philipl Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Abel Braga, manager of World Club Cup and Libertadores holders Internacional has just thrown his hat into the Geordie circus ring. Well we are through the dangerous first working day after Ashley's return and all those stories about him either personally visiting 'Arry or immediately moving for Sparky have not been borne out- at least in public! I think we can take the Mort job spec at face value and accept that a professional considered evaluation and sifting of all the candidates is now happening until a way is found of smuggling Shearer into position in one title or another by any old means that suits the political agendas of the leading players. At most normal clubs, it hardly matters that a selected Manager might not have been first automatic choice but Newcastle with its heavenly choir of Jack Charlton, Bobby Robson, Kevin Keegan and Alan Shearer all ready with a quote when a microphone goes under their noses not forgetting beyond the grave cameos from Souness, Dalglish, Hall, Fat Freddie and no doubt BFS in time; being first choice is much much more important as the barbs are more pointed, more numerous and more wounding. As we get closer to the end of the transfer window, the premium for getting a non-employed Manager rather than facing the minimum of two days' delay negotiating releases for an employed manager is literally growing by the minute. From Sparky's standpoint he has now been over-looked three times: - when Redknapp was the initial chosen one - when as obvious first reserve, he wasn't approached when Redknapp said no and - when Mike Ashley came back and took control today. This repeated subbing must be getting to be intolerable for a candidate of Mark Hughes' stature. I doubt the job is big enough, safe enough or rewarding enough for Sparky to put up with this process.
laughatthedingles Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 well for me the list is based on that criteria is: Jose Bilic - is he a TOP manager yet? Scolari - struggles with the english and has a nation to approach Jol - A top manager? Lippi - is he unnattached? Trappatoni - english? Deschamps - Top manager? It's clear the only real top manager here is John Bond!
Nelsta Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Mort and Ashley Set to hold talks in the next few minutes if they havnt already with Deschamps.
revolutionrock! Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Aslong as its not Hughes. Comon Nicko, tell us
T4E Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 This repeated subbing must be getting to be intolerable for a candidate of Mark Hughes' stature. I doubt the job is big enough, safe enough or rewarding enough for Sparky to put up with this process. He'll still go if asked. And you know it. Hence the over the top protestations to the contrary.
jrabrfc Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Deschamps has just gone from 16/1 to 4/1 in the past 5 minutes on Betfair
T4E Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Deschamps is still available at 20/1 on Ladbrokes. I've just had £20 on it incase you're right....
Scotty Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Deschamps was mentioned by Guilleme Balage (sp?) yesterday on the Times football podcast. I stuck £3 on him at 120-1 on Betfair as a result. Please be Deschamps.
revolutionrock! Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Deschamps is still available at 20/1 on Ladbrokes. I've just had £20 on it incase you're right.... If your being serious , more fool you. How many managers have been touted for the job? And you stick £20 on,
Nelsta Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Well the Newcastle numptys are talking to Deschamps as we speak so be quick in putting money on.
laughatthedingles Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Deschamps is still available at 20/1 on Ladbrokes. I've just had £20 on it incase you're right.... Can't see it on ladbrokes at all?
modes98 Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 French boss fella has said Houllier has told him he won't be leaving. Very strange. Somebody has been told the manager is likely to be from france, only way of explaining the sudden shift in both managers.
T4E Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 If your being serious , more fool you. How many managers have been touted for the job? And you stick £20 on, If I couldn't afford to lose it I wouldn't have staked it. Sometimes you have to take the risk to get the best odds. Can't see it on ladbrokes at all? Pick "Football Specials" from the drop down list and its the first option.
brian_gallagher85 Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Anyone reckon they where getting advice from Houlier on their next manager?
T4E Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Deschamps now 5/1 on Ladbrokes. Thanks for the heads-up Nelsta.
1864roverite Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Hughes constantly drfting to longer odds now at 5-1 !!!
T4E Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 8's still available on Betfair.... Favourite on there now...
brian_gallagher85 Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Strange how SSN aren't covering this betting shift at all, yet where all over the Hughes/Keegan and Shearer changes, especially on Betfair
brian_gallagher85 Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 http://www.francefootball.fr/FF/breves2008..._181148Dev.html Newcastle are after a foregin manager - most likely French - to give the team some European flair In hope that this is the end!! 8)
T4E Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Deschamps now 3/1 on Ladbrokes. I may be reading too much in to this, but Mr Nixon has yet to issue a denial.
