cn_barlow Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 If City stay in the zone come January, they could actually be in serious trouble this season. The top players they'll supposedly bring in January won't want to come to a team that won't have European football next season, let alone one that looks like it could end up in the Championship. i think if city are down there come january there a big chance they willbe willing to pay for Roque to get them out of trouble. £20m should do it...

Exiled in Toronto Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Loving that result. It would be priceless if we win on Boxing day and Citeh lose, then we stuff them on boxing Day as well. Me too - although a draw would have been slightly better than us, I punched the air when Bendnar, completely unmarked, put it in with the back of his head! They could have had a couple more just before that as well. Scientific methods my arse. City's defence is a bigger shambles than ours - they seemed to be playing with 8 men in the team for the last 15 mins. Maybe Hughes too underestimated the Freidal effect and convinced himself he can organise defenses. Interesting that when they won 6-0 early on he was keen to take the credit, 'Things are coming together, better to come'. I just hope they keep him on for another week.
LeChuck Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Draw. Keeps them both right in it. I'd say a Spurs win is better, there's absolutely no way they'll finish in the bottom 3 at the end of the season, but there's a chance that Newcastle could.

They won't go for Roque if Hughes leaves. Any new manager coming in will just see Roque as a one season wonder. I think he's better than that though.

I think he's better than that though. He has a track record of being injured and has never been regarded as a goal scorer, so this could put some managers off.
scotchrover Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES CITEH LOSE AND WBA WON'T WIN AGAIN.
Pugg Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Arsenal 1-0. After analysing the game and monitoring both teams, I have used my footballing knowledge to come to the conclusion that...Liverpool's strip is awful.
Iceman Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 This is absolutely fantastic, well done you Baggies! City to go down, would be bloody hilarious.
Wolverine Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 All this talk of Hughes facing the sack is ridiculous. He hasn't had enough time and we really need to support young British managers. Give him time, he will turn it around...
scotchrover Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Arse 1-1 Liverpool (fabregas injured) New U 2-1 Spuds- Now full time All this talk of Hughes facing the sack is ridiculous. He hasn't had enough time and we really need to support young British managers. Give him time, he will turn it around... You wouldn't of said that about Ince a bet or I wouldn't of
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 I get the feeling he was being sarcastic. Duff got a last minute winner for Newcastle. This table is so, so tight. If we can get some good runs in we will be fine.
Stuart Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 You wouldn't of said that about Ince a bet I sense he was being ironic
1864roverite Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 If we can get some good runs in we will be fine. I pretty sure that is being said in the English cricket changing room over in India as well
RevidgeBlue Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 How grim would the table have looked had we lost yesterday? It would still have been technically possible to get out of trouble but psychologically it would have been a huge ask. Now because of the manner of victory yesterday, everyone is bouncing.

I think the feeling is that we have the right man for the job. The festive results and January transfer window will certainly be interesting...

LeChuck Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Why do people make that stupid mistake? I'd be disappointed to see a 12 year old do it, it amazes me how adults can constantly get it wrong.
Guest Kamy100 Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Very, Very tight table, we are only 8 points of Fulham who are 8th. However the worry is that teams are taking points of each other and that could mean that to survive teams would need more than 40 points. I have a feeling that Hull will drop into the relegation dog fight, they are well clear at the moment but few consecutive and results like this weel could see them dragged in. This will go down right to the last weekend of the season.
Hughesy Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Great result at the hawthorns. At least gives us a chance to move up a spot if we win our next game. West Brom next 3 of Chelsea, Tottenham and Villa doesnt look good for them. City have a very winnable run of games up to the 21st of Feb. (Us excluded ha) West Ham - Pompey, Stoke, Newcastle

(Us excluded ha) West Ham - Pompey, Stoke, Newcastle imo we could have well done without those two extra time goals. I must say this is shaping up to be the most enthralling Prem season of all time. For all the wrong reasons mind! Instead of the usual pecking order just about every team has something to play for at the moment.
Hughesy Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 After yesterday I would say Stoke will struggle all season. West ham are already struggling and could lose 2 or 3 of their better player in the jan window too.
Billy Castell Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 The Whammers will probably go down as their financial problems bite and the few good players will have to leave. I bet Lacah will be one of the first to jump ship.
roversmum Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Why do people make that stupid mistake? I'd be disappointed to see a 12 year old do it, it amazes me how adults can constantly get it wrong. It's down to poor pronunciation, LeChuck. It derives from should've (should have) becomes should of and would've (would have) becomes would of. I don't count myself as an expert on English having only got as far as O Level GCE from two different boards (a long story) but that is basic and irritating. The only thing that I keep telling myself is that language evolves. At least the results today should fire up the lads, they will want to get one over on Sparky and they hopefully will also look at the table and think "we can benefit from this"

Billy Castell Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 True, I bet he'll hang around though because no-one else will pay him such big wages. And what odds he'll be wanting a new contract?
