The UEFA Under21 Championships begins on Sunday with Englands first game on Monday against the Czech Republic.

Two Blackburn players will be representing England at the Championships, Bentley and Derbyshire.

From looking at the odds England are 7/2 second favorites behind Italy so it appears that they have got a good chance of doing well.

It should be good. Nice to see Rovers being represented amoung Europe's young elite. :rover:

Nugent having a stormer tonight - a move for him this summer makes total sense. Would £5M do it? We could do a lot worse y'know. He's young, bags of skill, scores goals. the only thing against him is that he's a nobender!

I stand corrected, he's now having a shocker!

2-0 now. Nugent missed a sitter.

Got £30 on england to win with a -1 handicap. and £30 on engand to win the second half......looking good. Oh and £2 on Derbs last goal.

Lita should have squared to Derbys though.

In the short time he was on, Derbs had 2 golden opportunities and spurned them both. Also for some reason he was not getting forward enough and into goal scoring positions as he always does for Rovers. It looked like Lita had been detailed off for that role, and Derbs told to forage from wide or deep positions. Oh, and incidentally; somebody said disparaging things about Young a few posts ago. I hope they have now had a re-think on that.

I just hope that England U21 show more than the tat that Platt presided over last time we were here (with Dunny as captain).

We have good players but we should play to our strengths - namely a direct, fast style. We are pants at possession football.

England drew their first game against Czech Republic 0-0. Lita missed a penalty in the 87th minute and Derbyshire was on the bench however Pearce thought England would do better with Mark Noble up front.

Close escape for Man Citeh there then! Doesn't know what he is doing. Lita looked cocky with the pen, shame for england but it was a close game.

Well at least Chris Waddlee is talking sense.

Why wasn't Derbyshire played,it's stupid.I really hope he wasn't overlooked as a retaliation for Bentley.

Derbs is the ,man,and I've back him over Nugent anytime.

ps.........I've totally lost respect for Stuart Pearce,and thank you to the main page for pointing out his double standards over the Bentley issue.

The way Bentley was snubbed for the first team and b team was an insult to such a class player,and now the same rubbish is going on with Derbyshire.

One phrase summed it up,Englands loss is Rovers gain.
