An event where Hughes hands were tied. It appears to me he was lead right up the garden path by messers Bellamy and agent.

Agreed.

Bellamy had a release clause which had become 'common knowledge' and I don't imagine it was leaked from the Rovers side was it?

What should the club have done instead - refused the offer from Liverpool and been in breach of contract, allowing Bellamy to walk away for nothing?

It's quite unbelievable what Wenger has done at Arsenal. He started off the entire process by purchasing Anelka for £500,000 and selling him for £23 million, or whatever it was. That enabled him to bring in Henry etc and rest, as they say, is history.

No wonder they have such an incredible stadium, they don't really need to pass funds down to him, he'll pretty much generate those on his own. Imagine how much players like Fabregas, Van Persie, Adebayor, Toure, Eboue etc. are all worth compared to what he bought them for...then there's next generation coming through that will either fill the first team or be sold on for massive profit.

Could he possibly be the greatest in the world at the moment? I know if I owned a football club I wouldn't want anyone else in charge of it.

Fabulous manager, but....

Lets not forget about some of the money he has wasted on total dross. Wiltord for £13m, Wright £7m, Jeffers £8m, Luzney £2m, Van Bronckhorst £8.5m, Cygan £2m, Reyes (good player but still didnt work out) up to £16m. Thats over £50m that has been squandered on players who in all honesty did not make the grade. The were also resold on either a complete or very significant loss

exactly, i really do hope Hughes has got someone coming in very soon in Centre midfield we only have Tugay really to count on and he can't play every week. Dunn and Reid are struggling with injurys so that just leaves us with just Tugay

Now the majority of that post has me really worried. Rely on Tugay and our season is over, we will struggle to finish top 14.

Tugay is no longer the player he was, in fact he is a total liability nowadays which is a sad way to end such a fabulous career at Ewood.

Bit harsh that. As pointed out elsewhere, if he had a couple of wingers to pick out rather than everyone congregating on the left wing, or a forward to run into space (other than RSC), he might look a bit better. Sure, he's not going to burst through the middle on a surging run but then he never has done.

Spot on Bob. Tugay's game is more calmer than that! :brfcsmilie:

One problem has been MGP and Bentley both on the left wing and Benni playing in midfield in order to get the ball.

Get a confident box-to-box midfielder and we'll look much better again. We've just lost our shape.

Or if Abromovich's ex-wife or a bored and retired Bill Gates fancied taking over BRFC. Dont forget the fact that when we were paying top dollar Zidane was allegedly sitting by the phone waiting for a call from Ray Harford.

....and allegedly, so was Christophe Dugarry at the same time.......

Maybe not for Rovers, but that was how his game was in his younger days. Thats how he played his game at Galatasaray.

EDIT: And btw, Tugay haven't been too bad lately has he? The games I've seen lately he have done alright.

Calm down, calm down. I'm not criticizing the club over that I was simply answering Ricky's assertion that Hughes has never sold anyone without a replacement.

You're probably right pks1984 - I never saw him for Gala. Maybe it should read "but then he never has done for Rovers."

tbh I never saw him play for Gala either. So was probably wrong of me stating it like that, but I know from seeing him playing for Turkey when he was younger that he was more of a dynamic midfielder, getting in the opposition box with lots of runs. And if you look up on youtube on videos of Tugay, almost all his goals for Gala comes from deep runs into the opposition box. Thats how I came to that conclusion that he played his game like that for Gala. ;)

When you put it like that BRFC4eva I cannot understand why Arsenal never sacked him!

Like share dealing I think being on the right side of a 60% success rate is a must benchmark for a successful manager. Hughes has certainly not got them all right has he?

I think now is the time for a little confession.

When we were first linked with him - I edited his Wikipedia page. The 100m thing was all my doing.

I was seeing if it would appear anywhere - like it has in this MSN article.

Classic :D

Bah. I take it he's the first white man ever to clock under 10s anyway. I smell agent's hype.

edit: or brfcs.com mischief! Next unknown player we're linked with, I'm going to make him a judo blackbelt.
