Derby County are believed to be watching with interest, the outcome of transfer negotiations between Rovers and Ipswich for striker Francis Jeffers, following the news yesterday that Rovers have turned down a second bid, understood to be in the region of £500,000 from the tractor boys.

A source in Derby has revealed that the East Midlands club are also interested in Norwich striker Robert Earnshaw, who was recently reported to be a Rovers transfer target.

Speculation that Newcastle were considering a move for Roma’s on loan striker Chris Nonda, who Mark Hughes hopes to sign on a permanent deal has gone quiet, following the news that the Barcodes have signed Middlesbrough’s Mark Viduka on a two year deal.
