CircoWill Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Financially we need a massive turn around by the Walker trust in order to compete. Unfortunately there is no duty for them to do so. If they don't want to (I would say that is absolutely guaranteed. They actually withdrew the year on year 3 million funding this season) there is little we can do about it short of actually turning up at the stadium and paying the money to support the club which is, of course, massively inadequate compared to around half the teams in the Premier League. Can't see the Walker family investing anything while they are still trying to sell the club.

Earlydoors Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 They actually withdrew the year on year 3 million funding this season) Why did the Walker trust withdraw the Year on Year funding ? Does anyone have any info on this ?
Hughesy Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 How did the Trust withdraw their year on year funding from us?? Wasnt that part of jacks will? Has anyone actually seen the guidelines in the trust?? As for Owen, No thanks! He is vastly over-rated and injury prone.
modes98 Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Other stories are that Shearer is now physically back on Tyneside and that Houllier is talking to Mort (please let that be true). There is a very realistic statement by Chris Mort on the mags official web site. Weird. I opened up that Newcastle statement and there in the top banner is Alan Shearer looking down over it. It maybe a sign, i couldn't get him to appear again though, only got Given, Duff and Owen. Someone must know something about Houllier. His odds have crashed today, much like Redknapp did. Some potentially rich people on betfair. £1 at 269/1 and quite a bit on him over the 200/1 mark. As for Owen, No thanks! He is vastly over-rated and injury prone. Owen is now in the final year and a half of his contract, his value will be decreasing by each month that passes. I doubt he'll get any where near his current wages elsewhere and will have to consider clubs similar to us, hopefully in europe. His record other than at Newcastle is superb and his international record is very good, better than a certain Mr Rooney. We could do alot worse but i guess the wages would rule us out, if us as a club doesn't.
TugaysMarlboro Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 SSN are reporting that 'informal discussions' have taken place between NUFC and Houllier. Can you give us any info on that Nicko? I realise its only SSN reporting it. But if it's true then whoop de friggin do! Houlliers Informal Discussions

I realise its only SSN reporting it. But if it's true then whoop de friggin do! Houlliers Informal Discussions I think the comments from Mort all hint towards Houllier. ie. Doesn't have to be British - but English speaking, good at developing young talent etc.
TugaysMarlboro Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 I think the comments from Mort all hint towards Houllier. ie. Doesn't have to be British - but English speaking, good at developing young talent etc. As long as they hint to anyone but Hughes i'm a very happy man.
USABlue Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 I can think of several who could keep the club in the top half on a limited budget...and maybe even win something. I'm intruiged, name 'em
waggy Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 well i reckon hughes has been ruled out off the newcastle job. if he was newcastle 2nd choice surely they would have made contact yesterday? he is obviously behind shearer/houllier who's had talks with ashley's contacts/king kev. if he takes this job now,he will be on a hiding to nothing aka sourpuss
USABlue Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 if he was newcastle 2nd choice surely they would have made contact yesterday? Surely not with the owner out of the country?
LeftWinger Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Surely not with the owner out of the country? I can't see how that would stop them making an approach. I'm sure he's got a phone
Flopsy Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 We'll probably end up with Fat Sam if Hughes went. Ho hum :'(
nicko Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 I'm intruiged, name 'em I would have moved heaven and earth for Steve Coppell.
nicko Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 nicko..anything in matthew etherington to blackburn?? someone on the other forum mentioned it was in the standard... I CAN'T SEE THAT ONE...UNLESS MGP WAS GOING. so looks like jason komous is a target for sure-wigan just want an replacement... CORRECT. cheshire blue mentioned something in the other thread about benni mcarthy could be leaving soon, and with michael owen keen on coming back to north west he could come blackburn??? THIS WOULD BE THE SAME CHAP WHO SAID SHEARER DID NOT WANT THE NEWCASTLE JOB.
Mozzer Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 if we got komous and say sidwell on loan id be happy.. but koumas and amdy faye-it would be a disaster for us..
waggy Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Surely not with the owner out of the country? he was out the country when redknapp was approached
LeftWinger Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 if we got komous and say sidwell on loan id be happy.. but koumas and amdy faye-it would be a disaster for us.. It's Koumas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Flopsy Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Do you have any proof? Having your fingers stuck on shift and 1 wont make it happen
LeftWinger Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Do you have any proof? Having your fingers stuck on shift and 1 wont make it happen I was referring to the spelling KOMOUS.
Eddie Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 This is a very uninspiring transfer window for us.
Mozzer Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 left winger..it starts with k and ends with s..obviously people know which one im talking about.. i do know how to spell it now tho lol..koumas...
vintageadidas Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 I know for a fact that £3m has stopped from the trust. I know loads of information about the financial situation at Rovers as a very nice document landed in my lap from a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend - you get my drift.
USRoverME Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Hey Nicko, quick but open ended question... Being an american, I keep tabs on the USA players looking to come across. Still trying to figure out the MLS' ideas abotu who they let go, and why, and for how much. If you have any info in general or on the following, I'd appreciate it, if not, I understand. I see the rumours that Fulham are looking at Eddie Johnson from KC, is that a real interest, have they talked fees? For as inept as our attack force is at the NT level, I'd be amused to see Dempsey and Johnson take on prem defenses week in week out, if they would indeed be the starting pair, which I doubt. Preston apparently had a 2 or 2.5 mil (in USD) bid for Twellman denied. That is shocking to me. Are Preston still interested? I wouldn't be if I were them, even though I see Twellman as someone in the Bellamy-Dicov mold, who could eb good for a fair number of English sides... but that price seems amazingly high for his age.
1864roverite Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 regarding the Sidwell situation. Chelsea have NOT agreed to loan him out to Sunderland and have NOT said that he can leave on the last day of the transfer window. Chelsea have had approaches for him from 3 Premiership clubs, 2 who have offered loans and 1 who have offered a decent fee based on his supposed value. Rovers are NOT one of the clubs seeking to loan him. He is for sale at the right price.
EwoodGlory Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 This is a very uninspiring transfer window for us. Hopefully their will be a mad rush at the end, and hopefully we will have our business sorted by then, and we can watch on.
