EwoodGlory Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 For Newcastle's sake I hope this defender is good
Tim Southampton Rover Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I think he needs it to be Superman
USRoverME Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 If they had Defenders who can score like Bramble, they'd be just fine....
herbergeehh Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 That's kind of the problem though, defenders must be able to defend, unless they wouldn't be.... defenders? And in all fairness, I'd play any team with Titus Bramble in the starting eleven.
nicko Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Newcastle's defensive target is Tal Ben Haim at Chelsea. There may be a chance that he is available because Chelsea have signed a Serb called Ivanovic from Lokomotiv Moscow tonight. Two other late bits of news... Manchester City could be selling Samaras to Birmingham. Hard to believe, but true. And Laurent Robert is going on trial at Derby.
Mozzer Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 on another rovers forum, apparntly savage to sunderland should be done tomorrow..2million deal???
Tim Southampton Rover Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 If Big Sam loses against Stoke in the cup, do you feel he'll be given his marching orders or by signing Tal Ben Haim mean that the chairman is actually backing him throughout the transfer window despite what might happen in the next few weeks?

Fair question. The Tal Ben Haim inquiry was made before tonight's defeat by Man City, if they lose at Stoke I think he will be out - and there won't be a point in pursuing it. If Big Sam is smart he will try to push it through before the weekend...either on loan or for a small fee.
nicko Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 on another rovers forum, apparntly savage to sunderland should be done tomorrow..2million deal??? Catching up. Sunderland are keen, it just depends how much. I think the fee will be about £1.5 million plus survival bonuses...if they don't pay that they are not serious. Derby have an interest biut are further down the road with Hossam Ghaly from Spurs. Taking Laurent Robert on trial is a bit strange.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 He'd be the last person i'd want at my club trying to fight relegation. When things are going wrong, he'll just moan and as soon as they go down, he'll be off anyway!
USABlue Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Sunderland are keen, it just depends how much. I think the fee will be about £1.5 million plus survival bonuses...if they don't pay that they are not serious. Surely we can do better than that. I mean if Keano will pay 9 Mil for a Scottish keeper we have to push for 3 mil
Sandiway Blue Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Surely we can do better than that. I mean if Keano will pay 9 Mil for a Scottish keeper we have to push for 3 mil If savage was 25yrs old i would agree..
Hughesy Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Saw Nial Quinn outside the ground last night and I told him he could have savage for £2 million, to which he just laughed. I said well Id get it done soon if I was you, to which he replied 'Well why else would I be here'.

neophox Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Nicko: Do you know if theres rovers interest in released Real Betis midfelder Johann Vogel? He would be an great addition or will we just go for the bulgarian. Is there any truth in rovers bringing in South korean Yoon Bitgaram?
joey_big_nose Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Nicko: Do you know if theres rovers interest in released Real Betis midfelder Johann Vogel? He would be an great addition or will we just go for the bulgarian. Is there any truth in rovers bringing in South korean Yoon Bitgaram? From Wikipedia it sounds like Everton have got Vogel sewn up. Hope not- exactly the sort of player we need and (as he is free) just the right price! If we got 2 million for Savage and got him in for free that would be perfect. We could still go ourt and buy another qualitu midfielder.
tchocky Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I'd imagine Ooijer knows Vogel from their time at PSV.. Hopefully we can use that to our advantage should there be any interest in getting him on board. He 's not been a success though since he left Holland, so I don't know if he's worth it anymore. Bit like Van Bommel.
Mozzer Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 surely blackburn should be signing someone soon.. i mean robbie savage seems to be off, mokoena is going african cups of nations, that is leaving us short in central midfield with only tugay , reid and dunn...
Sandiway Blue Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_3018798,00.html Have you heard anything about Santiago Ezquerro nicko?
Hughesy Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 31 year old - no thanks! Time we signed younger players who will have a sell on value if they are ever good enough to attract further interest.
Sandiway Blue Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 31 year old - no thanks! Time we signed younger players who will have a sell on value if they are ever good enough to attract further interest. Totally agree, but given the dire situation in centre of midfield we might not have much choice.
ffan Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Totally agree, but given the dire situation in centre of midfield we might not have much choice. Bernard Mendy is attracting interest from Premiership clubs.
Hughesy Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Id rather see Pedro Mendes at 28, than a 31 year old - and again he wouldnt be 1st choice. Huddlestone or Diarra (Loan) would be my choice
DanLad Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Is there any truth in rovers bringing in South korean Yoon Bitgaram? If memory serves, on Radio Rovers last night, they mentioned a South Korean lad and the Eastern European lad as trialists. I think they also mentioned a South African right hand sided midfielder. I expect that these are all the players that have been mentioned on here previously.
