T4E Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Well at 33/1 I think that will probably be the best 20 pounds I ever spend in my life... Great job Eddie, incredible foresight to pull that one in out of nowhere. I didn't think Eli could run an effective 2 minute offense on that Pats defense under that pressure if I'm honest. He almost didn't - the scramble and completion to Tyree was a game turner. For me as big a play that has seemingly been overlooked was the completion to Steve Smith later in the series. Smith took in the pass right up against the touchline and tip-toed along ensuring he went out of bounds just after the marker to give the Giants the FD and stop the clock. Massively important play - had he been tackled in bounds and short of the first that could well have been it. I was pleased that the game winning drive ended with a TD completion to Plaxico Burress - his stock has risen in recent weeks but for me he's up there with TJ Houshmandzadeh as the most underrated receivers in the NFL. Bring on the draft.

Eddie Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Thanks, bit more luck than foresight I have to admit, but I've always thought Eli had a lot of potential and was in my book in the top 5 quaterbacks in the league on his day, so when I saw a team with a good quarterback going into the playoffs at 33/1, I thought I had to take the shot.
tchocky Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Turns out I am better at winning on American Football than the normal kind. First I got both the semi final teams right @~ 4/1 odds, then the Giants to win it @ 12/1 odds. Decent £70ish combined winnings. Should've bet more money.
Eddie Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Congratulations. It's always like that when you win though, right now I wish I'd stuck my life savings on the giants.
Biddy Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I actually stayed up to watch it and what a fantastic finished to the game. Well done Giants.

1864roverite Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 if anything the half time entertainment wa the best thing about the whole shindig. Tom Petty brought the house down
Shevchenko Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 total waste of air time, money time and effort. the biggest load of dross since having to be forced to watch PNE v Burnley spotting for the idiots of both sides. In fact, I am campaigning for the tv stations to blank this boring game of puff ball if anything the half time entertainment wa the best thing about the whole shindig. Tom Petty brought the house down And yet you still watched it huh? Right... I didn't want the Patriots to win really, being that they are...well, the Patriots. But I didn't want the Giants to win it either and out of two evils, I picked Patriots to win...no, didn't put any money on this game, so that's ok. It'll be interesting to see if Eli can remain consistently good next season, like he has been in the play offs. As Philly Rover, I have doubts about them making the play offs again next season. We shall see.
T4E Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I don't care who they're sending over, I'm going again if I can get tickets. I don't like the Pats...but if they did come over, at least you'd get to see some proper stars this time instead of the lame a** Giants and Dolphins. And we'd some some scoring. Those lame a** giants may win the superbowl... Yeah... No they won't. Since you're here Sheva making predictions, I just thought I'd throw this one out there
Shevchenko Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Yeah I was wrong. I honestly didn't think they'd do it.
American Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I think having Shockey injured was a blessing in disguise. He is a great tight end, but Eli relied on him too much. Opposing defenses saw that and would jump on it. There were 2 games where Eli had a total of 8 interceptions. 7 of them were on passes intended for Shockey.
1864roverite Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 No Chevy chase I did NOT watch it I caught a glimpse of TP on the SSnews coverage that showed the ht entertainment. I am not sure how anyone can get as excited by some egg chasers chucking an oval ball around, I mean even Rugby Union has a little bit more than American football. I do suppose though there is one good thing about it, and that was the sight of some of the clacker on show in the form of cheerleaders !!! A lot better than the gay dancer on show at Ewood over Christmas
T4E Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Yeah I was wrong. I honestly didn't think they'd do it. I don't think many people did. I certainly didn't. I think having Shockey injured was a blessing in disguise. He is a great tight end, but Eli relied on him too much. Opposing defenses saw that and would jump on it. There were 2 games where Eli had a total of 8 interceptions. 7 of them were on passes intended for Shockey. Definitely agree with that. I'm a massive fan of Shockey, amongst the best TE's in the league (up there with Antonio Gates and Dallas Clark anyway), but Eli has had to spread it around far more than he was prepared to before. Hopefully Shockey will be able to blend back in to their offense next season, otherwise I'll have to throw my Giants jersey away!
Redrose49er Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Hopefully Shockey will be able to blend back in to their offense next season, otherwise I'll have to throw my Giants jersey away! I can see Shockey on the trading block this off-season
broadsword Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Did any Packers (other than the Head Coach) make it to ProBowl?
Exiled_Rover Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Did any Packers (other than the Head Coach) make it to ProBowl? Donald Driver, Aaron Kampman, Al Harris and Chad Clifton as far as I can remember. Favre was voted there, but pulled out. There was only one representative from the NFC South, and Garcia was only there as an alternative. What a strange division my Panthers find themselves in.
grizfoot Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 A decent game last night. So the NFC take everything this year then.
American Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I'm usually not one to praise anything having to do with the Raiders, but.... http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...5/SPG6URQ3V.DTL
