Fair point. It's all very well marrying an empty headed bimbo as many seem to but do they really support their man? Mind you, I have to say in fairness to the ladies that some (not all) footballers are not the brightest fellows <_<

Italian football is really losing its charm fast! Everyone seems to be getting the hell outta there and into either spain or here! If AC hadnt won the Euro Cup last season would have have gone by without anyone knowing italian club football existed!

Yeah, World Cup win, Champions League win......

Roy Keane has had something to say with regard to his difficulties in luring top players north. It's certainly an interesting take on the subject.

 Not like Keane to speak his mind.

You could say that Beckham's career has gone up in smoke due to his power and fame hungry missus, so I do think he has a very good point though.

Wouldn't mind a deal where we sold Roberts and brought in Gudjohnsen.

Everone might as well forget any notion of Gudjohnsen right now.

I can assure everyone from very good authority indeed that despite all the speculation to the contrary, whilst admiring him as a player, we have NEVER been interested in actually signing Gudjohnsen!

plus which reputed wages of £100,000 a week might slightly put rovers off too...

Hmmm. I can see his point. I reckon it must affect Sunderland more than most clubs - it's the worst town I've ever been to (and no I don't have any opinions on its shops).

isnt it a city? anyways its not that bad. Theres plenty of other areas for which players can live. For example Newcastle, I live here and its a pretty good place to live.

Yes but why would a footballer be put up anywhere other than a swanky house or apartment away from a town's less salubrious areas?

If you're getting paid £10k a week then who cares if your club's city or town is rubbish. Live somewhere else. Newcastle in this instance.

Rovers' comments on the MGP Arsenal bid stories. Sparky quite outspoken by his standards.

Andy Nield reveals his intimate knowledge of the Rovers' squad- MGP is XX years old. Obviously a secret ruse to confuse the raiding Gunners.

Now the agent is getting involved. http://www.sportinglife.com/football/premi...EAMHD=blackburn

I thought Rovers were going to offer Gamst and Bentley new deals anyway. What's happened with that?

Jose moanalot has been told by Abramovich to sell 2 palyers to fund the purchase of Alves.

Robben is about to sign for Madrid whilst they are looking to off load Johnson, the right back for a small fee to reach 24 million. The biggest issue with Johnson is that although the fee will be relatively small he is on massive wages in the region of 85k per week !

Johnson would be a good right back for us, but we have Emerton and Ooijer for RB at the moment. He's one of them that would probably want to stay in London though.

Another reason not to drop Emerton is that, no matter what you think of his overall quality, he never stops running or trying. You can always count on him to put in the distance and he'll fight for the cause, so he is just what we need. I'd be a bit wary of bringing in someone like Johnson who might think this is just a nice little stop-over.

Boupa Diop may be able to do a decent job for us if we get him. Is strong, gets forward often and should be able to score 7-8 a season.

We really need cover in central midfield as none of Savage, Tugay or Reid may be able to start 40 games. Also if Dunn can continue his current form, he will need to be rested now and then...

"I don't know if it will be anyone like Arsenal or Manchester United but I have good teams in England interested although I don't want to say who they are yet.

"Whatever happens I do expect to have left Fulham by the time the transfer window closes.

Highly rated, but I'm still far from convinced. He also seems to be a bit of a troublemaker. Recall the toilet stealing incident over the summer? What a ponker. We can do without those types here.

Was good two seasons back. Don't know what happened, but he fell out of favour with Coleman and now Sanchez too. He can be a good player on his day, but can also be downright shockingly bad. If he came, he would make us even more dangerous at set pieces than we already are, but not much more than that in my opinion.

As you say Kai, Diop can be a good player on his day, but has been fairly quiet over the past year or so and I can't decide if he would be a good signing. I still think that we need a quality player in midfield and even though this would be hard to find and costly, it would make a real difference to our team. Spurs have apparently put an offer in for Riquelme. It might seem a bit ambitious, but he did move to Villareal who were hardly the most glamorous team on La Liga. Indeed he may be beyond our financial means, but we could always enquire.

Huddlestone would be a decent buy if Spurs would let him go. We need a player like Carrick or Huddlestone for abit of quality in midfield to complement our other more hard working midfielders. That Elano city got would have been a quality signing if we found him before city.

That Alfonso Alves from Herenvees will also be a good player in the prem i reckon. Think Middlesborough are interested. We have enough forwards though.

Heard somewhere that Beletti of Barcelona is interesting some premiership clubs. Hes the right back that scored against Arsenal in the CL. Might be a decent option.

Quoted from the BBC gossip page:

"Red Star Belgrade midfielder Ognjen Koroman says Alan Hutton is in for the beating of his life in the second leg after the Rangers full-back complained of being constantly kicked in their Champions League qualifier. (Various) "

I wonder if he's available? Can we sign him to a 1 game contract for our trip to the Emirates! :)
