Are you mad sell MGP

Look he's still a crowd favourite and just because he is not scoring goals doesn't mean he is a bad player. He still puts the occasional killer pass through and he is our best corner taker.

Don`t take this the wrong way but you couldn`t have seen much of `crowd favourite` Gamst in the last season and a half.If you did you would know he is far from the standard that we know he can play at.

Compare him to Emerton who when he came on as a sub against `boro, ran his socks off and worked damned hard.

Emerton may have half the ability but he has twice the work ethic, which is why most fans appreciate emo`s efforts and not Gamst`s.

The sooner Gamst starts to do the basics of a left sided midfielder such as dribbling down the line, crossing the ball (accurately!),linking up play etc,the sooner he will work his way back into fans favour.

If Gamst doesn`t buck up for the 2nd half of the season i think Hughes will run out of patience and sell him.

Putting down Gamst for his work-rate and linkup play really doesn't add up to what I've seen of him. His dribbling is bad, his crosses on-and-off, but his effort isn't.

The link above is a match report from our resident journo, the bit at the bottom sums it up and is exactly what people are saying.

His overall game this season has been awful and in most games he has `gone missing` for large periods, hence why he was dropped in the early part of the season.

The fact that our squad is so threadbare is the only reason why he hasn`t been dropped altogether.

At last some sense is spoken.

Whatever anyone thinks of MGP - I don't think anyone can doubt his workrate. However - take away his goals and his set piece delivery (which seems to be poor in comparisons to previous seasons) he is just a hard working left sided midfield player.

Though not MGP's fault - we lack genuine pace down both wings - the sort of outlet that Duff used to give us. There is no way that you can drop Bentley - so it would seem reasonable to cash in on MGP IF we can use the money to buy a pacy left winger to replace him - but this may prove to be more difficult than many people think or Tottenham wouldn't be willing to spend so much money on Downing or even Boro so much money to buy MGP.

However - I would like to see MH experiment with Olsson and Warnock as left back and left midfield for at least one game. Both players have pace to burn - it would be interesting to see whether they could provide the attacking threat down the wings.

Treacy, Peter or Olsson cannot really do worse than Gamst at the moment. That trio have pace, so even if they can't cross for toffee, can't pass, can't shoot - at least they will stretch the opposition.

Alternatively, push Warnock LM (where he had a brilliant season with Coventry) and get someone to play LB (although, I'd prefer Berner to be left out of things).

Remember when Hughes came in and gave Gamst the cold shoulder? He was used in the cup-tie against Bournemouth and scored and then for the next THREE months Hughes kept him off the pitch. The reason was that Gamst was not physically up to handling the Premiership. Well, I ask, is he physically/mentally up to the task now - it would seem not.

Isn't Olsson injured? God knows where Peter is, he's more anonymous than Gamst. Treacy for mine doesn't cut the mustard - he didn't look quick at all against Coventry, though I'd still give him a chance if the alternative is wheeling Gamst out there every week.

No ta on Warnock at LM, he doesn't have the required skill.

The disappearance of Pedersen is part of the reason why we've been so poor for so long - we don't have the pace to stretch teams, and the league has realised that if you keep Bentley quiet you shut down our attack. We're a very unbalanced side at the moment, and Hughes needs to rectify that, or start playing 4-3-1-2 and forget about getting the ball wide.

Nicko

Apparently Aston Villa had a couple of reps at yesterdays game...MoN and apparently Randy Lerner included.

Any idea or news on who they might have been watching? The fact Lerner was present suggests it was more than pre-match scouting

i cannot give a link, but pedersen does the most running in our team, up and down the pitch! but his performances havent been good enough!

For the money he is on I'd run around a lot too, wouldn't make me playable, but I'd sure run.

I think one of the reasons he isn't scoring as many goals is because when corners are taken (when he is not taking them) he is not in the box and the ball always gets cleared I seem to remember him scoring a couple of headers last season.

I admit though he does need to work on his dribbling which is sometimes abysmal.

If he were to get 1 or 2 goals in a match i'm sure he would find his feet again.

Its the same with Samba and Nelsen their confidence levels seem to be low so they are conceeding more.

Im no expert but i can see there is something wrong with his pace - he's just not as fat as he used to be last season.

If he were to find his feet at boro again he'd be worth 16milllion

Best Corner Taker is Bentley.

16m  No way Hose.

"FC Blackburn have many good players. It will be tough, but I am not scared. I'll claim my place among their strikers. Everything in the team is perfect. All you think of is football. We had a practice with the assistant manager.

Mark Hughes was just watching on us from outside. I was quite surprised by the physical fitness of their players. They are working out in the gym all day.

And I'll work out like them if the management of Levski let me join Blackburn" he said.

Jan,

I take anything you say about MGP with a pinch of salt.

A slightly smaller pinch of salt than Rover6 mind. On another thread s/he decries the poor quality of the youth set up, and then here argues for including them in the first team! Let's push Warnock into midfield and play Berner left back, no you don't rate Berner, so that leaves who exactly?

The stupidity I refer to is the non-stop have a pop at various players attitude. It's boring.

I love Pedersen to bits but im afraid the points below are true.

1. We are only keeping him because hes a match winner with his left boot, when on fire.

2. We got noone else to replace him so he keeps playing.

3. Warnock does not know the term left back and thinks hes a left winger so Pedersen feels the need to drop back everytime Warnock bombs forward, when in actual facct he should stay right up there with Warnock so they can give each other support.

4. He tackles someone then magically falls over, because he needs weight traning and fast.

5. HIS NAME IS PEDERSEN NOT GAMST!

6. He has a good game but dosent get a mention but then has a stinker and gets hurls load of abuse, even in the ground we have these stupid people who think its ok to chant stuff at him and boo him, when this behaviour is totally unacceptable.

7. Hes become complacent due to a lack of competition.

8. He looks ill and weak and tries to hard.

Olsson is out for a couple of months and is a left back.

Peter is out injured but should return to training shortly.

Treacy cannot be judged on the game against Coventry. He started well and played within a team that showed little ambition and ability to attack. IMO he was stopped from performing better by the rest of the team. After 3 or 4 games maybe you could say he isn't good enough but i just think there is a lot more to come from him.

No no no. Three years of bad performances Joey.

His goals always masked this. He's not good enough.

My point wasn't that. He hasn't been good enough and we should look to sell I agree.

What I was getting at is that supporters are just as selfish as players- we only care if they are good enough. Otherwise we look to sell them quick as they can. Doesn't matter if they have shown effort and loyalty and respect for the club. We don't care. They are traded pieces of meat to us.

But then people are agast and bleet when players who are playing well want to leave for bigger clubs and more wages. What goes around comes around, thats all I am saying. Keep it in mind when RSC looks to move on.
