Well in that case , we should get him imo.

Top player.

Wouldn't argue, but the trouble is Bolton are about to have £12 million or so in ready cash to invest.

Sale of savage! :P

What I've been told.

Jan Koller has signed for Nurnberg, so won't be joining, we're having a close look at Pedro Moutinhio from Falkirk and are due to make a bid this week, Robbie Savage is still in the equation, Porto's centreback Milan Stepanovs is also a target but the price may be a stumbling block. Also looking at a loan deal for young striker Michele Paolucci of Udinese and finally Borussia Dortmund's Swiss centreback Phillip Degen is being watched.

Maybe complicated as he is co-owned by Juve, good prospect from what ive seen of him this yaer, although he is far from a regular at Udi

Saviola certainly has all the ability we need. Clever player with pace and technique, a dream signing to complement Benni and Santa Cruz's qualities. Oh, if only we had the money..

problem there isn't transfer fee if the numbers (£4 mill) mooted are accurate. His wages would be considerable, though.

Paolucci has on occasion been awesome for me in Football Manager. So I say sign him up!

Now, where's that Tó Madeira fella?

I'm sure. The good thing about high wages and reasonably low transfer price though, is that if the player doesn't prove to be worth his wage, he can be sold to a new club and the financial draught will be filled. If you get any news on Saviola and Rovers, Nicko, don't hesitate, tell us :-)

Saviola's an outstanding player. I was surprised when Real went for him - it smelled of an "up yours" to Barca. I thought we could have had an interest then. The guys a front line striker for Argentina even though he doesn't play regularly at club level and Rovers wouldn't be a bad stepping stone for him at all if that's what he has in mind. He's also young. A good option seeing as Anelka's out of the equation.

Again, I feel as though Bolton and those of us on this messageboard are being a little too optimistic about the possibility of signing Saviola. If his wages weren't a big enough stumbling block for us, there's the fact that he would be going from one of the best clubs in the world, to a ground with little over 20k supporters, hovering just above mid-table. It isn't as if he's approaching the end of his career or anything either.

I can only tell you what was confirmed to me at the weekend...Bolton are trying for him.

Oh, of course, I'm not doubting that you are correct and that Bolton are in for him, I just think it's bit too much like wishful thinking on Bolton's part. I'd love to be wrong about snubbing Rovers and seeing him in the blue and white. That would be one hell of a signing. But I just cannot see it happening.

Nicko have you heard anything about if the new trialist is here yet and if he is hows he doing?

I dont know why but I have a feeling about this player.

The Bulgarian striker is in today, first impressions OK but may be a little similar to Matt Derbyshire.

Me too - it smells like a few agents and some club director combining to make a cocktail of bullshit, and trying to lure Blackburn into buying a player not capable of being more than a decent player in a poor league. The "they've practically bought him already"-noises coming from Levski seems a bit strange too - if he was that good, wouldn't they want a bidding war from Europe's top clubs?

Wouldn't mind being wrong though, like I've said all along. But I have a feeling this will end in nothing.

edit: Maybe I'm wrong then, goody :)

The updates, as promised.

Derby County have made a new bid for Robbie Savage and I believe it has been accepted. He is due down there tomorrow. I think the fee is a guaranteed £1.5 million plus extras on games etc. As of this moment Sunderland have not responded. So I think he goes to Derby.

Middlesbrough are sniffing round Jason Roberts in a bigger way than before. I don't think they will pay the £4 million, but could go close...and - this part is a guess - I do wonder about the George Boateng swap possibilities. I should stress that is just a hunch, the rest of the info is on the money.

I hope you are wrong too. :)

Maybe another diamond in the rough or some good backup if Roberts is going.

Do you think the dingles will keep hold of Lafferty ? I have seen him play a few times and I reckon he could do well in the prem.

A Dingle pal of mine assures me he won't be going in a hurry unless the offer is big.

However it would be no surprise if there was an offer for Andy Gray shortly.

I think Owen Coyle will be signing about four in this window alone. A centre half, a midfield player, a left winger and a striker.

So I hear anyway... ;)

PS - and they won't all be related.
