Jan van Baal claims to be Santa Cruz's agent. I think he wants his name out there because there are so many others trying to do the deal.

I believe it was his official partner who has been speaking to Blackburn.

So there is something going on, but will take a lot of doing.

His father is also very influential and there are agents trying to represent interested clubs and also sell him for Bayern at the biggest price.

In other words, just another modern-day football transfer.

The problem with Mido seems to be a suspect temprament.
and he will want to move on after 3 months as well

and that's the issue for most of the clubs in for him. They have to make him hungry to play and even spurs, the club he so badly wanted to join last summer couldn't make him do that.

Nicko: Just out of interest any word on how much Harewood went to villa for?

Harewood's price is a total of £4 million, which is made up of installments. I think the guaranteed cash is around £3.25 million.

Villa did not outbid Wigan, they just matched their bid. The only subtle difference is that the installments are based on a club staying in the Premiership - and Villa have a better chance of that than Wigan.

Even with Harewood.

nicko, is there any news or rumours on us buying anybody else other then a striker??

i hope we dont sign santa cruz by the way, 50k a week for maximum 4 goals a season, no thanks..

out of all the strikers we have been linked to i think beattie is the best option, and hopefully we could get the price 4million knocked down..

Cheers. £4m is ok for him but he won't get anywhere near Villa's first team. I was just having a good old laugh at my villa mate who has his head in his hands! :D

All of the main interest is on the striker department. One for sure, two possibly.

Still trying to find out more about the French kids from PSG. But that would be strictly for the squad from what I hear.

Don't see the point in signing people for the sake of it. Let the rest of the Premier do that. It won't improve them.

derbyshire isnt too far behind quality wise, goals wise possibly better

Yeah but he doesn't/didn't play for london giants, West Ham United!

£4m isn't a massive fee these days but it is a hell of alot on what can only be described as a good championship striker. Squad player and i just don't see the point in O'Neill signing him.

do you mean we could be after two more strikers???

if so that means either roberts or mcarthy must be leaving..

I don't think Jeffers is in the picture at all now. Rigters is taking his place in the pecking order.

I meant there could be two coming in if one of the BIG two - McCarthy or Roberts - left.

Just had it confirmed that Middlesbrough do have an interest in Beattie, but he is not first choice.

Everton will try to start an auction here shortly.

It's a bit tedious, but that happens a lot of the time.

Pro Evo time

FC Nantes have ONE Senagalese player, is 28, an attacking middfielder/forward and is called Saidou

OR... if you have their flags mixed up, FC Nantes have a striker from Mali (very similar flags) and is 24, called Mamadou Diallo

Middlebrough are definitely in the hunt for Beattie.

Confirmed by very reliable scources at the weekend, hence his omission from the squad that travelled to Northern Ireland.

Jeffers brother has told me today that he is no rush to move although he DOES expect to move before deadline day.

Jeffers got a far better deal than Rovers fans will ever know when he signed for us last season so therefore he is in no rush to move. The clubs muted so far, Cardiff, Ipswich and WBA have all offered him a decent deal with Rovers having agreed a price with them all but the package on offer is almost identical. There appears to be some movement if Rovers can agree to the latest round of haggling about the payment of 750k. If Rovers agree then Jeffers is off as he is keen to move on being out of the plans of the first team squad.
