b12_simon Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself, but if all the matches in the 2nd QF and Rd1 go to seedings, then we could see a group such as this : Bayern Munich Locomotiv Moscow Rovers Galatasaray Atheltico Madrid You've reminded me of last season's draw - drooling over the group with Espanyol and a Prague side and hoping they were our 2 away trips BTW I reckon most of the teams above would be top seeds, so in different groups.

philipl Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself, but if all the matches in the 2nd QF and Rd1 go to seedings, then we could see a group such as this : Bayern Munich Locomotiv Moscow Rovers Galatasaray Atheltico Madrid The rules for the Group stage are: Once the first round has been completed, the 40 remaining clubs are drawn into 8 groups of 5 teams in accordance with the seeding principles, based on the UEFA list of club coefficients. The 40 teams will be allocated to five pots. Pot 1 will comprise the top eight clubs in the club coefficient rankings, Pot 2 the following eight clubs in the rankings, and so on for pots 3, 4 and 5. Clubs from the same association will not be drawn into the same group. So your scenario is impossible. No way could Athletico be in the final pot as their Liga Coefficient will put them in pot 3. Ditto Galatasay's European experience will put them in pot 3 or higher. If Rovers get to the Group stage, chances are they will be in pot 2.

Nope, I've taken one of the top 8, one of the 2nd 8, Rovers as 16-24, one from 24-32 and one from the bottom 8. See here if you don't believe me- Seedings, and yes Gala and Atheltico are surprising low in the co-efficients
philipl Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 You are assuming every seedwill win every tie and that is not going to happen- Athletico were in real danger of not even surviving their tie against Romanian opposition in the Intertoto for instance qualifying on an away goal. Assuming Rovers get through the final qualifier and the first round proper, I will be quite surprised if they do not end up in pot 2- it only needs three out of the 19 clubs above them to get caught out and there are some real nasties in the unseeded teams in the southern area.
American Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 He did say "if all matches go to seedings." Just upset you were proven wrong?
grizfoot Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Some good goal yesterday - have a look closely at Dunny for the third goal (Benni's) its very funny! I thought he'd got injured again for a minute and then I saw the replay.
LeChuck Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 I know my hearing is not getting any better and the girl tripped over the name of the Macedonian skipper of Vetra when he get sent off but did Carsten Pederson set up Roberts' goal and have we signed Rodney Santa Cruz? No, she said "Roque Santa Cruz" and "a cross from Pedersen"
roversmum Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Well, that's it then. I can never think of Roque as anything other than Rodney now!
Finch Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Anyone know what time the qualifying round draw is going to be made?
Hasta Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 If we are seeded in the next round of the UEFA against a non-seeded opposition does that mean it's pre-determined who plays at home first. I could do with knowing if we are at home or away on the 16th August before the draw is made on Friday.
stuwilky Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Anyone know what time the qualifying round draw is going to be made? 1.30pm CET on Friday (which is 2.30 in Europe I think - they are currently on CEST) If that is true (and I have little or no idea!) its 3.30pm BST But I am not confident any of that is right!

If it is 1.30 pm CET, I believe that will be 12.30 am GMT. But I might be wrong.. In any case, GMT (or BST) is ahead of CET.

Lee Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Champions League draw is first with the UEFA one to follow, 12.30pm UK Time. No doubt it'll be LIVE ON EUROSPORT!! ;-)
Cocker Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 I may have missed something but what is it with you and Eurosport anyway
mac Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 He works for them, PR manager in charge of East Lancs trying to promote the channel at every chance he gets !
SuperStella Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Yes, I was part of a long-standing campaign last season when we were in the Uefa Cup. This involved getting several hundred members of brfcs to ask over and over again if the game was on Eurosport, and what the kick off time was to raise awareness and promote Eurosport as a global brand.
