nicko Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Just a thought... If Everton put £500,000 on at 14 to 1 they could pay for him. I should stress that is a joke.
Mozzer Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 so does this mean james beattie is on his way out of goodison and likely to come to blackburn?? smith 8million aswell, thats ridiculous..
Cocker Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 smith 8million aswell, thats ridiculous.. I doubt very much that Eveton will pay 8m for him. You cant have Moyes moaning one week that he cant afford to buy players like the other clubs are doing and then the next week he throws 8m at a player.
Hughesy Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 I will be gutted if Everton sign smith and we sign Beattie! That is poor business!
ABBEY Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Just a thought... If Everton put £500,000 on at 14 to 1 they could pay for him. I should stress that is a joke. stranger things have happened
Mike Graham Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 sounds like my ex wife I think I must know her!!
pleasure Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 I will be gutted if Everton sign smith and we sign Beattie! That is poor business! for everton. 8M for smith! is dead money.
modes98 Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 I will be gutted if Everton sign smith and we sign Beattie! That is poor business! Smith: £8m Beattie: £2.5m - 4m Yes it is bad business, but not by us. Smith's record is god awful, whereas Beattie has alot to offer in the right team setup and Everton is totally the wrong team for his style of play. If you remember we got rid of Kuqi for £2.5m and could get Beattie in for similar, then that is a fantastic deal, but we also got Benni for £2.5m. Anyway in todays ridiculas market i don't think we'd be doing that badly to get Beattie in and let Hughes work his magic to let him hit form again.
ABBEY Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 I think I must know her!! you might do she lives in hogton and drives the latest broomstick
pleasure Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 nicko, i've an update on the santa cruz situation. apparantly, it's been reported in the turkish press, (so my turkish pal tells me) that galatasaray are going to offer £11M euros for him. they are also offering mega money to try to entice michel salgardo.
Cocker Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 they are also offering mega money to try to entice michel salgardo. It wouldnt be surprising if Salgardo did leave now they have Milito
pleasure Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 how much is 11million euros off top of my head, about £7.5M (the 11M could include his wages).
Mark Atkins' Bald Patch Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 how much is 11million euros Just over £7m or thereabout. More than we would offer anyway... can't say I'm dissapointed if this does turn out to be the case though.

modes98 Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 interesting. sparky said "hes looking for an experience striker There is an edit button Good to see, but nothing that we didn't already know really.
pleasure Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 more interesting is the '' some of them have been bought" quote. who could he mean bellers and..... ?
all you need is duff Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 more interesting is the '' some of them have been bought" quote. who could he mean bellers and..... ? Yes he does mean Bellers because he says that some of the strikers we have been linked with have been bought as opposed to, "Some of the strikers on my shortlist have been bought."
pleasure Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Yes he does mean Bellers because he says that some of the strikers we have been linked with have been bought as opposed to, "Some of the strikers on my shortlist have been bought." you're too quick to jump on my post, without reading it. i WAS meaning we were linked with bellamy, cant rember being linked with too many more, that's all. jesus!
nicko Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 I find the Galatasaray 'bid' of £7.5 million for Santa Cruz hard to believe. It would only take £4.5 million - and maybe just a bit more if there was an auction. The Turks can get a bit excited, but not THAT excited. Sadly, as I warned, Roque is going to be a hard one to pin down. But as there are not many top-class, experienced alternatives around then it is worth the effort to stay in the race. I saw the boss's interview, he looked a bit fed up - probably being asked the same questions and through a lack of being able to land the striker he wants. The targets he missed would include Bellamy for sure. Tuncay Sanli was another and on reflection he would have been a good one. But, as mentioned before, his wages are stupid. The sooner the games start the better. Because talking about targets and not signing them would drive anybody round the bend.
daren Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 You need big brutes ( bit harsh on Matty and Benni) but to make the extra step, you also need a bit of magic. We've looked to the wings and Tugay to provide it in the past. I suspect defending against Rossi would be pretty difficult, not knowing where he's going to go or what he's going to do. I certainly wouldn't like to have to. Also, adding in some of Sparky's striking experience could not but help the lad. The sooner the games start the better. Because talking about targets and not signing them would drive anybody round the bend. Yup! Hence the complete insanity on the board during the summer. We need our fix!
Saf Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 i can see where sparkys coming form and he right when he says we need an expereince striker, someone whose played in the uefa cup or even champions league before. someone who will add extra bit of quality and experience to the team of playing in big matches such as uefa cup
