RoversFanUSA Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Well heres a crazy story. Well my little sister told tonight that the other night her boyfriend (who lives in Michagin) went out to a bar to have drink or two with his buddys, and who happened to be there? The head coach of the Chicago Fire. He said that the guy seemed to be a down to earth kinda guy. They played pool and chated about sports. Then the topic turned to football and he told him that his girlfriends older brother (me) had gone to England in April and went to watch a bunch of matchs and blah, blah, blah. Well then the coach asked him which team i supported to which he said Blackburn Rovers. He said "Blackburn"? "That teams awful!" Her boyfriend (who dosent know a thing about football) said he asked him what team he supported and the coach replyed "Im a huge ManU fan". What crap! Hes gonna go and say that Blackburn are awful...? I know his team wouldnt stand a chance if they played us! I think i might just go to a Galaxy V Fire and fly the Blakburn colors. Anyone got a flag they can send me?

RoyRover Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 About six years ago, when I was in 4th year of grammar school, me and my school football team went to Chicago to play some other American schools. Well we went to Chicago Fire play D.C United and I can honestly say that it was one of the worst games that I ever saw, dire stuff altogether! There was about 8 or 9 thousand people scattered around the huge Soldier Field and when I saw the nonsense served up I understood why. The only thing that I was looking forward to was seeing Hristo Stoichkov for D.C, but he was injuried. This coach should know all about crap teams then.
thenodrog Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Phew....... For a minute I thought this was a thread about a Major Fire in Chicago!......
Cocker Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 To be fair, quite a few of our TV matches make us look allot worse than we actually are. Take last season and anyone who only catches the odd Prem match could have watched most of the Man U games and said "WOW, now thats how you play exciting football" Then again, sod what he thought about us, Man U are the exception. They should have made him watch a Chelski match to see that a team doesnt have to play well to win the league.
Philly Rover ® Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 You also have to consider that most people stateside are the ultimate bandwagon jumpers. It seems like all of the casual fans pull for Man U, while anyone who decides to get into it a little more is suckered in by Spurs' "potential." Me personally... if all my teams here in the U.S. agonize me to no end, then wouldn't supporting a big club like Man U or Chelsea just be out of place?
blue phil Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Phew....... For a minute I thought this was a thread about a Major Fire in Chicago!...... So did I . I was surprised Flopsy hadn't already moved it.......

Anyone got a flag they can send me? Wow, that's crazy seeing how the coach, Osorio, coached for Manchester City for a few years before going to the Fire!!Talk about yer loyalty! And if he coached at Citeh and then calls US crap, he's one blind Columbiano!

philipl Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Nice to see that Beckham-mania has brought a sense of perspective to LA LA LAND. LA Times has Rovers v Arsenal in their list of global TV spectaculars today.
rebelzero Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 interesting scoop on the Fire manager, especially since he played for Citeh. I really wish the DC/CHI reserve match was in DC as I would totally wear my Rovers shirt to annoy their manager. I still may when the first team comes next month, as I'm in a good shouting distance from the away bench...
brfc fan Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 DC/CHI reserve match "Chi" means Chichester where I am!
Raymond Rover Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 I used to live there brfc fan so I thought that for a second too!
