Nicko, i hear sheff wednesday have approached rovers with a view to signing paul gallagher. if they cant secure a perminant deal, they'd settle for a loan. we are mulling over an offer, apparantly.

Were they not meant to be trying to make a big loan deal for Patrick Kluivert.

I know Newcastle tried him a few seasons ago, but if we ship off Jeffers would it be feasible to make a move for him. A quality striker in his hay-day and still at 31 who have plenty to offer if we could land him on a Jeffer's type salary.

I'm fairly sure Uncle Jack tried to make an audacious move to try and sign Kluivert when he was the big new thing c 94 time.

It's rumoured Kluivert made some extremely unflattering comments about Blackburn (the place as opposed to the football club) along the lines of "If you think I'm going to live in a ******* dump like that you're one off."

He might be a lot less particular now for the right sort of salary, but has seemingly been on the decline for a long while. Stay well clear I'd say.

I won't keep you hanging on any longer. In this case the lad in question is probably not going to be a huge national story and if any watching rivals want to nick the tale then let them...

Rovers have brought in an exciting young Danish lad with an Algerian background called Adda Djeziri.

Great name, especially if he has a brother called Al!

By all accounts the kid is talented, a left winger with plenty of skill. He came to Blackburn despite different offers. The only worry is that he was loaned from his club BK Frem to Rangers last season and they did not sign hih. However he helped them win the Scottish Youth Cup.

I know the scouting staff are very interested and now the management will see how he copes with training. He is in with the first team, so he must have something.

The price is not foolish either, maybe about £200,000 plus extras.

PS. Excellent efforts to track down the name elsewhere, quality digging.

He was great once (I have the England 4 - Holland 1 game on DVD and still marvel at how he changed the game) but has been bobbins for ages. IMO he would struggle to make our reserves.

Sorry nicko, have we actually signed him, or is he here just on trial?

It's a brief trial but with a deal in place if it goes well.

I would imagine he would stay for a week or two, possibly playing a game, before the decision is taken.

I have not heard any thing else about the other players who were supposed to be over last week. But Djeziri is definitely in the building.

If it happens then Sergio Peter's options are starting to look a bit limited - assuming of course it's not long term strategic planning on the basis MGP will be leaving at some point.

Not heard of any midfield interest of late, but I agree that it will have to be addressed at some stage.

Tugay and Sav are in their 30s, young Reidy needs to get his fitness back and David Bentley is ok when he goes inside but ideal out wide. Obviously Dunny has to get back to near his best to be a regular starter.

nicko, is there no talk on us going for a central midfielder??

i dont see why we need another left winger, with peter and treacy cover for pedersen..

Totally agree, heard Peter wants first team regular football which he isnt going to get a great deal of here unless MGP gets injured, maybe this will go someway to appease Peter.

For me what Rovers need at this moment in time is a top.. top quality man in the middle of the park for the future continuation and success of the club and not some donkey like James Beattie up front. Fingers crossed!

Beattie up front negates the need for a top quality man in the middle of the park.

We just lump it over midfield from the back to Beatts.

Man this is frustrating. Hughes is the Man and who am I to question his moves and the like, but we have been needing a creative midfielder for awhile now and our only addition has been Dunny. Maybe Hughes sees Dunny as making great progress or Reid making a complete recovery, but I'd sure like it if at least we were sniffing around some options, just so it could show that Hughesy is indeed concerned about the situation...

I dunno, but I think the issue of finding another striker is second to the midfield situation...

I read a couple of weeks ago we were intrested in signing former arsenal forward Quincy Owusu Abeyie. Another Arsenal reject but look how Bentley turned out and he was an Arsenal reject.

Where did you read this?

If we're looking for pace, that's the man to get. As for technical skills, when I saw him a few years ago he looked more like Kuqi than Berkamp. But the lad is young so who knows what progress he's capable of.
