1. The Charlton Link above isnt exactly full of good opinions of the guy who plays in theCOCA COLA CHAMPIONSHIP. They see him on a consistent basis, that is when he bloody plays.

We all know confidence can effect us and when Charlton were in the prem they were doomed and lost like every week so perhaps the guy was low on confidence and was seeking assurences and confidence from 3 different managers.

2. He plays for Senegal :!: Hardly world beaters, lets remember that Aaron Mokoena is the CAPTIAN of South Africa, a far better team. And i have read he has 18 caps.

ok good point but to play for your country youve got to be at least adequate.

3. 1 m we could put towards What Transfer Kitty we had and Savage Cash, to buy someone better.

But who is better than Faye and in our price range, lets be honest pal prices are still very high in the tranny market and you only need to see McFadden for proof.

5. Hughes and his team never let us down- Mokoena? Nonda? Pongolle? They were hardly Unpolished Gems were they?

Mokoena is a great squad player, helped keep us up in a good solid 5 man midfield.

Nonda had a great goalscoring ratio last year, are you forgetting this? 9 in 28 games?

Pongolle the guy was in the top 5 strikers in last years la liga and is only 21 given time hed have been a good little player.

I really dont see the logic in buying this guy, where a club aiming for European football and where buying someone who cant get in a 1st Division side , and also a side in the Scottish Prem League. I know this is probs a loan deal, but there are limits to how many loans you can have, and i think there will be better options out there I.E the big clubs Reserves (Fletcher,Denilson).

We need new players, and hes cheap may just be a squad player, we may not even get him. When Auxerre and Newcastle were playing in Europe Faye was part of there teams. He cant get in the charlton side because hes on loan at rangers because his wages were to much for aa side i nthe championship.

Fletcher will be wanted at UTD wheather its for cup games or whatever, Denilson will not be loaned out as he plays or arsenal in the cup and hes a backup to the 1st team. Nicko said that they would not be loaning him out either.

Also, Faye was arrested by City of London Police on November 28, 2007 along with Harry Redknapp, Milan Mandaric, Peter Storrie and Willie McKay over allegations of corruption

Wasent he cleared in the end? Was it his fault that his manager could have been involved in something illegal?

Watching MOTD, James Harper looks like a really good player. Been Consistent all season.

HOw much you think for him Nicko, i think 3m+

Harper is a good player, bit like Savage in a way. Why does he roll his socks down to show his shinnies?

Wouldnt mind that Bobby Convey either.

Well have to agree to disagree, but in my opinion this a backwards move.

The trouble is we haven`t a good forward move due to severe lack of funds. ;)

As the saying goes `if you pay peanuts you get monkeys`.

(or if you are Woy you pay rather large over-inflated peanuts for monkeys! :P )

I don't think that signing Faye on loan is such a bad thing.

At present we only have two fit central midfield players. If there is a series of injuries to any of them we are knackered.

Also what happens if we don't sign Koumas or AN Other? Then we are seriously lacking for any senior cover for places.

I see it as an insurance policy. Faye plays a ball winning midfield role which means that he can play in a team with any of our current midfielders.

Five months wages to avoid the risk of being short of midfielders. I have no problem with this at all.

If he is no good then nothing ventured etc. He may fit in well, It's worth the trial.

The Mirror says if Downing goes to Spurs Boro will sign MGP for £8m to replace him.. PLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also says Spurs want Santa Cruz to replace Berbatov.

Both logical replacements really. We're the one's holding all the cards however. If we do eventually sell, & it's a big 'if', then in the case of RSC, we should ensure that Spurs pay at least the amount they might receive for Berbatov.

This is very interesting. I remember saying last week that Keegan and Shearer had not been speaking. The argument is explained here:

http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...3063437,00.html

Ego's a'fragile up there in the royal soap opera of St James Park  . Quick online perusal of your esteemed periodical revealed only the Colin Hendry story, but no 'Rovers Revelations'. As a carrier pigeon might take some time to wend its way this wrong side of the Mediterranean Alan, some enlightenment would be greatly appreciated. Ta.

Fair enough.

Thanks to the outstanding source for the help on this before I start...

There is a young Norwegian winger coming in this week, Anders Karlsen, who plays for Bodo Glimt. He has been before and done enough to be asked back - probably to sign. I suspect he will be for the squad at first.

And there is a lovely tale about a kid called Alex Marrow who won a 'keepie uppie' competition in the Trafford Centre and has just played for the Rovers academy side.

There's also a story about Spurs wnating Roque to replace Berbatov. Not having that one at the moment, thank you.

Ta Al. Your absence was keenly missed Alan, at least once someone realised you hadn't replied for a few days  . I'll keep a look out for the new arrivals/prospects.

As for the Berbatov/RSC link; as the two similarly gifted current hottest Premier League properties, it might be a case of one of your journos (I'm feeling generous today) putting 2 + 2 (in theory) = 4?

I mentioned before that Roque is genuinely happy. He is playing regularly for the first time in ages and likes the club and the area.

The only way that changes is if there is some sort of slump.

Interesting that he should be rated at £10 million already...

If Boro are giving us 8m for Pedersen I'd take young Adam Johnson off them to replace him and spend the rest on central midfield

If Boro were going to pay £8 m that would have been quickly changed after yesterday. I'm afraid he really is struggling, hamstring problem or not.

If big Al had any sense at all, he would stay well clear. Let Keegan get on with it. When it all turns sour, better for Al if he isn't part of it. He'll still be there, still be the Geordies favourite and would step in as his own man.

Why risk his reputation under Keegans' management? The only benefit Shearer could possibly get out of working under Keegans' guidance is experience. Why does he need experience though? Loads of players have gone straight into management. Kendall at Ewood and didn't Keegan go straight into management at Newcastle?

Shearer would be better gaining experience as his own man, with the right man as his number two, - not under the guidance of Keegan.

Nicko.

You were at the game yesterday.A typical recent performance - poor but (apart from Coventry) the result was better than the performance.

I've read your report in the People. What did you really think of Rovers yesterday? Do you agree that the team we have should be performing better that that, or do you think that is as good as we are.

This guy is supposed to be the dog's 'locks. Made his debut for Bodø/Glimt at only 16, two years ago, and also played in their promotion-winning season last year. He's turning 18 in February, which probably means that he won't see a lot of first team football this season or the next one - but if he impresses enough, maybe he'll get his chance.

I know next to nothing about this Adam Johnson fellow, but I think 8m for Pedersen is too good to turn down. He's been more or less atrocious for us this season, and I'm sure we could find a decent replacement for him, if Hughes doesn't think Peter or Treacy are good enough for first team football. 8m is a lot of money for a player who's been off form for ages.
