blue phil Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Our strikeforce needs strengthening with experienced quality....make no mistake about that. I don't think it does . I'm quite hopeful of a McCarthy/Roberts combo up front this season . £4m would seem a lot to spend on this new bloke with Rigters and Derbyshire in there as well . Time will tell . PS - Is Nonda still with us ...nobody's mentioned him for a while ?

USABlue Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Oh how I pray to god your wrong USA,I really, really do! Wrong end of the stick perhaps SG194, I'm not say ing the club are being stingy.
nicko Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Just a quick update... The manager still wants a striker. No specific names mentioned, but I think we know who some of them on the short-list are. Fulham watched Jason Roberts again last night to check on his fitness and attitude. Their chief scout was there. However he is 'going nowhere.' And I think there is general disappointment that Franny Jeffers did not make the Ipswich move. It will be interesting to see if he is on the trip to Germany or is left behind to consider his future. Must go. An awful lot going on elsewhere. And don't read too much into that.
pleasure Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 nicko, could you see if you find anything more out about this..... i've heard we're looking at signing İbrahim Toraman, from besiktas. he's 25, a right-back or centre back, is considered one of the best defenders in turkey and has played over 30 times for the national team. we could have competition from newcastle and werder bremen, but i'm sure tugay could swing it.
Ricky Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Thoughtb Jeffers looked very sharp and very direct last night for the short time he was on the pitch. He certainly didnt shy away from the ball, and wanted to get involved. I wouldnt be too upset if he stayed put as our 4th or 5th choice striker. It's a pretty strong line up.
pleasure Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Thoughtb Jeffers looked very sharp and very direct last night for the short time he was on the pitch. he looked a lot more muscular as well, last night. still reminds me of a potato, though.
Lee Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Last night Nicko was asked how his website was coming - by Mark Hughes (at least I think thats what he said)
AggyBlue Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Last night Nicko was asked how his website was coming - by Mark Hughes (at least I think thats what he said) So who grassed on Nicko to Mark Hughes or does he read the MB?
Ozz Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 So who grassed on Nicko to Mark Hughes I could offer a guess up Agg. Reckon it's a ginger.
mike at picture Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 I think this is a well-read website you have here. Are you suggesting Mark Hughes actually reads this b******s? Tut tut, on the internet at work! Never heard the like
stuwilky Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 I am aware a certain Mr Williams occasionally pops in.
USABlue Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 I think management would be fools not to check in on the board from time to time.
modes98 Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 I think management would be fools not to check in on the board from time to time. If they are reading, i am after a job! Lee the standard of the breaking news on the official isn't good, you should get Nicko in to write for you McCarthy in the starting line up twice and the year-year deal thing on rigters signing
Fife Rover Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 I could offer a guess up Agg. Reckon it's a ginger. Will someone please take pity on an old man who likes to keep abreast of the times, and tell me (nicely)! What the **** is a Ginger? It gets referred to on here on an almost daily basis, but only in the last few weeks or so. Never seen or heard of it prior to that.

Sandiway Blue Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 http://www.rovers.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Squ...,,10303,00.html notice on the team squad list no 9 is missing i think something will happen soon..........
Eddie Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Did we have a number 9 last season? Rigters might take it.

I could ask my Grandsons, but I have a strong feeling that would only embarass them.
Eddie Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 That's what I've always taken it as, if it has some other meaning then it will come as news to me.
Sandiway Blue Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Isnt that last years squad numbers? you might be right,i`m not sure. i think rovers will come up with one good signing before the season starts. hughes said he is now looking for 1st team players not just squad players, given our 1st 11 is pretty decent, i think it is something hughes will not rush into.when something happens i`m sure nicko will give us a nudge!
