Boateng is only eleven months younger than Savage. Can't see any point at all in spending a largec sum of money swapping the two.

That's if it is a large sum of money, with his injury record there's a chance he could be offloaded cheaply because of his wages. I say if he's cheap and stays fit, he's a very good option but if he's a similar price to what is received for Savage forget it.

Id take a look at that Silva Cleyton from Larisa possably on trial as he looked like a cracking little player, also id like us to look at these names:

Pascal Feinunduno - Very fast striker and can play winger - St Etiene

Marek Sapara - Very much a Tugay - Rosenborg

Kim - Brazillian winger who will attack anything remember him from last year? - Nancy

Michalis Konstantou - Cypriot striker who dumped out Ireland, good in the air would be available on the cheap - olympiakos

Stefan Radu - The new chivu - Dinamo Buc

David Albelda - Brilliant holding midfielder who can pass available at 4mill - Valencia

BTW Hughesey im in favour of a Pique loan but would he get any more game time here?

It's a nice list, but I'd be very surprised if we signed any of them. They are all at smaller clubs with the exception of Albeda, but I just don't think, rather sadly, that Hughes will make many changes, it doesn't seem to be his style. Personally I think the squad has gone slightly stale and we need a bit of a shake up, but it won't happen.

maybe loan signings are the way.

we had bentley and pongolle 2 seasons ago on loan in the january window and what a success mr bentley has been :)

We don't need much money - look at what Hughes does with it! Our team is full of bargains!

Not as though Hughes hasn't shaken things up. He's been at Rovers just over three years and the only non-Hughes signings at the club now are Friedel, Tugay, Emerton, Reid and MGP.

Briattori's QPR has already made four signings (youngsters I believe) but are linked with Savage today.

That's quite a lot of players to still regularly be in the starting line-up after that many seasons. For the past couple of years the make-up of our side has stayed roughly the same, I think in any sport you have to have a turn-over every few years just to keep players interested and on their toes. If we don't make a signing in this January window who goes into our starting line-up then we will have gone a year with the only real change to our side being the addition of Santa Cruz.

Yeah Terry(fecker)Christian was sayin on talk sport last night that you never really know the true amount of a player.Esp with all the clause's and everything thrown into contracts these days.He was saying that Nani(i think) cost 7/8 million but could end up being United's 3rd most expensive signing ever after all the clause's had been paid and everything else.

On Rovers World, Hughes commenting how hard it is to compete (money wise) with the other clubs in and around us in the table.

I think Hughes' recent comments on our finances add more weight to the worry that he'll be gone unless we receive some form of investment sooner rather than later. As people have said, the backing that he's received when compared to other Premiership managers is astonishing given that we're competing in the top half of the league.

if we could get a combined fee of 6million of savage and roberts would be a good deal..

i like roberts, and feels he offers us something different when needed, but if we get more then what we paid for him or the same amount would be some good business...

nicko..any talk on who else could be leaving..ie mokoena or mcarthy???

I don't see who would take Mokoena when he is off to Africa...but you never know.

As for Benni, I ony think they would sell if they needed the money to buy their first-choice replacement, our old chum Anelka.

By the way, the Bulgarian striker is only coming on trial. He will have to be good because Levski Sofia want a fair amount of money for him. I would reserve judgement on that one intil he turns up and goes through his proverbial paces.

Nicko - any idea who the 3 are in for Boateng?

I believe his agent is Barry Silkman, who has a bit of an imagination.

So I would think the clubs after him are Chelsea, Arsenal and Man U. ;)

I used to like Boateng, but I think his time has passed. If it is right for Sav to move on, you need someone with fresher legs.

Hi Nicko! Always a pleasure to read your posts :tu:

Any news or rumours surrounding the forgotten Rover Maceo Rigters? He seems to be very far away from the 1st team. I'd be surprised if he doesn't leave on loan somewhere in january.

we should look at getting some players in on loan..

ie darren fletcher, diaby, diarra, sidwell-decent players who arent getting games for top 4 clubs..

this bulgarian is apparntly very quick-if roberts goes, its just what we need up front..

anything on lance davids and that guy from metz, are blackburn impressed enough to push through a deal???

Rigters - right off the radar, a loan move would be an idea.

And I can't see any of the Big Four letting players out on loan right now. All of them are in Europe and a couple more in the Carling Cup where they often play the kids.

It is going to be a tough window to find players like that.

And that might explain why there are so many trialists coming over, although I have not heard of any of them really exciting anyone just yet.

As the boss says, it's getting harder.
