Don't ever do that again. You must tell us where you're going and if you're going to stay out for two whole weeks then please phone and let us know you're OK. You had us worried sick, we nearly had to phone the police.

Right, now that we know you're OK back to work please, who can't we afford in January?

Welcome back Nicko- hope you enjoyed your freelancing in the Carribean!

For those not reading the BBC gossip column, Sparky will part with Savage and "dressing room rebel" Roberts whilst he gave the lads the hairdryer treatment at a training session.

Expect frizzled and burnt ends aplenty at Pride Park then.

I can't believe it took you two weeks to figure out I was on holiday.

Mind you, a bit scary that someone knew where I was...

Still, at least I haven't turned Dingle or disappeared like a takeover bidder.

The big chap is back...and will be firing shortly. ;)

GodDammit!!! I was convinced you had latched on to one of them half season tickets in dingleville. Over there fraternising with the enemy and after having a sixth digit implant on both hands you were then unable to type.

Welcome back Nicko, hope you had a great Hols.

We need both players.

good to have to have you back-hope you had a nice time..

anyway, on to the transfer window...

mark hughes has said we might have to sell to buy-so that rules anelka out...

our best bet of signing players is on loan or players who have been on trial....

we seriously need a takeover..

Interesting take on the January transfer window (conveniently forgetting the genius that is Mark Hughes and his team), England qualification and something else.

Also from the Observer:

'We have some targets in mind, but generally it is very difficult at this time of year,' Benitez said. 'It is almost impossible to find fantastic players at the right price in January, especially if you want players who can play in the Champions League.'

Puts this January's transfer window in perspective as everyone from Peter Crouch, to Modrich (contract to 2015 with Zagreb!) to Ufjalazi (new contract at Fiorentina) goes off-limits for a move in the near future. Surely, Rovers should also be looking for players who can play in the Champions League? We are the only Prem club with an all-Champs League winning front line.

Hope you had a nice holiday. Glad to have you back. But you're a very naughty boy for worrying us all like that. In future, given your celebrity status, a sign-off would be nice!!!

agreed jan, but i would like to add that IMO, the biggest worry for most people was that nicko had turend dingle on us all :lol:

now that you are back nicko, we are all looking forward to catching up on 2 weeks worth of footy/transfer gossip and rumour :xmas:

Unless someone extremely good is coming in, would be very disappointed to see Savage going and Mokoena staying.

If we are getting £1.5m - £2m for Savage its a good deal at his age (33) and he's one of the biggest earners at the club. Means we will be able to bring in someone quality I hope.

Nice to see we are back to 4-4-2 today, time for a performance from McCarthy to get relations with staff and fans back on track, and hopefully he can hit it off with Cruz, they could be a lethal partnership.

Would 5 mill do for both Savage and Roberts?

i just phoned my mate up and as it happens he is at derby today because his nephew is the rovers mascot. he saw and oveheard sav talking to alan smith the former arsenal player. he asked sav if he was playing and got a "NO"...so asked him if this means if he is leaving rovers and sav's responce was "looks like it".

interesting times ahead....i got a scoop and nicko didn't...:lol:

i would probably take taht FFAN, although i could imagine rovers wanting at least what they paid for roberts, if sav is indeed valued at 2M

I'm sure that we are in a position to simply wait and see what other players are selling for before taking speculative offers.

As I have pointed out before I think our recent slump is down more to divisive agents and interested / desperate clubs unsettling our players than to any loss of form / fitness. Dunno how to stop it but it should not be allowed to happen!
