Mr. E Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 strong team - only thing is we don't have anyone in defense on the bench. I guess Moko will have to do the job if something happens. C"MON ROVERS

ihtd Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 I can see why he's started with Roberts and Benni upfront but for the first day of the season, i would have loved to have seen what Roque can do, but there are another 37 possible games he could start i suppose. Prediction before i leave for work Boro 2 Rovers 3 Theres always one game on the first day of the season full of goals.
Eddie Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 strong team - only thing is we don't have anyone in defense on the bench. I guess Moko will have to do the job if something happens. C"MON ROVERS Thing is if one of the centre-backs goes down then he can move Ooijer into the middle and play Mokoena at right back.
G Somerset Rover Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 The only worry would be if one of our wide men pick up a knock. But I suppose Dunn and maybe Derbs could do a job on either flank-even if it they're no world beaters in that role.
joey_big_nose Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Very suprised Emerton doesn't even make the bench. Injured? Pleased for Dunn though. I guess Savage will be playing deeper than he usually does.
Roar of the Rover Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Strong line-up, only weak point I see is Oojier, I personally think he's not good enough in that position, rather have Emo but he's back from the Asia Cup, so probably resting him.
Texan Rover Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 I'd like to be optimistic and say 1-2 to Rovers, but I think I'll settle for 1-1. Eddie's right to say that these are the sort of games you need to win to challenge at the top of the table, but after the last couple years, I'll just be happy not to start this season off in a big hole.
grizfoot Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 My team prediction was right apart from Ooijer being prefered to Emerton.
modes98 Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Benni Tucks away a nice move but MGP in an offside position. No goal. Good play by rovers. Boro with the first chance 3 on 2 break from a rovers corner missed by allliadere, savage with some great defending.
robbojohnno Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 We are dominating and have had the ball in the net. Sounds like it could be a day were we dominate and Boro go and nick it late on...
revolutionrock! Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 All us according to Paul Merson come on you blues
revolutionrock! Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Off TOPIC but @#/?s losing Kevin Phillips get in there   AArrggghhh 1.0
modes98 Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 1-0 Downing. Free Kick went through the wall. Dodgy free kick, Samba convinced he got the ball.
roversmum Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Darn. As expected Rovers guilty of ball-watching, Alan Yardley says. Nothing new there, then, something I wasn't too happy about last season and would have hoped it had been noticed and sorted out.
G Somerset Rover Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 "Out of ideas" according to Merson (although he hates us for some reason). Does sound like we've created sod all though.
modes98 Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Half Time A couple of good moves, resulting in appalling final balls. MGP is well off the pace and needs a kick up the arse. Boro unlucky not to be more than a goal up. Typical rovers on the first day of the season really. Lets hope for better and an appearance from Tugs & Santa in the second half!
Korean John Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 'Twas a soft goal. The free-kick was quite low and went right past by Pederson in the wall, though he was standing a foot away from anybody else . Boro have looked a lot more dangerous than Rovers and deserve to be ahead, Hughes does not look happy!
Blueboy Downunder Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 boro deserve their lead. yes johno i agree it was a very soft goal to concede and total indiscipline from the player who formed the wall. we need to inject some quality into the side, and it is probably going to be up front and probably gonna be jason roberts. bents, sav and dunny have hardly been in the game and to state the obvious we need to get all 3 of em more involved. i know it is the first game of the season, but this is were we lack real quality in the middle of the park because sav is a different player and dunny is not what he once was in his previous stint at rovers, i think we all recognise that. tuges or reidy...who knows. we do need to get more quality in the middle and give our strikers better chances, but in saying that...all credit to boro, so far.
West Aussie Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Are you watching it on Fox sports Blueboy ? The Yak fell over the ball it was never a foul by samba, then savage turns his body sideways and the ball sails through the wall! Thought boro deserved the lead, and we need to turn it up a bit or boro will run over us. Anyway back to the tele 5 games to choose from thank you Fox sports.
tonyoz Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Hey west aussie. i am in queensland and have been trying to switch to the rovers game on fox sports but the red button only gives me the fox sports news service. can you help? Thanks
G Somerset Rover Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 I say get Roque on now. They have literally the whole of their defence out and we don't seem to be testing them at all.
Bazzanotsogreat Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 I say get Roque on now. They have literally the whole of their defence out and we don't seem to be testing them at all. We have no pace to stretch them that’s why we aren’t testing them
modes98 Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Benni has a bad head injury, santa coming on for him to make his debut. Concern for benni from the rovers staff.
Sydney Rovers Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Benni stretched off from looked like no much of a hit. Santa has come to town though
