Nelsta Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Hi Nicko! Always a pleasure to read your posts Any news or rumours surrounding the forgotten Rover Maceo Rigters? He seems to be very far away from the 1st team. I'd be surprised if he doesn't leave on loan somewhere in january. Wasnt the signing of rigters ment to be a long term thing....i.e get him up to speed with the english game and devolping him through the reserves before he's a first team player.

T4E Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I believe his agent is Barry Silkman, who has a bit of an imagination. So I would think the clubs after him are Chelsea, Arsenal and Man U. I used to like Boateng, but I think his time has passed. If it is right for Sav to move on, you need someone with fresher legs. Two sides to it really, firstly whether we are one of the 3, and secondly whether one of Sav's potential suitors may see Boateng as a better alternative.
John Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Not a priority position for us (or maybe it should be!), but could be a good loan deal for Everton. Van Buyten is Everton option
nicko Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Two sides to it really, firstly whether we are one of the 3, and secondly whether one of Sav's potential suitors may see Boateng as a better alternative. I just don't see it - and if Silkman has to go onto Sky TV to tell the world then there is unlikely to be any genuine current interest. He is trying to whip some up. Boateng is on big wages too, so that is a hard deal. We should know more about Sunderland and Savage tonight, you would have to think they will talk at board level and see if a fee can be agreed.
nicko Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Not a priority position for us (or maybe it should be!), but could be a good loan deal for Everton. Van Buyten is Everton option Van Buyten is an excellent player, but again it looks like an agent trying to rev up interest. I don't know what has gone wrong with him and Bayern. Watch out for Big Sam having a dip at him if he is really available on loan...although Newcastle have been on for another centre half today. Tell you more on that in the morning. It's NOT one of yours, so no panic.
John Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I saw that interview with Silkman earlier on Sky. You can tell by watching it that he (Silkman) is a bull-sh*tter.
T4E Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Not a priority position for us (or maybe it should be!), but could be a good loan deal for Everton. Van Buyten is Everton option Bloody should be! We're woeful defensively, a loan of this type would be just the ticket.
Dunnfc Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 On the offical boards it said that Hughes had a squad meeting with everyone and told them to book up or go and apparently Savage reactedlike a child to this, and apparently Roberts is deffo going but its a case of finding a buyer who will give us the money we want. Mokoena is also 50-50 on weather to stay or go and Benni is definatley staying unless we need to drum up funds. That right Nicko! (Good to have you back)
herbergeehh Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Not a priority position for us (or maybe it should be!), but could be a good loan deal for Everton. Van Buyten is Everton option If Van Buyten is available, he should be a priority for most clubs. Him and Samba would eat the opposition alive..
LeftWinger Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Remember when we lost 3-0 at home to Sunderland - then after the match announced we'd signed Andy Cole? Who'd take a 3-0 defeat tonight if we signed Anelka after the game? Not going to happen obviously.

(Good to have you back) I hope so...I think I said that a a little while ago. Massive movement going on all round just now, but deals proving hard to do everywhere. DERBY - going for Hossam Ghaly at Tottenham. Hothead but talented. EVERTON - about to sign kid Gosling. NEWCASTLE - in for a centre half [wait for it!]. BOLTON - in for a couple of reasonable names but finding it tough to buy. So don't think you are alone in having a slightly frustrating time.
LeftWinger Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 NEWCASTLE - in for a centre half [wait for it!]. Boumsoung?
Mozzer Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 anelka to blackburn wont happen.. we would have to get rid of benni mcarthy for that, and like hughes said couple day ago..the price you would get for benni mcarthy wouldnt be enough to buy a better player.. i would like a good four or five players to come in-a central midfielder being one of those players.. we should look into the harry kewell situation aswell..
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 NEWCASTLE - in for a centre half [wait for it!]. Boumsong? Bramble?

Who'd take a 3-0 defeat tonight if we signed Anelka after the game? Not going to happen obviously. It was after a 1-0 defeat to Derby at Ewood when we signed Andy Cole.
T4E Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I believe we signed Cole on Dec 28 that year, unveiled after the Derby game. The Sunderland game was on Boxing Day iirc.
LeftWinger Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 It was after a 1-0 defeat to Derby at Ewood when we signed Andy Cole. I must be getting confused. They were around about the same time weren't they. I remember Souness annoucing they had some good news after the game - and standing outside the Jack Walker stand in the snow - and seeing Cole going up the stairs.
EwoodGlory Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 NEWCASTLE - in for a centre half [wait for it!]. Cannavaro?
pksrover Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Cannavaro? you are surely talking about Paolo and not Fabio lol
Nelsta Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Darren Peacock stepping out of retierment for one last season at St James's?
brian_gallagher85 Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Come on Nicko give us a clue...if it hasn't already been guessed correctly! Rio or Anton, ot maybe Upson?
