Tim Southampton Rover Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Lets put it this way - I just hope we don't sign him based on the Wikipedia article I hope you didn't edit Frank Lampards England record. That looks quite good considering how rubbish he's been!

Exiled_Rover Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I'm guessing Diarra didnt go to Arsenal for anything like that fee. Unfortunately soccerbase doesnt have a transfer fee for him. Makes you wonder how Arsenal can demand such a huge fee for a fringe player. I wonder if Arsene still wants Gamst??? Wiki suggests it was £2m.
LeftWinger Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Wiki suggests it was £2m. ...and I haven't edited that.
Oklahoma Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 The german site transfermarkt gives Diarra a price of 4.5 million €. Could be in our reach.
nicko Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 The german site transfermarkt gives Diarra a price of 4.5 million €. Could be in our reach. That would be wrong...the fee is £6 million...that is from a club who tried to buy him.
bluebruce Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 http://www.levski.bg/Levski/info/statistic...do?playerId=686 This is his current record for Levski from their official site Pretty nice...121 matches, 54 goals. However, using the minutes he's played that is supplied there, and doing a little calculation, it's even more impressive. He's played the equivalent of just under 76 full matches. And he has scored a goal, on average, every 126.4 minutes. For those who think it's only the Bulgarian league, Dimitar Berbatov scored 25 in 50 games (I don't know about the minutes though when he was playing for CSKA Sofia, or 37 in 65 in all competitions. From roughly age 18 to 21, which is how old this lad is now. Sounds very intriguing...but we need central midfielders before we blow the Savage cash on forwards.
Rover 'til I die Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I'm confused, was that bit about the Bulgarian doing the 100m in under 10 secs.... a ) The Truth b ) Made up by someone here and added to the Wiki Sky Sports are quoting this "fact" now and I don't know who's taking the mick? http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_3030892,00.html
Blackpool_Rover Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 it was made up by 'leftwinger' on here...brilliant
revolutionrock! Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 it was made up by 'leftwinger' on here...brilliant But was it?? He may just be trying to grasp some fame , however sad that fame would be .
rebelmswar Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 But was it?? He may just be trying to grasp some fame , however sad that fame would be . I think a person would have to beyond sad to make that sort of thing up. I am sure he did do it, if you want you can check the editing history of wiki.
AlanSheppard Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 If the guy was able to clock 100m in sub 10 seconds he'd be a contender for medals at the European Athletics Championships and Bulgarian National Record Holder. The Bulgarian national record's currently 10.13 seconds according to http://www.athletics.netbg.com/thebest_en.html
bluebruce Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Anelka signed for Bolton Summer 2006 and has scored 21 in 56 appearances McCarthy signed for us at the same time and scored 35 in 66 appearances. I think we got the better one and he cost £5m less and probably lower wages. Except Bolton are going to make a huge profit. It remains to be seen what will happen with us and McCarthy.
Martin Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 That would be wrong...the fee is £6 million...that is from a club who tried to buy him. How old is Cisse now? 26, 27? I don't think that sounds too hefty in the grand scheme of things. Mind you he has never recovered from his leg break. If Michael Chopra is worth £5m... ...actually perhaps Sunderland and Roy Keane aren't the best benchmark.
nicko Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I think Cisse is the type of player you take on loan...but Marseille want money. So I don't think it is the likeliest of moves to Rovers. If they are going to spend it surely has to be on a midfield player or two.
EwoodGlory Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Must of been a lot of transfer gossip at Sunderland today, their forums keep going offline
thenodrog Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 The only white bloke able to do 100m in 10 secs would be coming out of the back of a plane.
Macky Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Bring back Nonda....... Wouldn't fancy Cisse to be honest, think we should keep hold of Roberts and think about replacing Tugay.
Dingle Basher Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport...atovs_steps.php LET fell into left wingers trap also, just shows how lazy they are !
herbergeehh Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I'd certainly sell Roberts for 3,5 million, it's a very good price for a hardworking and physically very robust player with limited technique. He's not the best finisher either, though I think he has a decent scoring ratio allround? In short; a good player to have around, but by selling Roberts we can fund a really good midfielder, and by selling Savage and freeing up his wages we can fund a decent replacement for Roberts
brian_gallagher85 Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Doesn't really suprise me if it's true that they all followed the wiki "facts"...just look at the great work in the Mirror regarding the German kid yesterday (not a dig at you Nicko) . I wonder if there is any significance in the fact that OM appear to be after a new man upfront from the article on OM earlier.
herbergeehh Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport...atovs_steps.php LET fell into left wingers trap also, just shows how lazy they are ! So basically what this Bulgarian guy is saying is that Valeri has decent technique, but lacks physique and isn't strong in the air. And he must work on his goalscoring aswell, so it's basically the new Berbatov. Erm..
1864roverite Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 The info about Boro allegedly having offered money for Roberts has come from a parent I know from the academy. I dont know if its truthful but like I said maybe Nicko can shed the appropriate light. Saw the Savage interview on sky and something tells me from Savages answers that there is probably another club wanting to speak to him tonight or otherwise why would there be a reason not to sign this afternoon.
revolutionrock! Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 So we will buy a CM and a Striker, with cash from Savage , Roberts and any other Hughes can gather. This should be fun! But saying that , Hughes has worked wonders in the transfer market.
briansol Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 So basically what this Bulgarian guy is saying is that Valeri has decent technique, but lacks physique and isn't strong in the air. And he must work on his goalscoring aswell, so it's basically the new Berbatov. Erm.. Basicly the Bulgarian version of Gally then..
