Jordan Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 The UEFA Under21 Championships begins on Sunday with Englands first game on Monday against the Czech Republic. Two Blackburn players will be representing England at the Championships, Bentley and Derbyshire. From looking at the odds England are 7/2 second favorites behind Italy so it appears that they have got a good chance of doing well. More information on the tournment can be found HERE. Come on England!!!!

brfc fan Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 It should be good. Nice to see Rovers being represented amoung Europe's young elite. Shame I can't watch it though because it's on Sky!
Guest shoppybrfc Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Derbyshire not even starting tonight, instead Fizzy pop man Nugent and the overrated Young are.
herbergeehh Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 So Bentley will be joining the u21's after the matches against Estonia and Brazil? Can't be arsed to watch this before Derbyshire comes on..
Manc Rover Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Nugent having a stormer tonight - a move for him this summer makes total sense. Would £5M do it? We could do a lot worse y'know. He's young, bags of skill, scores goals. the only thing against him is that he's a nobender!

Manc Rover Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Looks pretty average to me. Yeah he looked average to me too, apart from ripping their defence apart for 45 minutes.
Manc Rover Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Looks pretty average to me. I stand corrected, he's now having a shocker!
Jordan Posted June 5, 2007 Author Posted June 5, 2007 I stand corrected, he's now having a shocker! 2-0 now. Nugent missed a sitter. Got £30 on england to win with a -1 handicap. and £30 on engand to win the second half......looking good. Oh and £2 on Derbs last goal.
Manc Rover Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Derbs' just missed a chance but he's lookin lively. go on Matty lad!
Jordan Posted June 5, 2007 Author Posted June 5, 2007 2-0 now. Nugent missed a sitter. Got £30 on england to win with a -1 handicap. and £30 on engand to win the second half......looking good. Oh and £2 on Derbs last goal. Looking even better - 5-0 now. Lita should have squared to Derbys though.
Fife Rover Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 In the short time he was on, Derbs had 2 golden opportunities and spurned them both. Also for some reason he was not getting forward enough and into goal scoring positions as he always does for Rovers. It looked like Lita had been detailed off for that role, and Derbs told to forage from wide or deep positions. Oh, and incidentally; somebody said disparaging things about Young a few posts ago. I hope they have now had a re-think on that.
rover6 Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I just hope that England U21 show more than the tat that Platt presided over last time we were here (with Dunny as captain). We have good players but we should play to our strengths - namely a direct, fast style. We are pants at possession football.
BRFC4EVA Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 2-0 now. Nugent missed a sitter. Got £30 on england to win with a -1 handicap. and £30 on engand to win the second half......looking good. Oh and £2 on Derbs last goal. How much dya win with them 2 bets?
Jordan Posted June 11, 2007 Author Posted June 11, 2007 England drew their first game against Czech Republic 0-0. Lita missed a penalty in the 87th minute and Derbyshire was on the bench however Pearce thought England would do better with Mark Noble up front.
Ricky Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 To be fair he bought Noble in for Huddlestone in midfield. Still would have been good to see Derbs getting a run.
Backroom trueblue Posted June 11, 2007 Backroom Posted June 11, 2007 Derbyshire was on the bench however Pearce thought England would do better with Mark Noble up front. Aye, Pearce is the latest graduate from the Steve McClown school of substitutions
modes98 Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Pearce thought England would do better with Mark Noble up front. Close escape for Man Citeh there then! Doesn't know what he is doing. Lita looked cocky with the pen, shame for england but it was a close game.
brfc fan Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 0-0 That isn't the best way to get started but at least we didn't loose. Hope Matty gets a goal next time.
grizfoot Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Cue 'Bentley's absence means England only draw' headlines in tommorrows papers
ewoodblue Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Well at least Chris Waddlee is talking sense. Why wasn't Derbyshire played,it's stupid.I really hope he wasn't overlooked as a retaliation for Bentley. Derbs is the ,man, and I've back him over Nugent anytime. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/i...als/6743121.stm ps.........I've totally lost respect for Stuart Pearce, and thank you to the main page for pointing out his double standards over the Bentley issue. The way Bentley was snubbed for the first team and b team was an insult to such a class player, and now the same rubbish is going on with Derbyshire. One phrase summed it up,Englands loss is Rovers gain.
Billy Castell Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 I hope Derbyshire is overlooked. Don't want him tired out for next season, and possibly injured.
blue phil Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Yep , let's hope Rovers never provide an international player again ......
Ronin Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 At least if England do underperform, Pearce had best not use the excuse of tired players!
