bluebruce Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I'll give him 18 months You might, but I think they're more likely to give him 6!

brian_gallagher85 Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Nah...not for a day or two...but I'll let Lee know on the official boards, as he laid Hughes at 14/1
yoda Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Here's a little thought... Kevin Keegan hasn't got any coaching badges. Does someone want to tell the Toon - and Betfair for that matter? They are a big club, they can do anything they like
brian_gallagher85 Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Whats the latest with Grant on that front Nicko, just wondering about it myself over christmas, just ain't heard anything since he was appointed?
USRoverME Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I thought the prem didn't require those for a few more years anyways....
blue/white Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Nicko... are you serious? No coaching badge? Ex England gaffer sans badge? He's had plenty of downtime in the past decade to finalize that 'small detail', no?
philipl Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Here's a little thought... Kevin Keegan hasn't got any coaching badges. Does someone want to tell the Toon - and Betfair for that matter? He will probably be given an FA Diploma double quick in recognition of his experience. 2010 is when the UEFA Pro License becomes mandatory in England at which point Ferguson, Redknapp, Curbishley and Keegan will be debarred from being managers if they haven't done their 240 hours by then. The current licensing regime The key to this appointment will be Keegan's Chief Coach. If he gets an astute tactician who is current with all the latest analytical tools, Newcastle could be a force again. In terms of cavalier football, they already have players to quicken the pulse- Duff, N'Zogbia, Owen, Viduka and Martins- so we could see the Keegan style return very quickly which would be fantastic for the watchability of the Premiership. If Keegan sticks with Sam's backroom, I don't know what we will get but if he picks Shearer, chances are we will have a farce. The "love it" outburst was roughly at the same time of the year as Tim Flowers' "bottle" speech the year before. We know which one worked but then we didn't have to face five minutes of Graham Fenton on fire at the wrong moment! When Fenton got his first, I was gutted as I so much didn't want the Mancs to win the title- when he got the second I went berserk with joy. I was sitting at the Darwen end of the Jack Walker upper and had a grandstand view of the tearful geordies. Talk about lacrymose hysteria!
thecomebackid Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Credit where it's due. Mind you there was a mention of this in the Mirror on Tuesday morning... Wonder where it leaves Shearer? He will be spewing. Keegan is the only boss who won't worry about him in the background. At least Rovers can get on with their lives now. Not as much as Hughesy! It's bitter sweet. As much as I'm glad to see MH staying, I kind of like Keegan's 'heart on his sleeve' character...hating Newcastle just won't be quite the same again (for a few months at least).
bluebruce Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I thought the prem didn't require those for a few more years anyways.... If that's true I'm a bit confused by the furore we've seen over appointments in the past...
USRoverME Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 The furor is selective. No furor over Redknapp and Fergie... but furor over Grant.... Take that as you will...
nicko Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Nicko... are you serious? No coaching badge? Ex England gaffer sans badge? He's had plenty of downtime in the past decade to finalize that 'small detail', no? Yes, checked with his last employer - at Man City right now - and he hasn't. He had special dispensation three years ago, but I believe the rules have been tightened since. I don't think he did any exams while he was 'between engagements.'
disgruntled Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Here's a little thought... Kevin Keegan hasn't got any coaching badges. Does someone want to tell the Toon - and Betfair for that matter? Ahh but you aren't going to get any Premier League club complaining in case they come a hunting for their manager. Have Betfair actually paid out yet?
nicko Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Ahh but you aren't going to get any Premier League club complaining in case they come a hunting for their manager. Have Betfair actually paid out yet? It doesn't need a complaint...it's a Premier League ruling, under orders from UEFA. Southgate and Roeder had to sweat, Grant called a couple of old mates in Israel. Funny though.
revolutionrock! Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Was gonna say Grant got away with it.
AndyR Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Not sure about Betfair but my Paddypower is looking healthier, I had £20 at 9/2.
revolutionrock! Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Not sure about Betfair but my Paddypower is looking healthier, I had £20 at 9/2. Very Nice. Looky Runts who backed him at 100's :!:
USRoverME Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 hrm... tried to check and verify... apparently "current managers" had until 2010 to get the license, but new managers should have them... then again, if wikipedia is to be believed, Keegan got a diploma from the FA due to his experience...
EwoodGlory Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Any news on who his staff will be? I see Coleman has left Sociedad and KK signed him at Fulham. Just a guess like.
brfcshabba Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 talkSport has just brought the badges point up - They didn't know Old Article That article says he has a diploma
USRoverME Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I'm guessing this will be a non-issue in a few hours, unless the pro-shearer crowd has a larger voice than teh pro-keegan crowd.
nicko Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 As I understand it Keegan had 'special dispensation' in his previous spell at Man City, but the rules are tighter. I believe he will be allowed to work, but he will also have to do his badges to carry on into 2010. Love it, love it. By the way, interesting that talksport should pick it up so soon after it first appeared here. Call me Mr Paranoid, but...
nicko Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Interesting views on the Shearer-Keegan dream ticket chances. I think he knows something. Either that or he reads this thread... http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...3053795,00.html
modes98 Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 If Keegan sticks with Sam's backroom (staff) What's the word on that Nicko? I read on a couple of the tabloids that Sam's staff had departed with him and that was part of the x million they had to pay to get rid of him. Also Amdy Faye isn't in the gers 16 tonight against Gretna.
Dunnfc Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Whos opening up the sweepstake on how long hell last then?
