Rover 'til I die Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Don't you mean sniff sniff... He he. By the way, I've meaning to ask this for a week. Which Journo was SAF having rant about the other day? When he said "this guy sits in his house waiting for agents to ring him and feed him whatever their imagination throws up". It was over the Ronaldo to Madrid rumour....
herbergeehh Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Can you tell us which player is injured?? To use a George Costanza-method, unless you say any other player, I will log out thinking Santa Cruz' injury is more serious than first expected.

I believe the gentleman who wrote that story was Harry Harris.
G Somerset Rover Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Can you tell us which player is injured?? To use a George Costanza-method, unless you say any other player, I will log out thinking Santa Cruz' injury is more serious than first expected. Didn't it say on the official site the other day that Emerton had picked up an unknown injury? Could be the player in question and thus meaning that we're screwed at RB. Edit: Nicko I hear Boro are in for Fred. How much do you reckon he'll be valued at?
nicko Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Nicko I hear Boro are in for Fred. How much do you reckon he'll be valued at? I believe the fee Lyon want is £10 million, but that will have to come down. Boro must be selling somebody - probably Downing and probably to Tottenham.
herbergeehh Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Fred is a brilliant player. Gutted every time I see the money being spent by sh1t clubs like Boro, too bad our wage structure and probably transfer budget can't compete with them. As for Emerton's injury, that's a well known one by now, so unfortunately I have a feeling it's something else. Maybe Nicko's picked up something, a gashed leg or something
Dunnfc Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Hopefully its Mokoena but got a feeling it could be our admiral Nelsen. Or maybe Neeks is going on holiday again
G Somerset Rover Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 As for Emerton's injury, that's a well known one by now, so unfortunately I have a feeling it's something else. Maybe Nicko's picked up something, a gashed leg or something You know what I mean though, it could be that it's much worse than first feared, and what with Ooijer being injured and Zurab's game in that position going down like a fart in an elevator, we would have to re-think our January budget. Just a guess by the way and I for one like most am just praying that it's not Friedel, Bentley or Roque.
thenodrog Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Gutted every time I see the money being spent by sh1t clubs like Boro, Maybe there is a message there somewhere herbergeeh?
thenodrog Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Nope...........you need to think things through a little further. Money is very necessary for ultimate success BUT it does not guarantee it and is frequently the last refuge of poor management. blah blah
herbergeehh Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Never said anything to the contrary, did I?
they_think_its_all_rover Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 It's sickening that an honest well run club like us probably has less money to spend in this transfer window than a team like Leeds, in league one!
Claytons Left Boot Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Never said anything to the contrary, did I? Quite correct and just what I was thinking. He's not as clever as he thinks, but a smart arse he certainly is.
bazza Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Physioroom.com says Roque has knee injury.......no return date
robborover Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Physioroom.com says Roque has knee injury.......no return date Lol he has always had knackered knees. So hopefully it's nothing to worry about. At this rate we could have about 3-5 reserve/youth players in the team on Sunday. Sky Sports says that Notlob have a bid accepted for Matty Taylor. Nicko: Any Rovers interest in him?
bob fleming Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Sky Sports says that Notlob have a bid accepted for Matty Taylor. Nicko: Any Rovers interest in him? Chairman Wiiliams - "Not interested"
rovers_rob Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Emerton and Santa Cruz are injured, Reid is still finding his feet after being out for 14 months, Sav has been sold, Roberts probably won't play for us again and the axe isn't available till Feb ! Is there any rovers interest in anyone ?!?
Hughesy Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 To be honest im not too sure the papers will know before we buy because Hughes & Co are usually very quiet!!
G Somerset Rover Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 It's clear that money doesn't buy success, however could you imagine what the additions of say Diarra and Fred/Saviola would do to the Rovers team? It is frustrating but even if Boro are after Fred, then like Nicko says, they'd probably have to sell their most valuable asset in Downing to fund the deal. With regards to Diarra, actually the more I think about it the less likely I think a move to Rovers becomes-regardless of our dire financial situation. Diarra is desperate to move so that he can keep his place in the French squad, however when Julien Faubert moved to the Hammers Domenech told him that he made a bad mistake in joining one of the 'lesser' clubs. I'd imagine that if we did go in for him and he asked Domenech what he thought of the possible move, then the coach would probably ask him who we were.
John Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Diarra would be a top quality signing. He can pass the ball, keep the ball and break up play. Sadly, in my view, it will never happen.
OJRovers Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Physioroom.com says Roque has knee injury.......no return date Hopefuly this is similar to RSC's knee injury that kept him from playing for Paraguay a couple of months ago. Maybe a smoke screen to damped any interest in him from clubs that can't afford Anelka/Berbatov.
robborover Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Chairman Wiiliams - "Not interested" Wow thanks Bob, JW is on the ball answering my questions quickly!
bob fleming Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Wow thanks Bob, JW is on the ball answering my questions quickly! He's good like that but it could well be that he has little to do these days. I suppose he could be sorting out our thrid rate "Club Shop" (whatever happened with that - weren't the Fans Forum told that something was imminent at the start of the season?), or taking a good hard look at the success of The Academy, or even taking a rather large cap in his hand and having a word with THE TRUSTEES to support our manager this January* - but there you go. (* Prepares to eat humble pie when Rovers spend X Millions on superstar totally out of the blue)
