nicko Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 On the Sunderland 'rumours' - all you can say is that the three players who were supposed to be naughty boys all played for the reserves last night. So I don't think the wild tales are true. Let's leave it at that. On the team news, I heard someone had an injury that was a bit of a blow but that has yet to be confirmed. Jason Roberts has asked the club to lower their £4 million asking price. As I said yesterday, Diarra and Cisse have got big price tags - and if they move there is a queue around the block.
EwoodGlory Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 I think Diarra would be better off going out on loan, this will enable him to find first team football and keep his spot in the France team for Euro '08. Arsenal seem an ideal team for his football and can't see why he would want to leave on a permanent deal. I doubt we would be able to get him in front of the other teams but 'shy bairns get nowt'. If Emre becomes available I would love us to make a move, i've been saying we should go for him for a while. A long term successor to fellow countryman Tugay.
Cocker Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 On the team news, I heard someone had an injury that was a bit of a blow but that has yet to be confirmed. Not Reid again please.
LeftWinger Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 But was it?? He may just be trying to grasp some fame , however sad that fame would be . I don't know how I could prove it - but I did edit it - like someone said you can check the edit history. I did it when he was first linked with us - and the link is somewhere on here. I seem to remember when a billionaire was linked with the Coventry takeover - Nicko posted a link from Wikipedia on here about him. So I thought that journalists must google these names when they've never heard of them - and usually there is a wikipedia link at the top of the search results. I just wanted to see if it would make it into any newspapers/websites - and it has. A quick comparison with the Bulgarian 100m record would probably reveal to them it was obviously made up First Linked on Here The first mention of him was on here - a link to an Arsenal website. If you check the date and compare it to the wikipedia edit history - that will back up my claims! Or you could just belive me
rovers1993 Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 mirror linking us to hasan sas with his price taged said to be just under 1m.. any truth nicko?
krislu Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 mirror linking us to hasan sas with his price taged said to be just under 1m.. any truth nicko? Hope not, if true it sounds like real desperation from our part.
rovers1993 Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 heres the link btw... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/200...89520-20279464/
Rover 'til I die Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Hope not, if true it sounds like real desperation from our part. Not really. If we were buying him for 5 million then yes I'd agree but sounds to me like we'd get a player better than Savage who's 2 years younger and make a decent little profit to boot. Not bad business really......

If we were buying him for 5 million then yes I'd agree but sounds to me like we'd get a player better than Savage who's 2 years younger and make a decent little profit to boot. Not bad business really...... Sas is more of a winger. I fear that if this is true then Hughes will stick Sas on the right wing and move Bentley in the centre of midfield...
LeftWinger Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Sas is more of a winger. I fear that if this is true then Hughes will stick Sas on the right wing and move Bentley in the centre of midfield... Can't he play on the left? I can think of a better option then
krislu Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Can't he play on the left? I can think of a better option then Don't know I always saw him as a right winger. If he indeed can play on the left I guess he can't do mcuh worse than Morten.
Lathund Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Bentley could do a good job on the left. I much prefer him on the right where we'll see more crosses, but he's got a good shot on him, a decent left foot, and there's always inswinging crosses so that'd at least be an option. Warnock can supply the left-footed crosses.
Lurid Coat Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 On the team news, I heard someone had an injury that was a bit of a blow but that has yet to be confirmed. I'm going to throw a fit if this "someone" is Santa Cruz, Bentley or Friedel. As for the Hasan Sas story, I'd actually quite like him to join. He can play as both a left and right winger, and I think he can do a job as a striker too. If he's only going to set us back £1m, I say go for him.
nicko Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 mirror linking us to hasan sas with his price taged said to be just under 1m.. any truth nicko? Not mine...and news to me. Hasan has always been a good player, but he's 31. He used to rely on his pace, so that would worry me these days. If he's going cheap it has to be a possible in the current climate. If not, forget it.
Lurid Coat Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 I've seen him play a handful of times the last 6 months, both for Turkey and Galatasaray, and he's been impressive every time. If he's available for under £1m, I think we should give it a go, especially considering we'll get around £1.5 - 2m for Savage.
USABlue Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 --> QUOTE(Ste B @ Jan 8 2008, 16:01 ) 573124[/snapback] Anybody stupid enough to post it will know exactly why it should be blanked. Actually, its not my job, but I dont want to get sued, or this messageboard closed down. If you dont like that, then tough. EDIT - Its not open for debate, I'd suggest that anybody who is interested trys asking on a sunderland forum to see what response they get, or maybe use google. Now I am totally intrigued. I am far to lazy to use the google thingy. Not sure I like your tone either.
nicko Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 The 'stories' are little short of scandalous, so frankly they should not be repeated. I have to say the guys who run the site are spot-on about this issue. Argument and opinion, but when it goes libellous - and possibly criminal - then you can't be spreading that kind of stuff.
Hasta Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Plus it's hardly breaking news, it was on the betfair forum before last weekend.

Correct me if I'm wrong but no one can sue for libel as long as you refer to them with an unknown nickname. So if I said "The Aussie Winker Spammer is a greedy c*nt who turned down Liverpool for money" then I couldn't be sued. So why not just tell us the stories with nicknames then you won't get in trouble. Besides you don't expect us to believe that everything in the papers and on TV is 100% true? The libel laws must be broken hundreds of times a day....

And I don't think it's right to spread probably malicious stories about people - no matter what names you might call them.

As an individual is identiable it is still potentially libellous regardless of whether you use an actual name or not.
