Beta Ray Bill Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Why? Still no news, drowning in information, startved for knowledge. You go the dingles game Nicko? Thinking that new members or members who haven't visited for a while will see a 400+ page thread and spend hours ploughing through. It there was a new thread that quickly summarised everything and the original was archived with a link, if they so wished they could still read everything. Many messageboards have a page limit per thread to make it more accessible to it's membership.

nicko Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 One look at yesterday's results and another at the table tells the story. A win at Bolton today and you are three points off fourth place and one of the few top-four contenders with nothing else on your plates. Your strikers should scare their centre halves, your centre halves should not be bullied by Davies. Your midfield just has to compete and run around more than theirs. Crisis? I'm having a half-time full-time double result...
gumboots Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Hughes did a comprehensive job of ruling himself out on Friday- many Rovers' supporters have underestimated the weight of Sparky's comments. If he were leaving the door open he would not have gone on to criticise what had happened to Allardyce and back Allardyce to come back. It is over to Sparky to make sure the players fully understand that today and I am sure he is made of the stuff that will. Glad you read that one as i did and not as the doom mongers on here. It wasn't what he said about our club because he's never going to swear the undying loyalty that Redknapp now seems to think is appropriate at Portsmouth. Redknapp's at the end of his career, Hughes is at the start of his. However, without going so far as to say the Newcastle chairman's rubbish for sacking Sam he made his feelings on chairmen who want to interfere in the day to day running of teams clear. Add to that the comments attributed to Ashley in the papers today about I'm going to do it my way and you'd be even more wary of a guy who gets his chairman to back his manager and encourage him to consider transfers to the point where he's making bids for players and then sacks him suddenly when he identifies the target, gets the player's and club's agreement in principle and comes to ask for the cash.
bob fleming Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 There will be a bit of news about a potential arrival, tied in with the selling club trying to raise money. The target is not my idea of good news. Crisis? I'm having a half-time full-time double result... Leave it out nicko - half the Rovers fans in the world are trying to have a nervous breakdown and you keep coming on here all level headed and positive. It's not good you know. Having said that this is a massive game for us. Time we put an end to this poor period (yeah I know we won the last two league games). As an aside - there was nothing in The People that I could see about a potential arrival? (I've not had the chance to read it all yet mind, just the Transfer Gossip pages - I've two small children / lunatics to contend with).

Not had chance to read it all yet Bob - how long have you been up?
bob fleming Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Not had chance to read it all yet Bob - how long have you been up? Since half five with the kids. It's been great. Not. There's been too much crying going on in this house. Breaking down at the slightest thing. "Overtired" is the word I'm looking for. The kids are just as bad. Anyway, back to the important stuff...

bob fleming Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Squirrels? No, they're definitely children.
mattjansen Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 No, they're definitely children. Best thing in life when they sleep
Nelsta Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Best thing in life when they sleep Best thing in life is when there granparents take them away for the weekend.
MCMC1875 Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 No, they're definitely children. Bloody 'ell Bob - you have got your hands full!

I agree with you, but then someone waves a few million in your face and you start to think that maybe he wasn't treated so badly...
herbergeehh Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Dario Simic linked with us today, any news on that Nicko? Decent defender. Also, Cissè is again mentioned..
Nelsta Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Always liked simic as a player.but the question has to be asked wether he can do it in the prem.at 32 it would be sink or swim.
RevidgeBlue Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Hughes did a comprehensive job of ruling himself out on Friday- many Rovers' supporters have underestimated the weight of Sparky's comments. I have to disagree with you completely on that, Sparky made a comprehensive job of NOT ruling himself out - it was a superb piece of spin that Tony Blair or Gordon Brown would have been proud of. What he did say in effect was that he is relatively happy at Rovers so it would take a suitably tempting package to lure him away plus he would not tolerate any interference on the playing side of things.
nicko Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 As an aside - there was nothing in The People that I could see about a potential arrival? (I've not had the chance to read it all yet mind, just the Transfer Gossip pages - I've two small children / lunatics to contend with). It was part of the Wigan bid for Olivier Kapo story. If Steve Bruce gets him he will probably sell Koumas for less - just to get rid. Koumas was mentioned towards the end. There will be another name - and this one is definitely coming in the next few days - in the Mirror tomorrow. Still no word on Newcastle...on either the name I got or the Mark Hughes front. And by the way I would expect your central midfielders to be Dunn and Reid today. It's their chance to save the club a few quid. I hope they are up to it and, more importantly, fit for the 90 minutes. I can't see the Dario Simic link making sense, it's probably a come-on for another club to try. Fulham also linked with him. Cisse, as I said before, is one of those Last Dance at the Disco jobs on January 31.
bringdunnback Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 There will be another name - and this one is definitely coming in the next few days - in the Mirror tomorrow. Is the new incomer a trial or permanent deal.

Sandiway Blue Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 In other words, he comprehensively ruled himself out of the Newcastle job. Exactly how i read it too. a Hughes appointment would go down like a sack of spuds with the barcodes.
bob fleming Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 In other words, he comprehensively ruled himself out of the Newcastle job. Ashley - ""I bought this club to have some fun and I wasn't having much fun at all. So I did what I should have done in the first place and decided it was time to run the club the way I wanted."
nicko Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Is the new incomer a trial or permanent deal. Trial with a view to a loan.
thenodrog Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Ashley - ""I bought this club to have some fun and I wasn't having much fun at all. So I did what I should have done in the first place and decided it was time to run the club the way I wanted." Cue the Directors box being relocated behing the goals and em all having to put on as much weight as ashley and wear stripey shirts with their bellies sticking out.
Alan75 Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Ashley - ""I bought this club to have some fun and I wasn't having much fun at all. So I did what I should have done in the first place and decided it was time to run the club the way I wanted." And Hughes said "I am in a very strong position here, I have a great relationship with the chairman and the board and that is really important. "When managers have that relationship it's a big decision to forego that as the relationship is the key to whether we can be successful." Hughes and Ashley both wanting to run the club in their own way then I think there would be a conflict from the start.
Alan75 Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Trial with a view to a loan. Theres a separate topic on Barton's trial.
