vintageadidas Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Thomas Gravesen is the only one i could think of too. I tell you who i like at the minute - James Harper from Reading! He runs all day, has skill, breaks from midfield, tracks back and also scores goals.

EwoodGlory Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 I hope its Geovanni, he's got the creative spark we need, whether they would sell to a rival is another matter. EDIT: Scrub that, looks like he's off to Deportivo
brian_gallagher85 Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Sadly not. Newcastle are in a total state of shock. They don't know what to do. So, I would say it is a sorry mess and anything is possible. No change there then....brilliant I wonder if I should get this on Toonastic (whatever) asap....anyone who's already registered feel free to do so
Bing Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Patrik Berger? Good shout. Patrik Berger's a very talented footballer. I wouldn't be against a move for him at all. Nigel Quashie on the other hand is an abysmal player.
nicko Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Got a game to go to...and a bet to watch coming in.
Lurid Coat Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Nigel Quashie on the other hand is an abysmal player. Absolutely. I'm seriously going to cry if he sign him. God, I hope we stay well clear of any West Ham players this window - can't stand that club for various reasons.
Bing Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Surely if we're that desperate then a much more preferable option would be use Ooijer as a makeshift right back (or look to bring one in) and use Emerton when fit in the middle of midfield or on the right and move Bentley inside.
Torgeir Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Dean Windass then, he fits the bill. He'll score a couple, all from within the center circle.
tcj_jones Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 This guy has not played much for his club this season, so they want to check on his fitness and sharpness. Much as a I love these guessing interludes, let's just leave it at that. By the way, I believe Koumas thinks he is coming... So we could have two new midfielders arriving before the window closes? At least it looks as though Hughes is addressing our central midfield problem, even if the names mentioned hardly excite. Providing this journeyman proves his fitness and stamina Nicko, how likely do you think this transfer is to go ahead. Thanks as always.
USABlue Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Thomas Gravesen is the only one i could think of too. That would not be all bad would it, or has he undergone a steep decline? Perhaps I have not seen enough of him but Koumas does not seem too bad to me when I have seen him play. The thing I pick up from him is he seems to have a rather high opinion of himself
tcj_jones Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Gravesen's a similar player to Savage. I think he would be an ideal signing in the circumstances.
ABBEY Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 To my suprise Hughes isn't actually mentioned in the Sunday rags... Most Red Tops dreaming up either Shearer or Keegan, with one or two others suggesting they may now look abroad. Personally, if Hughes would leave if asked, it is clear his enthusiasm for his job is not what it was, as I believe 12 months ago he would have turned it down. If this is the case it may be best if he is asked, as like I have previously said, in 2 years or so there wont be a Big Sam out of employment. Like it or not, he's the best we could ever get. cant helping think how he was allegedly wanting the city job before sven got it,if hes asked he will go and i dont think hed think twice about it....love to be wrong
brfcshabba Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Gravesen's a similar player to Savage. I think he would be an ideal signing in the circumstances. Gravesen would have to cancel his loan at Everton to come to Rovers as his is still a Celtic player
Wolves_Rover Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 I was aslo thinking Gravesen could be the mystery trialist but is he considered a journeyman? edit - just seen cookie monsters post, probably not Gravesen then. Maybe it's Duff
they_think_its_all_rover Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Dean Windass then, he fits the bill. He'll score a couple, all from within the center circle. heheh... He's a dieing breed of old-fashioned English centre forwards. you read his book? Very interesting read. About how he dealed with being turned down at Hull at the age of 18, became a builder then gave it one last shot at 21 and made it. (very "When Saturday comes"-esque). Also about how he dealed with drink problems, his step-dad that he didn't get on with & how he moved to Aberdeen to save his hometown club from extinction.
USABlue Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 cant helping think how he was allegedly wanting the city job before sven got it,if hes asked he will go and i dont think hed think twice about it....love to be wrong Allegedly being the key word.
Lurid Coat Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 I've now looked through the squads of every single Premier League club on Wiki, and the only players I found that more or less fit the bill were Patrik Berger (although one can argue if he's actually a "journeyman) Gavin McCann (can't stand the guy) Alexey Smertin (he hasn't played terribly much since Danny Murphy joined, has he?) Dietmar Hamann (probably not, as he's played more than a handful of games for City this season) George Boateng (I wouldn't classify him as a journeyman, but Nicko has mentioned him before) Sean Davis (doubtful) Wayne Routledge (just 23, but has quite a lot of experience nonetheless. Has also been with 4 clubs in just three years, although two of those were loan spells) Kevin Kilbane (a regular in the Wigan starting XI, I'm pretty sure it isn't him) Michael Brown (see Kevin Kilbane) Nigel Quashie (experienced? Check. A journeyman? He's the definition of "journeyman" - check. Hasn't played much for his club this season? Check - he hasn't played for Wet Spam at all this season) Oh God. The prospect of Nigel Quashie in a Rovers shirt is horrifying.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 A few names to fit the bill; Partick Berger Damian Johnson Ivan Campo Andy Van Der Mayde Alexei Smertin Julio Arca Sean Davis Wayne Routledge Luis Boa Morte Nigel Quashie Michael Brown All not played much for their clubs... journey men though?

Lurid Coat Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Haha, true Not a terribly impressive list of players we've put together, though. Most of those are nothing more than just average players.
Nelsta Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 I think in the right team Van Der Mayde could be good.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 I think in the right team Van Der Mayde could be good. Bit of a hot head though isn't he?
B.R.F.C Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 I think in the right team Van Der Mayde could be good. Shandy Van Der Meyde? Hope not I reckon it could be Dietmar Hamann
