brian_gallagher85 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Even I wouldn't want us paying that much for him ...lets see Diarra for £5.5m or Hunt for £4.5m
Taggart Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Correct me if i`m wrong, as i may be, bu ti thought that Hughes had just signed a new contract, with a rolling 12 month notice period. This means that if Hughes is intending to move on, i.e Man U, then he needs to state his intentions and give notice (lots of it!) I think the fact he signed that, shows his committment to Blackburn Rovers to be honest. The only way around this, reading between the lines, and if i am correct, is if the club accept a renumeration package from the club wanting him as manager and hughes wants to move on. I don`t think Rovers will accept something for him, unless it is silly silly money,a nd to be honest, as a Rovers supporter, I wouldn`t accept money for him as he is an essential key, in the building block of the Rovers Squad and club !
Hasta Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 That's a little bit blinkered Tagagrt. Hughes signed the rolling contract probably to protect the club so that if and when he does move on we get a compensation package for him. In return I believe that Sparky will have had a nice increase in pay. If Newcastle come in for him and he really does want to go then he'll go. We might end up getting quite a substantial fee but, when you think Sunderland want Hunt for £4.5 million, then if the Geordies have him as their top target they'll pay it. Personally I don't think he'll take it. However although people don't like admitting it, after the big 4 Newcastle and Tottenham with the money they've got to spend are the 'biggest' jobs out there inthe PL. It would be very risky for Mark hughes to sit at Rovers waiting for the United job to come up unless he's already sounded out. If he's not and it did come up chances are he won't get it. For example it comes up in the summer - Mourinho or Hughes?
ffan Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 NICKO CAN YOU SHED ANY LIGHT ON THIS: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11681_3036175,00.html OR http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11681_3036667,00.html THANK YOU.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Marlon King... why? you could have Jason Roberts for that! stunning pic of Woy in the other article
Dunnfc Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 http://http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19...3036175,00.html You mean this image of Woy.
modes98 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11681_3036667,00.html £4m offer rejected by watford for king.
alexanders Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 £4m offer rejected by watford for king. I Hope they are interested and may do an approach for Jason Roberts at £4 M. Correct me if I am wrong, but he has been linked to Fulham earlier hasn't he?
LeftWinger Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I Hope they are interested and may do an approach for Jason Roberts at £4 M. Correct me if I am wrong, but he has been linked to Fulham earlier hasn't he? You're correct - but that was under Sanchez - so we'll have to hope Roy comes in with a 7m bid
joey_big_nose Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Personally I don't think he'll take it. However although people don't like admitting it, after the big 4 Newcastle and Tottenham with the money they've got to spend are the 'biggest' jobs out there inthe PL. I don't know about that. With all the investment flying about now Man City, Everton and Villa (with West Ham and Pompey not far behind) are all just as attractive as Spurs and Newcastle. Its getting more competitive. Sadly Rovers aren't in the financial stakes.
Mozzer Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 so with tugay injuried, surely blackburn will be signing someone before the bolton game...
rebelmswar Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 so with tugay injuried, surely blackburn will be signing someone before the bolton game... You would hope/think but if Hughes is in talks with Newcastle is that possible?
1864roverite Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I would be very suprised to see Rovers making a signing BEFORE the Bolton game as it appears all too quiet. My theory is that Rovers have already been approached by NUFC which in turn has stopped the club in its tracks, whatever position they may have found themselves in at the beginning of the week. Until I see Mr Williams or Hughes himself coming out and stating he is remaining at Ewood then I have to believe that Rovers may have lost their manager yet again to Newcastle. Over the years, they have consistently tried to base their club on ours by taking our managers and players. They have seen what MH can do with his staff and now see him ripe for the picking. Along with him will go Bowen and the other staff and it will not surprise me one bit to see players such as Samba, Bentley and MGP go with him, such is the position Rovers currenly find themselves in.
USRoverME Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Okay, lets sell all of Rovers players and our backroom staff for all of Newcastles players and backroom staff, and say, 50 mil in extra compensation. Sounds like a deal to me.
Dunnfc Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 If Hughes does go which i hope dosent happen, who do you want to replace him with? Id have a shortlist of: Berg, Donis, Bowen, Boothroyd Correa - AS Nancy manager. With Berg being my preffered choice.
Rover down South Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 If Hughes does go which i hope dosent happen, who do you want to replace him with? Id have a shortlist of: Berg, Donis, Bowen, Boothroyd Correa - AS Nancy manager. With Berg being my preffered choice. None of those I'm afraid. It would have to be Martin Jol or Mike Newell.
Dunnfc Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Berg? Why? The guys a Rover, i think it would be a big advantage to us to have an ex rovers player as manager, because theyve been here know what our fans are like and theyd know the board and know how the club is run which is surely only a positive thing. Why not give Berg a chance never know could be Hughes in desguise, i mean give him an 12 mth contract if hughes unfortunatly did go and see where we are at the end of the season, i mean i think we only need 11 pts to be safe. Perhaps a Norweigian football fan could confirm that hes a good manager because he seems to be a guy who helps to bring allot of young talent through and in his first norwegian tipperleagen season he finsished 3 rd in the league behind Valeranga and Rosenborg. Never would have Ince, the guys a dick and plays the racial victim whenever he dosent agree with something.
broadsword Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Mike Newell - no bleeding thanks! Paul Ince perhaps, yes.
bringdunnback Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Where is these worried signs that Highes is leaving, why would he go, there hasn't been any major rumours linking him with the job.
rebelmswar Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 mark hughes yes The return of Darth Souness
