Maverick Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Have now gone through all the pages and added together all the 53 predictions. 1. Man Utd 2. Chelsea 3. Liverpool 4. Arsenal 5. Tottenham 6. Philly Rover ® Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Oh dear, I've broken my own rule. I was on vacation and wasn't able to post, so I suppose you'll all have to take my word that I'm not letting the Sunderland/Spurs score affect me. 1. Chelsea 2. Manchester United 3. Liverpool 4. Arsenal 5. Tottenham 6. Aston Villa 7. Blackburn 8. Newcastle 9. Everton 10. Portsmouth 11. West Ham 12. Reading 13. Manchester City 14. Birmingham 15. Bolton 16. Fulham 17. Middlesborough 18. Sunderland 19. Wigan Athletic 20. Derby County I do think that Man U has the best first XI (at least on paper), but I don't think they have the strength in depth that Chelsea has. If Rooney or Tevez go down for any appreciable length of time, there's only Saha to step in... and while I'm sure Fergie will buy another striker because of that, I think that Chelsea having a more settled squad this year will help them immensely. And as long as Wenger is in charge, I'm hard-pressed to bump Arsenal from the top four, especially for a constantly underachieving Spurs side. I have a feeling that my table looks like everybody else's, but oh well... we'll see what happens at the end of the season!
Philly Rover ® Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Oh I see. Have a dig from your Safe Philadelphian Home (wasn't that The Clash?). How's about a 3 year culmulative table? Whilst you're doing nowt like? This is a good idea, Bob, and as soon as I get the time I'll put it together. Then we'll see who the real man is. Oh, and Maverick: I apologize for posting late for the purposes of your table there. Interesting stuff... I'll be intrigued to find out how that table does. I've also gone ahead and added nicko's, which he posted on his thread: OK, from the top to the bottom Man U - Liverpool - Chelsea - Arsenal - Tottenham - Blackburn - Everton - Portsmouth - Aston Villa - Newcastle - West Ham - Man City - Wigan - Bolton - Fulham - Reading - Sunderland - Middlesbrough - Derby - Birmingham. Wolves for the Championship. Oldham for League One [i hope]. Bradford City for League Two [likewise]. SPL is a no go zone. Scottish One - St.Johnstone. Scottish Two - Ross County. Scottish Three - East Fife.

Philly Rover ® Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 How's about a 3 year culmulative table? Whilst you're doing nowt like? Ahhh, a dictum from the almighty BRFCS monthly summarizer... although I don't recall having voted bob fleming to such a position. I always say that supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony. True, I had enough time to do this, but I have to draw the line somewhere. Hopefully it makes for some interesting reading. As far as this year goes, it already looks my City pick (13th) is going to be way off. Still, it's a long season I suppose, and at least I don't have Man U down for the title. And by the way, bob, I only need to beat you by five points this year to take the lead in our splendid little war.
neekoy Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Does make good reading Would be interesting to see it by nationality, Eng, Scot, Ire, Aus, US and the rest
bob fleming Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 And by the way, bob, I only need to beat you by five points this year to take the lead in our splendid little war. Nice once Philly, thanks for taking the time to do that. Would you care for a small wager on this season? A bit of sport in a U.S. v U.K. stylee? Shall we say ten of your American dollar bills vs five of my United Kingdom pounds?
SouthAussieRover Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Nice once Philly, thanks for taking the time to do that. Would you care for a small wager on this season? A bit of sport in a U.S. v U.K. stylee? Shall we say ten of your American dollar bills vs five of my United Kingdom pounds? And a few Aussie dollars thrown in?
Philly Rover ® Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Nice once Philly, thanks for taking the time to do that. Would you care for a small wager on this season? A bit of sport in a U.S. v U.K. stylee? Shall we say ten of your American dollar bills vs five of my United Kingdom pounds? Let's do it, bob. It's probably good to lock it in at that price now before the the pound is equivalent to seven dollars! Perhaps the best way to pay up will be when I finally get the chance to come to Ewood and see a game. May not be for a few years yet, but on the off chance that I do lose, you can rest assured I'm a man of my word.
kevinyip Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 If it come up with Man. City win the title, then there is no gain and no loss for everyone... I guess I won't have good prediction this year again. It's already 5 point behind between Man. Utd and Chelsea and Wigan done better than normal...
LeChuck Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I thought I'd bump this back to the top now we're near the end of the season. Is Philly Rover still around to collate the results? Nice once Philly, thanks for taking the time to do that. Would you care for a small wager on this season? A bit of sport in a U.S. v U.K. stylee? Shall we say ten of your American dollar bills vs five of my United Kingdom pounds? I'll be interested to see how this turns out... It's interesting to see just how highly we all rated Spurs in the summer, virtually all of us had them in our top six and many had them down to break in to the top four this year. How long ago that seems now, eh? Wigan seem to be the biggest surprise package, a lot of us had them to go down this year . It looked like they would at the beginning of the season too, Steve Bruce has down a wonderful job there to have them sitting comfortably in 13th position.
philipl Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Seeing as we will finish 6th, 7th, 8th or 9th, the 2007/8 season could have been cancelled and the BRFCS MB left to decide the final league table! Votes for Rovers' finishing position were: 7th- 23 6th- 23 8th- 10 5th- 7 9th- 5 and 1st, 4th, 10th and 11th all got 2 votes each!
bob fleming Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Is Philly Rover still around to collate the results? I hope so, I've saved up, just in case. Are you there Philly?
Philly Rover ® Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 I hope so, I've saved up, just in case. Are you there Philly? And like Lazarus, I'm back from the dead... Sorry I've been MIA around here -- the first year of law school was considerably more taxing on my free time than college was! I still have finals for another week and a half or so, but I'll try to chip away at the results when I get fed up with studying for a bit. It'll definitely get done, though apologies if it takes a week or so. Although I will say: if the results never get posted, you can rest assured that I lost to Bob and I'm just being a poor sport about it. Alright now, back to Rovers v. Big Club. Let's give Sav his wish and send 'em down.
Florida Rover Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 alot of people correctly predicted a 7th place Rovers finish this year.We would take that every year.
krislu Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 1 Manchester United 2 Arsenal 3 Chelsea 4 Liverpool --------------------- 5 Tottenham 6 Everton 7 Newcastle 8 Portsmouth 9 Blackburn 10 Aston Villa 11 West Ham 12 Manchester City 13 Bolton 14 Middlesbrough 15 Fulham 16 Sunderland 17 Reading --------------------- 18 Birmingham 19 Derby 20 Wigan Can't be too upset with that prediction. Looks like I got 3 spot on and 9 missing with just one place. So 60 percent of the teams just missed by one spot at most On the poorer side of things I was way to optimistic about Tottenham and Newcastle, while too harsh on Villa and Wigan. Btw, I reckon you (Philly Rover) just gives the score where 1 place off is = 1 point and so on? If so then my score this season is 40pt.
Plastic Head Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Think there may be an upset or two next season. Maybe one of the top 4 this season to have a shocker (Arsenal?...or maybe Chelsea with new manager, players leaving). A couple of promoted teams to stay up (WBA, Stoke with route 1). Maybe a big name to go down (Man City could do anything, Everton (pleeeeze), West Ham). Out target for next season is 40 points....simple as that.
