LeftWinger Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Two to three weeks. You will have two senior but slightly injury-prone central midfielders in your team on Sunday, so I would agree that one or even two midfielders is an absolute must. Do you always know before Rovers sign someone - or occasionally do they surprise you by signing someone you didn't know they were after? I'm clutching at straws here!

Mozzer Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 nicko, do you have any idea who the few in sight are???? with anelka being hughes' first choice-and im assuming willing to pay over 10million for him, surely he has someone else lined up... darren fletcher - he wont get in united team now..and i think he could be a good signing..abit like bentley and warnock-leaving bigger clubs but to play more..

Impressed with your 'mystic meg' like powers of perception Nicko!! Is there any news on Lee Cattermole - I know Rovers have had hime watched on a number of occasions. Cheers
EwoodGlory Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 NEWCASTLE - as told here repeatedly, it's Redknapp's if he wants it. I think he is swaying that way. Any change in the 60/40?
nicko Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Any change in the 60/40? Think it is about 80-20, swaying.
Mozzer Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 i had portsmouth right up there for a european place-i dont think they will get it now.. harry redknapp is like mark hughes in the transfer market-a shrewd buyer, this season he was given money and has got portsmouth right up there(i thought they have been the best side to visit ewood this season)..newcastle fans need to be patient tho... nicko, has that young south korean come on trial yet, and if so any word on how he has done??
G Somerset Rover Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 BULGARIAN STRIKER - doubtful...Rovers want him to stay longer, he is fed up waiting on an answer. You can't blame his club though if they want him back. Somebody mentioned on this board about Samba's agent saying that Rovers are a little cheeky in constantly getting players in on trial and you'd have to believe that he's right. Guess this is what comes with having no money at all. Do you always know before Rovers sign someone - or occasionally do they surprise you by signing someone you didn't know they were after? I'm clutching at straws here! As mentioned earlier Hughes was interviewed on sky sports and couln't have seemed less happy if he'd tried. No players on the horizon at all and either he's a very good liar or he's telling the truth. I said it in the Bolton thread but I just cannot believe that we're going into a huge game on Sunday with two central midfielders who are barely fit. I actually find it astonishing.
nicko Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 nicko, has that young south korean come on trial yet, and if so any word on how he has done?? He's been over for a week and I believe it went well enough. If it is all agreed I think he will be sent out to Cercle Brugge until he gets a permit or whatever. So he won't be around the first team just yet.
Rob of the Rovers Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 I don't understand everyone's desperation for a new midfielder before the weekend. I'd much rather we took our time and signed the right man rather than rush something and waste what little funds we have. Even if Reid and/or Dunn are unavailable, the likes of Emerton, Bentley, Gallagher and Kizhanishvilli could all do a job in the short term.

Or would he be free?
nicko Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Is that our 1.5 mil gone then? Or was he free? Not at that stage yet...

Emerton is injured, if Bentley were to play in the middle then who would play right wing? I'd imagine that Zurab will have to play right back with Emo out, and as for Gally...
Dunnfc Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Emerton is injured, if Bentley were to play in the middle then who would play right wing? I'd imagine that Zurab will have to play right back with Emo out, and as for Gally... Team for me Friedel Khizanishvili Samba Nelsen Warnock Bentley Reid Dunn Gamst Cruz McCarthy in answer to moving bents inside and some on the right derbs has played there before, but not effectivly but what about rigters he can play on the wing?
tcj_jones Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Khizanishvili should never be made to play right back ever again after being ripped to pieces by Petrov against City. I would much rather a youngster play because, while they might not be ready to make the step up, at least right back would be their specialized position and they would know what they were doing.
rebelmswar Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Team for me Friedel Khizanishvili Samba Nelsen Warnock Bentley Reid Dunn Gamst Cruz McCarthy in answer to moving bents inside and some on the right derbs has played there before, but not effectivly but what about rigters he can play on the wing? That looks good except the right back, to hell with it, why dont we try Samba as rightback? He likes to get forward, slip Khiza to center and let the big man run riot down the right. Even Reid is an option for right midfield if Bents wants to play behind the strikers.
ihateburnley Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Khizanishvili should never be made to play right back ever again after being ripped to pieces by Petrov against City Doesn't Petrov rip everyone to pieces though? To be fair I don't think any of our defenders could have stopped Petrov that day.
BringOnNextSeason Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 just been on ssn that were after cisse aswell as koumas. any truth on cisse nicko?
Mozzer Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 when emerton moved to right back i would say he stopped petrov.. petrov has advantage because he is far quicker then zurab-against emerton he hardly got a look in..eventually petrov moved to the right wing.. i think samba is needed in central defence to deal with kevin davies..
only2garners Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Emerton is injured, if Bentley were to play in the middle then who would play right wing? I'd imagine that Zurab will have to play right back with Emo out, and as for Gally... Presumably if Ooijer is fit (see Rovers website) then he will play at right back?
andrew92 Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Friedel reid samba nelson warnock Derbyshire Dunn Mr. consistent Bentley santa Mr consistent 2 or is ooijer can play him in for derbyshire witht reid in the middle, 2-1 rovers, samba and santa
modes98 Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 why dont we try Samba as rightback? You saw what happened the last time we took samba out of central defence. 3 soft goals and half of ewood leaving early booing. I'd still be tempted to throw Kane in at RB rather than play Zurab there. He looked way out of his depth against Man Citeh, his lack of pace is a real problem in that position. Even if Kane doesn't do amazingly well he is still a RB and has knowledge of that position. Also Samba would be covering him, which he does well enough for Brett. It can't be to encouraging for these youngsters if every time there is nobody to play in their position we throw someone in there who can't do the job at all. If they aren't up to it then fair enough but some of them have been on the edge of the first team for a season or 2 now.
Mozzer Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 i hope we are interested in cisse-he is the sort of player we need to give the rest of the team a boost..he has a decent goalscoring record aswell-even for liverpool-despite him playing wing.. would it mean we sell mcarthy tho??
Roar of the Rover Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Petrov wasn't great againts us, He just got lucky because Sparky put Zura at right back, all Petrov did was outpace Zura, where was he in the second half?

He put in some great crosses when he got in the positions. Bianchi missed a sitter - and I'm sure he put in another amazing cross in 2nd half.
