modes98 Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Given to Arsenal and he will be replaced by Kenny, If that happens Newcastle will go down. Given is worth more points to them than Friedel was ever worth to us.

dingles staying down 4ever Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8...4720664,00.html The money being quoted for players in this article is mad. Bellamy £20 mill, Defoe £24 million. Come on get real. If these prices are to be believed then RSC is a bargain if the release clause is in place. If it is not then Rovers should be asking £30 million! Nicko gets a mention as well!
John Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Pompey on Defoe Storrie said: "We have had a tentative enquiry about Jermain and told the club concerned he was not for sale unless it was for a very, very big offer.

Empty rhetoric. Simply leave him there then and see the banks force the sale and the price!
1864roverite Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 insider knowledge from a City Steward says that City do not want to pay £18m or anywhere near that for RSC. They have allegedly offered only £12m payable over 3 years and that was the last bid on the table. City have bid for Defoe believed to be £18m up front and they have bid for Bridge £7m. They are also believed to have bid for a left back and it is NOT Warnock possibly NZogbia from NUFC. They have also been quoted £19m for Bentley which pays off his signing on fee at Spurs !!
philipl Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I hope City take Bentley for £19m - Rovers will get the balance of the full £17m on the nail I believe. remember the poncing posers of City said they'd bid £12m for RSC in the summer and the actual written offer did not amount to £8m last summer.
cn174 Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Come on Villa!!! Was just about to post the same! Drag Hull down here!

Sorry Phillip, it stilll says your inbox is full.
philipl Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Sorry Phillip, it stilll says your inbox is full. It is clear again now! Please will everybody who is sending me PMs understand that there is going to be no Fulham preview at this rate! (and that includes the guy signing himself stir ;-) )

Pugg Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 They are also believed to have bid for a left back and it is NOT Warnock possibly NZogbia from NUFC. As well as Bridge?
tony gale's mic Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I hope City take Bentley for £19m - Rovers will get the balance of the full £17m on the nail I believe. How does that work? Did we sell him with a sell-on clause? An extra £7 million in our coffers without losing a player would be huge.
philipl Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 How does that work? Did we sell him with a sell-on clause? An extra £7 million in our coffers without losing a player would be huge. I believe that if a player gets sold on whilst cash is still outstanding to the club who previously sold him, it is common for the first selling club to require all outstandings to them to be settled first.

But surely that £7 million or so would still need to be paid to Arsenal? Whose coffers would that come out of?
philipl Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 But surely that £7 million or so would still need to be paid to Arsenal? Whose coffers would that come out of? That got settled (if it was that much) I believe out of the first tranche from Spuds. Rovers are probably due half the £15m plus the £2m booster to £17m if Spurs sell Bentley now.
1864roverite Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 As well as Bridge? the word possibly says it all, he wasnt sure but thought it was Nzogbia unless he is wanted for a midfield slot on the left ??
The Prof. Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 If that happens Newcastle will go down. Given is worth more points to them than Friedel was ever worth to us. Agreed - suicide!
Pugg Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 the word possibly says it all, he wasnt sure but thought it was Nzogbia unless he is wanted for a midfield slot on the left ?? It'd be nice to be able to afford to bid on a few players for one position.
Driftpeasant Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 It'd be nice to be able to afford to bid on a few players for one position. That's why I bought Football Manager!
Stuart Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I'm beginning to think we did well to get a point against Hull earlier in the season. Villa are struggling this second half.
