This could well be another Sparky gem. I've got a feeling about this one similar to the one a lot of us had when we got the unproven Samba.

Why does Huges look for a new striker ? Isnt Derbyshire, Jason, Mcarthy, Santa Cruz enoguh ?

And on loan ?! Thought club only go for loan in case of emergency?

But, Hughes know what he does.. its a reason for it..

Well there are probably two possible reaons:

1) Roberts is leaving

2) They think he is a good enough prospect that he will eventually significantly improve the side, this seems a bit unlikely seeing as we won't buy him.

Or perhaps:

3) We've decided Rigters is completely useless?

Or

4) They were expecting him to be able to do 100m in 9.98secs, and now need longer to assess if he has anything else to his game.

Well we know this bulgarian is quick and can score goals but the premiership is a higher level than what he been used too. i think the loan deal is an opportunity to prove himself.

If he's grabbi flop, no big loss. The only thing is, it could back fire on us because if he proves a big success, we could lose out to another club in the summer unless we got some kind of contract clause in place.

Chelsea were also mentioned as club interested.

But that can't be true. We were told by various board members over the summer that it was a genius transfer.

He has really good stats from the European Tournaments as well. He has played 19 games and scored 11 goals (7 matches and 4 goals for Champions League and 12 matches and 7 goals for UEFA Cup). (wikipedia)

So, I won't say he is unproven to be a quality striker, but I find it hard to believe that we are the only one chasing him.

From that article

"Johnny is a good young player who we believe can go all the way," said Ballymena manager Tommy Wright. "We will do all we can to help any young player make it across the water."

A message that should serve to attract promising Irish kids to Ballymena.

Just as our busines plan should be to attract top players to Ewood with the promise that we will help any promising talent to make it to a european mega club.

Regardless of the amount offered for our talent? It goes without saying that we'll sell if the price is right, just like we did with Duff. Agents will always try and sell our better players anyway, no need for us to publicly state it too.

Rovers and Ballymena are hardly a threat to each other.

Whereas Rovers are certainly in the top 40 clubs in the world by turnover, play the Big 4 at least twice every season taking points off them, knock them out of Cup competitions from time to time and are regularly in the UEFA Cup where quite a few of the European elite appear (Bolton got a draw at Bayern earlier this season).

Such a statement in the Rovers business plan would be meaningless as we are competing in the same pond as European mega clubs.

Dream on. We are nowhere near the Champions League. We are an increasingly small fish in the Premiership puddle. With the news from America that we are a bad investment and that no one is queing up to chuck money at us how do you think we can raise the funds necessary to make up for increasingly poor (in comparison) income?

btw I take it that you are not a big Ballymena supporter Gunner?

Yes, I will be tuning in to watch Ballymena play Villa, Everton and Arsenal in their next three games.

An unlikely nine points from those fixtures and Ballymena will be sitting in a Champions League position. Amazing isn't it?
