brian_gallagher85 Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 A great deal of guesswork going on...and that's just in the Newcastle boardroom. I did hear that Ashley likes the backroom staff, so he could be looking to bring in someone to work with them. Tonight is huge, if the Toon votes Shearer then it becomes very awkward for all concerned. Newcastle should offer him the job, make it public and see what he says. It's the only way to put this to bed. Personally that makes me believe that Hughes is dead in the water If my arse

Ricky Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 It was in The Sun this morning. Although I could swear someone said he had absolutely no interest in the job... Can you possibly stop the sniping at Chesh. You've also posted stuff on here that's not been 100% accurate,or was considered right at the time but hasnt come off. Chesh did the same thing. He's not one of the members who would just make something up for the sake of it. He's posted something that he felt to be accurate at the time. Knock the sniping on the head now please.

brian_gallagher85 Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 We must get a different version over here.

Does the same apply to the monthly 'Dan Williams bought the club yet?' sniders...?

In fairness to Alan - Chesh did criticise his (Nicko's) sources. ..and if Shearer had come out and said he didn't want the job - I'm sure Chesh would have given Nicko stick!
philipl Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 What Chesh did say there was no way Shearer was going to shift his backside out of his Barbados lounger and come back early. In terms of overcoming Mort/Ashley's reluctance to give him the job, you have to credit Shearer with playing this one cannily. Staying on the beach gave the ownership a clear week to appoint their own man after firing Allardyce and Kemsley completely fluffed it for them. Houllier came and went as well. Shearer occupies most of the high ground on this one now.
nicko Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 the sun is getting better Nicko you know i think its the best paper for sports at this moment The Sun pay a fortune to Alan Shearer to admit he wants the Newcastle job. The story that Shearer wants the Newcastle job was on the back page of the Daily Mirror the day before. It's always nice to have something confirmed.
T4E Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Any idea what has prompted Keegan to be placed clear favourite with most bookies?

The story that Shearer wants the Newcastle job was on the back page of the Daily Mirror the day before. It's always nice to have something confirmed. Don't get me wrong Nicko i think the mirror is a very good read somtimes, but i personally think the Sun is a better newspaper for sport
EwoodGlory Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 the sun is getting better Nicko you know i think its the best paper for sports at this moment We all know that the Mirror and Sunday People normally get everything right, and tend to write about facts and not a lot of unfounded rubbish like The Sun do. Lampard to Barcelona for £30m Ronaldo to Real Madrid £45m At least once a month when they're hard up of story's The Sun didn't pick up on the Toon story at the start until they saw the edition of the Mirror and changed the first edition, Sky Sports New paper preview proved that.
nicko Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Any idea what has prompted Keegan to be placed clear favourite with most bookies? I think people are selling rather than buying just now. If he was getting it the price would be odds-on. If this Newcastle game goes to plan there will be a Geordie nation outpouring tonight and daft money going on Shearer.
nicko Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 What Chesh did say there was no way Shearer was going to shift his backside out of his Barbados lounger and come back early. THAT WOULD BE BECAUSE HE WAS ON HOLIDAY AND HAD BEEN TOLD HE DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH EXPERIENCE FOR THE JOB... In terms of overcoming Mort/Ashley's reluctance to give him the job, you have to credit Shearer with playing this one cannily. EH? Staying on the beach gave the ownership a clear week to appoint their own man after firing Allardyce and Kemsley completely fluffed it for them. Houllier came and went as well. I DON'T THINK HE'S GONE... Shearer occupies most of the high ground on this one now. PARDON ME WHILE I CHOKE. SHEARER PUTS HIMSELF IN THE FRAME ON THE DAY OF A GAME. THAT'S NOT MORAL, THAT'S JUST A BIT SNEAKY.
Flopsy Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I presume that Hughes has quitely said "No thanks". I have the feeling that unless we have an excellent end to the season we'll be losing him this summer. bah Still all good things and what not. Nicko as a journo and therefore someone who wont get raked over the coals if he gets it wrong - who's your gut feeling for the Toon job?
nicko Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Camacho - http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_3052895,00.html Yes, he will be standing behind the goal tonight with his Toon top off and showing the world his big belly.

LeftWinger Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Just who on earth are your sources? Shearer does not want it.

I think sky have been poor with their reporting on the Newcastle job. Camacho in shock Toon link : http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_3052895,00.html How many people have sky linked to the newcastle job now ? I'm surprised they haven’t mentioned the special one yet. I hope they have sorted this by the weekend.
Nelsta Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Some sections of Newcastle fans still think its hughes there gonna get. TOONTASTIC

gazsimm Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Is there any truth in this story? or is it just a made up one Jason Roberts is a target for Bolton as they look for a replacement for Nicolas Anelka. (Daily Mirror)
philipl Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Shearer occupies most of the high ground on this one now. PARDON ME WHILE I CHOKE. SHEARER PUTS HIMSELF IN THE FRAME ON THE DAY OF A GAME. THAT'S NOT MORAL, THAT'S JUST A BIT SNEAKY. Sorry you mis-read me. I was not saying this from a moral position but from a battle-field perspective. Of course its sneaky but Shearer was very well-advised to stay put in Barbados and let events happen back in Newcastle. Simply coming back wasn't going to change the minds of Mort and Ashley but force of circumstances which he is now beginning to help along could change their position. Certainly, if Scotland are struggling to hold a conventional round of interviews with Managers in position in CCC and SPL jobs to achieve a selection by normal corporate-style procedures, Newcastle/Mort's preference to do the same with managers in EPL and CL jobs is doomed to failure. Would Sparky go to a Newcastle job interview where he was one of five candidates? He took a similar risk when Wales coach in interviewing for the Rovers job but I doubt he'd settle for an interview when he had had reasonable expectations of being approached as the annointed one like 'arry was.
USABlue Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 It's all getting a bit tedious now. The Newcastle thing. I really don't think they know who they want. It's like they want this thing all over the papers and airwaves to see who pops their head up and they will pick from them.
