nicko Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I think Motherwell will take a percentage of that Possible. I thought Everton had signed him at a time when Motherwell were skint and possibly took him outright and clean. Willing to be corrected.

nicko Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 This is a serious question...and may be on the wrong thread. But how would it work if someone wanted to be a partner for the trustees rather than trying to buy them out - at an arguably inflated price? What are the logistics? I know there are some who would know the answer and how to work it. I would appreciate a sensible answer or two. This is a pretty important issue, so no sniping please.
benlloninho Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 If Juve were serious they would have done it by now. Mellberg wants to play centre half and not right back like he is at Villa. He is a free agent next summer and won't get a longer deal than Bolton are offering...to be fair. Whoa, nicko, take it easy on the objectivity and knowing a lot more about what's going on than me. Just kidding, I'm an avid reader of this thread.

I know there are some who would know the answer and how to work it. I would appreciate a sensible answer or two. This is a pretty important issue, so no sniping please. I've always thought that would be the most likely scenario Alan. They (the board and trustees) have been "inviting" investment forever it seems, and someone coming in as a limited partner gives us the best of all worlds: 1 - We gain the investment we need to chase CL places while Rovers continue on with the sweetest insurance policy perhaps in all the sports world; The Jack Walker Trust as majority shareholder. 2 - The trustees don't have to deal with that pesky problem of meeting the Trust's mechanism for turning over control of the club. Coming from a family that has had trusts in it (AND NO I'm neither rich nor a beneficiary of one of them myself) I think I might have a little better understanding than some here with regards to how they work and why they're set up in the first place. Jack Walker put the club into his trust to protect its Long Term Future. While a set of requirements may exist for the trust to give up majority financial responsibility, meeting them is likely to be the equivalent of jumping over the Channel. Cue the Python references........... 3 - The new investor can come in and be the hero, hold up the trophies and be a public face of the club without having to take on the ultimate financial responsibility for things or have to pay the full cost that is usually required to attain such a position in society. The trust would remain in their comfortable position in the background, making sure that everything else was being done from a sound fiscal standpoint. Now..............finding someone like that. Only someone with loads of cash and a serious long time affinity for the club or the desire to be a sports big-shot would be willing to go down that road. Anybody with any ideas?
alexanders Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Nicko, Do you know how things are looking for our rapid Bulgarian friend ? Has he been more impressive this week?
Plastic Head Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Shearer on Keegan was hilarious. I have never seen Big Al look so uncomfortable before. Not spoken to KK in months...co contact about the so-called dream ticket...but he would talk to him...and he wants to be manager one day. It's a hot potato for KK. Wonder what he will do. And wonder if they will say what the fall-out was about. Alan knows he's a quitter too....
nicko Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Nicko Are you glad I invited you to start your own thread on here ? Bet you never thought you would have had well over half a million views and people are still reading avidly !? Definitely...but I can't vouch for mrs nicko.
nicko Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Anything in Chris Eagles to Burnely on Loan? Not that I've heard. Burnley have a very interesting winger in the pipeline. If it comes off it will make a big difference.
nicko Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Now..............finding someone like that. Only someone with loads of cash and a serious long time affinity for the club or the desire to be a sports big-shot would be willing to go down that road. Anybody with any ideas? Do you know how that can happen logistically? I mean, are the Trustees open to that idea? If so, it could be on...on a reasonable scale if not massive.
EwoodGlory Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Can you make sure Mrs Nicko isn't planning on taking you away from here on January 31st, as your input on August 31st was good viewing, I sense a busy last day of the window.

nicko Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 If there is anyone with a Trustee contact who wants to get that discussion going feel free to contact in confidence. This isn't a spoof.

nicko Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 nicko..the rovers messiah..........finding us investment from his multitude of contacts Hardly, it's a fishing expedition. But if you don't ask, you don't find out. It seems daft that you have people who don't really want the bother of the club any more - the Trustees - and a potential buyer who has funds and wants to get involved but would be at full stretch to buy it, pay off debts and then have some money for players. There has to be a way where you can get the best of both worlds, especially if the money is coming from someone with a Rovers connection. However it needs an expert opinion in this field on how - or if - that arrangement could work...and I'm not that.
nicko Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 wes hoolahan ?? Good player, but it's not him. I can't say his name, it's too delicate - it's foreign anyway. I;ve got an investment to consider, a chunk at 20 to 1 to get your friendly local rivals promotion.

Got a gut feeling you might be flush come the end of the season though.
