forecast of the Scammers coming 12th look limp.

Anyway, if Yakubu has asked for a transfer from Boro, it will make not collecting 3 points from Boro from Saturday even more inexcusable...

Maybe. It's all fine and well getting the players in, but if the manager can't get them to play as a team, especially with all those egos, then I don't think it'll matter. Plus a few of the players he's brought in do have quite bad injury records.

true enough. similar is applicable to citeh. i doubt either side will 'gel' until the back end of the season at best. not to mention managing the ego's

Hughes: "So it's going to be difficult but, as I've said before, I think this year our squad's going to be really strong, and if we make a couple more additions before the window shuts then I think we'll be in great shape.

Why the  ? Hughes is spot on, we need a few more quality players in before saying we are in great shape.

absolutely agree! I just thought we're pretty much done in the transfer market...(maybe a loan player or two?) :rover:
