Hughesy Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Id like to see a strong team, but one or 2 of the fringe given a chance. Id like to see a midfield of Pedersen, Tugay, Dunn & Righters Derbyshire & McCarthy upfront

RoyRover Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 My team would be: Friedal Emerton, Zurab, Nelsen, Warnock Bentley, Tugay, Mokoena, Peter Benni, Ritgers I don't want to see Ritgers playing on the right wing, because we all know that it isn't his position. Give him a chance up front, let him score a goal or two and get his confidence going. With a big game against Man City coming up, it's important that we keep players fresh, while at the same time putting out a strong team for this game. This sort of lineup is more than capable of beating MyPa quite easily.
Cocker Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 peter is not in the squad And why is that a good thing?
LeftWinger Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 My only prediction for this is MyPa-47 to kick-off the first half at Evens with Ladbrokes.
roversmum Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 D'oh. Do keep up. Peter has been injured for a few weeks now My team - the one picked by our esteemed Manager, Mr Mark Hughes
USRoverME Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 My team is the team Hughes picks (assumign we win). However, if we lose, my team would be completely different and unlikely to fail to advance against MyPa.
Neil Weaver Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 My team - the one picked by our esteemed Manager, Mr Mark Hughes .......... indeed, which I don't think will include Bents cos he's a booking away from the next round (should we progress ). Come to think of it, so's Benni.
Eddie Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 My team is the team Hughes picks (assumign we win). However, if we lose, my team would be completely different and unlikely to fail to advance against MyPa.
roversmum Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Can't really argue with that...................................
Ben-2000 Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Come on you Blues! Looks as though the 3 players on a yellow will be replaced for this game (Benni, Bentley and I think Savage). Don't worry, at 10.00pm tonight we will be wondering what all the fuss was about (i.e who plays and whether we progress or not!)
philipl Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 This is either a humiliation for t'lads or a reet thumping for t' paper pulpers (and I don't mean Darren).
budha Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 ROVERS: Friedel, Emerton, Ooijer, Nelsen ©, Warnock, Bentley, Tugay, Mokoena, Pedersen, Rigters, Roberts. Subs: Enckelman (GK), Santa Cruz, Khizanishvili, Gallagher, Dunn, Derbyshire, Olsson. MYPA-47: Korhonen, Pulkkinen, Agboh, Kuparinen, Muinonen, Huttunen, Kangaskolkka, Miranda, Leilei, Mustafi. Subs: Luukkonen, Fofana, Marchis, Helenius, Puhakainen, Karhu, Peltonen. From the official site. Samba, Savage and McCarthy are not even on the bench, Rigters gets his debut and Santa Cruz and Dunn getting some rest on the bench. Looks pretty good. 2-0. Edit: seems that MyPa will start with only 10 men. Or their full back Kansikas is missing from the official site's list.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I'm looking forward to seeing Rigters. I haven't seen him play for Rovers yet but in the European Championships earlier this year, he looked a good player for the future. I predict Roberts to score the first in a 3-0 victory.
USRoverME Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I'll take 10 men, makes the job easier.... Especially if they forget to run out a keeper!
tcj_jones Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Really glad to see a few players rested and for Rigters to get a game. I felt that four players should have been rested before Sunday's game with City: Samba, Dunn, Bentley and Santa Cruz, but I suppose Bentley is probably the fittest member of our squad and he can always be subbed off if need be. Really looking forward to getting a glimpse of Rigters EDIT: I wonder if anything will be made of McCarthy not featuring in the 18 man squad?
Cocker Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I'm looking forward to seeing Rigters. I haven't seen him play for Rovers yet but in the European Championships earlier this year, he looked a good player for the future. Snap. However, what we might get is him and Roberts being very greedy tonight to try and prove who is number 4 striker (I class Derbs as 3rd)
G Somerset Rover Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 EDIT: I wonder if anything will be made of McCarthy not featuring in the 18 man squad? Even though there shouldn't really be any reason for speculation seeing as though Hughes has rested players, I fully expect the media to re-start the 'Benni's on his way' campaign for one last day.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Snap. However, what we might get is him and Roberts being very greedy tonight to try and prove who is number 4 striker (I class Derbs as 3rd) As long as they are greedy and get 3 goals each, i'll probably text Hughesy and tell him not to be harsh with them...just a tap on the wrist.
Rover down South Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Fair play to the supporters of MyPa who have travelled over here, as this is where their european dream ends & I predict it to be a whitewash for us. That said, 3-0 & Tugay to score first would be good for me as I have a few quid on at 100/1.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Tugay on the ball is just a magician. He can pick a pass from nowhere and make it seem so easy.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 AHHH should have been 1 nil then. Tugay picked out Emerton with a delightful through ball and Roberts ends up in the back of the net and putting the ball wide from literally 2 yards.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 John Barnes is a better rapper than a commentator.
