Rover4ever Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 In the recet past, Terry has gone away with rugby challenges, 2-footed lunges, playing goalkeeper, trying to pull a red card from a referee's hand. IMO, referees showed him a somewhat strange deference which may be because he is Englands captain, of for whatever reason. Now that he gets a red card, Chelski fans are all up in arms over how the referee consulted the 4th referee before giving the card....

American Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Would you change your mind if Bellamy and Defoe join up front and they recruit Hurst from Pompey and Falfouid from Feyenoord as brilliant young defensive back-ups? Bellamy and Defoe together will probably cost the same as Santa Cruz- Villa will probably sign all four for a total of about £26m. Then I'd definitely be worried about them finishing even 3rd. Having to adjust to 4 new players will take at least a few weeks.
philipl Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 The two youngsters would initially be cover for the existing full back given the squad a depth in those positions it doesn't have whilst Bellamy and Defoe would fit quite easily into Villa's fast breaking forward set-up. That's my take but let's see. There are signs that the Big 4 all have key weaknesses this season and O'Neill is the sort of Manager who could Villa on a great roll and keep it going for more than half a season. He is certainly not phased by the pressure of winning as no doubt Jan can tell us.
T4E Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Apparently Bellamy is in talks about a move to Spurs.
T4E Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 West Ham rejected £6m bid from Spurs, now City have made an 'enquiry' (SSN)
Presty On Tour Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Liverpool considering 3.5m for Pennant from Real Madrid! Considering most of us on here including myself don't rate him or want him at Rovers, there really must be a shortage of decent right wingers for a team like Madrid to be in for him.

Real Madrid collect players! He'd feature even less than he has at Liverpool. Anyway if it means we can't have him its a good thing.
Tom 1 Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 Well the Arsenio Halfuid lad who used to be at Feyenoord is in talks now and set to sign a two year deal in Jan, 17 years old. I don't think we'll be winning any title at all, not even a chance.......but we can ruffle a few feathers with the right buys to put it that way, 4th would be a huge achievement, it's all anyones thinking of.

You do not have a chance of winning the title...just will not happen. You do however have a chance of fourth and that would be a fantastic achievement if it came off. I think betting men would still go for the usual Big Four though...anyone breaking into that, including Villa, would still be a shock.
Tom 1 Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 Well...that's exactly what I said isn't it lol. I'd still go for the usual top 4, Arsenal are still faves, we're doing just fine tho.
Iceman Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 Saw the adebayor red card, and well ive seen worst tackles not even getting a yellow card. You can understand why players, and managers lose their respect for referees. Its rubbish and its an utter disgrace, that top referees are still getting these decisions wrong.

Specially when Arsenal have been shafted too often in the recent past against Liverpool, who from their side, always enjoy a disproportionate amount of luck from referees, even more so than than Man U in the recent past
tony gale's mic Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Lucash conceded yet another penalty against Pompey today, Defoe missed it though.

Lurid Coat Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Oh great, West Ham beating Pompey 3-1 now
brfcshabba Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 3-1 West Ham - you get the feeling Pompey will struggle
Amo Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Pompey are shipping goals like nobody's business. Tough times for Adams, no wonder he was panicking over Ince's dismissal.
yellowsubmarine Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Well done Adams. Maybe you can reunited your former Arsenal defensive teammate to doing some "coaching" for your defence.
PAFELL Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 3-1 West Ham - you get the feeling Pompey will struggle The table will start to sort itself out now. Stoke will come closer to the bottom 3 as will Portsmouth - WBA will stay in the bottom 3. I think Pompey will struggle, but if WHU have to sell to survive then they will start to drop down - Bellamy will leave west Ham. Therefore I think it is possible that west brom, stoke and west ham may may be relegated. Rovers won last week, but if we are really honest it was a good start for big Sam, the performance was not that good though. But Big Sam would have been able to work with the squad this last week - especially the defence. The man city game is a huge game for both sides, which I think Rovers will win.
1864roverite Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 city 4-0 up and robbinhom off for a rest City live to fight another day or rather hughes does
philipl Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Really really enjoyed the Villa 2 Arse 2 game just now.
Backroom DE. Posted December 26, 2008 Backroom Posted December 26, 2008 Villa and Arsenal's match was very good - I can't believe Aston Villa were 1-0 down at HT... the whole game was like a match out of Football Manager. Crazy. Just saw Phil Brown's public humiliation of his players.... in two minds about that one. Sort of deserved, but honestly, is that going to work? May lead to some serious resentment. I can see Hull dropping fast... the bubble seems to have finally burst.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Fair play to Brown. Hull haven't won away in 3 months and they've conceded 9 goals in 2 games. They've had 1 win in 10 premier league games. It was a kick up the arse they needed. After being 4-0 down at half time. They came out and played out a 1-1 in the second half. It obviously worked!

Not necessarily - teams who go 3-0 or 4-0 up at half time usually take their foot off the gas after half time anyway and don't match the first half performance.
