When you look at other clubs and who they are wasting their money on this is a good summer to stand back and observe the transfer market.

Spot on.

The squad at the moment looks good - add reid, sav, ooijer and a fit roberts, plus rigters and we should be fine.

I think we'll watch until the end of august and maybe wait until january when we'll know the result of the possible takeover.

Mido is an interesting one. He will be more available than ever at Tottenham and cheaper than he was before.

The manager obviously rates him highly, so watch that space.

I have heard something about Mido having a new club, but it's in another part of the country. That's one for the People, btw.

There I go, teasing again...

Cheers for the information Nicko.

Will you be going to Germany this weekend for the pre-season game? If so I will see you there.

If you want a match review from me after 17 German beers your more than welcome. <_<

do you think sparky will try to get mido this time, after we failed last year, personally he was moaning thaty he wasnt getting into spurs line up last season and im sure with the current strikers at our disposal he would do the same here, personally someone like rigters would do for me, someone with a bit more experience, still young, hungry to do well, woth a fairly good goal scoring record, someone that is a bit different form the current strikers we have and someone that could make us stronger. only the gaffer knows who that is going to be :rover:

In one way, I'd like to see us spend £6-7m on a striker, would love to see a player rated highly enough by our brilliant manager to earn that transfer fee. At the same time, (possible) gems like Rigters for 300k - it's more likely to be a good investment.

Posting just to post again, anyone else looking forward to kick off the new season?

Mido is a good player, he's fantastic in the air and with the service he would get from our wide men he would score goals.

However like Hughesy says, with him turning us down last year would his be a heart be in a move to Rovers, im not so sure.

mark hughes wouldnt have spent all his last summer running around after mido if he didnt see no quality in him. he must have impressed MH enough that made hughes make a bid for his services. but whatever happened, happened, if we had signed mido last season, we probably wouldnt have gone for benni, and im pretty sure mido wouldnt have got no where near the 24 goals that benni scored last season :rover:

I think he would play for us now - but thats only a second best, because he couldnt break into the tottenham team.

Obviously he would come for the money - but we dont want Money motivated players!

What about a quiet bid for Freddy Adu? Apparently his agent is going to talk to Celtic about the chance to take him there!!

yeah me to was thinking about Adu, when i was reading an article about him on skysports.looks like hes not wanted by any of the big teams. celtic jsut want to sign everyone. im sure he would relish the opportunity to play in the premiership. and hes been the star player in u20 world cup and he would attacking options to our midfield. maybe we could take him on loan for a season. i know this isnt going to happen would be good signing though. :brfc:

And besides with the way of our transfers in the past couple of seasons (espicially with strikers) if Mido came here cheap, had a decent season and got sold on for a nice fat profit would anyone be moaning then?

I think there's so much more of an impetus on economics in football these days, sure it's annoying that Liverpool hawked Bellamy on for more than they paid us for him in the first place but we still made a profit on him right?

Not sure that Mark Hughes gets the credit he deserves for being good with the money, sure he picks up good players for less cash but he also seems to manage to balance the books, something that Blackburn seem to be quite good at is keeping their heads above water financially - it's clearly a well-run operation - something that any potential investor will be impressed with no doubt?

Having bought Rigters I think that's the only category of striker we'd be looking for. Unless Roberts or McCarthy leave.

Hell yeah. I've just sorted train tickets for the Preston friendly and roll on Vilnius!

Speaking of Adu - does anyone think he would make it in the Prem? If we did make a move - I wonder if the Ryan Nelsen factor would help us. Didn't they play together?

For a season or something - also I guess Brad could be a helping factor.. being a fellow American and all. Worth the gamble as I'm sure we could buy him 3-5 times with the money Wigan spent on Koumas.

true, but that wasn't what i wrote though. i said sit back til the end of august (bearing in mind we're 3 players stronger) and see. in january we should (hopefully) have more money to make our moves then.

the new windows inflate prices in the summer and you normally find better bargains in january once players are more willing to move.

don't panic. hughes has his hit-list. and as long as no-one else leaves then we're pretty strong.
