The only thing that the Betfair markets tell you is that there has been NO decision.

The more I think about it the more likely it is that the Newcastle fans will make their choice known tomorrow night and Ashley, who made his money by appealing to customers, will go with that.

I believe the fans want Shearer - not Keegan despite the local paper poll.

If that is the cry then Ashley may have to swallow it and go for him.

Democratic but anarchic.

It would appear Houllier wants the job......Nicko?

I've looked at a few polls - some say Shearer, most say Mourinho, some say Jol, sone say Hiddink - but all the polls have one thing in common....

Hughes is usually near the bottom. The fans don't want him - and if they make this known to Ashley - we're safe.

We usually laugh at Newcastle for their over-inflated self opinion - however, on this occasion - it might work in our favour!

I'm sure he does - and he also wants the Republic of Ireland job.

Old Gezza would be better suited to an international post - if you forget the fact his France team failed to aualify when he was in charge after losing out to Israel at home!

Can someone please remind me how dull his Liverpool sides were?

Or do we also forget that he had a massive heart operation about five or six years ago.

Nice man, funnily enough, but not for the Toon surely. Although he does semmingly know the chairman Chris Mort.

I believe the fans want Shearer - not Keegan despite the local paper poll.

The majority of the ones i've talked to are the other way round, which follows the Chronicle poll.

I honestly think the Shearer thing is being over-hyped by the media.

I work in an office with 2 season ticket holders, about 10-15 of my friends are season ticket holders and my grandad has been one for 40+ years!

None of them have Shearer as their 1st choice.

They are split between Keegan, Hiddink and Hughes.

Though, all of them will probably be chanting Shearer name tomorrow when it starts, I think once a few start they all join in.

Some of them are beginning to get fed up with his influence on the club.

In an ideal world Shearer would wait a few years, but with a billionaire being in charge and funds available the idea is being rushed.

SSN have just had conversations with Shearer as he arrived back from his holiday. He replied to all questions posed in a very non-commital manner, just like Keegan and Hughes have.

If Mike Ashley is hoping to avoid the wrath of the fans by waiting for people to rule themselves out before making a choice, then this current stalemate could go on for a while.

What a shower this lot are. Absolute shambles. I can't believe our manager would rather work in that environment.

I'm sure there's not much interest and I'm not particularly bothered but if I don't ask someone else will. How many was it? How many times did Barry impress you on your penis?

I was thinking along similar lines Bob. Except the way I was thinking was as I know Barry did a number of useful things for us, so in that case how many pieces of this sometimes usefull equipment has he got? It is to be hoped they don't all want to wee wee at different times!.

Houllier nearly favourite on Betfair now !!!!!!!

That would be a dream - Inspector Clueless !!

He is now favourite on Betfair - but still not huge money going on him.

Now Hughes is slight favourite - it all seems just speculation at the moment.

Is Sidwell actually any good though? He has hardly looked convincing in his rare appearances for Chelsea and he won't come cheap.

He certainly looked good enough when he was playing for Reading to attract Chelsea. perhaps he only plays well when he gets in the team on a regular basis?

I am sorry but what can Hughes do until NUFC actually offer him something.

He can’t very well say “I am definitely staying whether Newcastle offer me or not” cos if they offer him and he goes then he is a liar, and he can hardly say “I will leave if Newcastle offer me” cos they might not offer him and then he will have egg on his face.

All he can do is get on with things for now...

If he is GENUINELY not interested in leaving Rovers, then he can certainly say that in non-ambiguous terms. It's not difficult. No need to mention any other club by name at all.

I have a slightly smug look on my face after this lot...

JUST BEEN ON SKY.

When asked about a dream team with Keegan, Shearer said: "I haven't spoken to Kevin for a long time."

Regarding any interest in becoming the Magpies' next manager, the former England captain only reiterated his wish to 'one day' be in charge of his boyhood club.

He said: "Am I wanting it? One day, hopefully."

Strange how they happen to know where these people are and get an interview.

The Betfair market is going wild. Shearer has now overtaken keegan. Hughes will be 3rd favorite soon. :rover:

Everytime someone is interviewed the market backs them.

It is all a bit staged, although in this case it was known that Shearer was coming back from Barbados today.

Apparently he told people over there that he wasn't interested... ;)

Just a thought; how about 2or 3 thousand Rovers fans gate crashing the meeting posing as Newcastle fans and making sure that Ashley gets the message: WE DONT WANT HUGHES!!!!!!!! it would be well worth the cost of having to buy a Newcastle top on the way in! :)

Especially as you got a mention on Sky Sports News paper review this morning regarding it.

"A very well connected man in football" I think it was.

Well I know why the Guardian Online are pushing Hughes so much, head of GU sport a Mr Sean Ingle put some money on Hughes when he was 29/1.

A say this slightly tounge in cheek as Im sure they're slightly more professional than that.

eh Nicko?

How about not being so bloody desperate.

If Hughes wants to leave, do we really want to be cast as the desperate girlfriend begging him to stay? It's the Lucas Neill situation all over again - person doesn't want to be here, so we bend over backwards (in his case with the captaincy) in an attempt to persuade him to stay. Has nobody got any pride???

From the look on Shearers face I would say there is a lot more going on than ANYONE knows in respect of his position as potential manager. As for him not talking to KK for a long time, that is also utter rubbish. KK and AS BOTH played golf together at SHAW HILL at a charity event in September to raise money for a cricketer.

The more I see it the less I think HUGHES is a major target, allegedly Mort has been talking to high profile people yet we still have a total denial of contact at BRFC.

Who do we believe ?
