Blue n White Rover Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Stoke 0 Liverpool 0. Now that was a performance against Liverpool- losing 1-3 at home was not. Spurs back in the relegation zone. I always thought that all the hype of us playing a great game against Liverpool was a complete load of balloney. We had been dire before and we just rubbish against Liverpool but for Ince that was a temporary job saving triumph. Ince really was the reincarnation of Jim Iley. Shame he lasted more than 42 days at the club. That's the difference Xabi Alonso makes to the Liverpool side. Unlucky with a few chances today but still should've buried 'em. Without Xabi they didn't have the same link up play between the strikers and midfield. Skrtel was giving hopeless long balls up top to no avail. Good job they didn't sell him in the summer. Who was it that said Rovers could get him?

You could argue that they are not as good ot attractive as last years Utd, but they are currently the best team in the land - they win matches. Just becuase they draw one game against stoke (after thrashing Bolton and Newcastle) does not make them an awful outfit. We did put a good performance in against them. Nothing will change that. It was the Wigan game afterwards which did it for Ince (and the three games before Liverpool).

1864roverite Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 what the ! are liverpool doing not picking any strikers against stoke! rafa u knob we need you to win 5 or 6 zip u spanish tosser AAAAAAAhhhhhgggg be torres and keane up front when they play us And therein lies the evidence that the fat spanish waiter and his team will NOT win the league this season. he really has lost it BIG TIME
tony gale's mic Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 We did put a good performance in against them. Nothing will change that. It was the Wigan game afterwards which did it for Ince (and the three games before Liverpool). No we didn't. We had a good first half (which was partly due to Liverpool not being particularly good) and fell apart completely in the second. That doesn't qualify as a good performance overall. It's just an example of the usual bilge served up by Ince, only with a decent first half. And the way he kept going on about that performance as if we deserved a win out of it or played out of our skins (he was gushing in praise after the match, mentioned it before and after the Wigan game and has even mentioned it now) is just embarassing and is yet another example of how truly awful he was.
Blue n White Rover Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 And therein lies the evidence that the fat spanish waiter and his team will NOT win the league this season. he really has lost it BIG TIME Completely agree. His team are sat on top of the PL. The man has gone bonkers!
Hughesy Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Completely agree. His team are sat on top of the PL. The man has gone bonkers! Yesterday he lost his rag and spat his dummy, today he messed up by not playing his best strikeforce and today they should of been able to beat Stoke (Even we managed that one). United or Chelsea to win the league..... Liverpool are NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

United or Chelsea to win the league..... Liverpool are NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Yesterday, Rafa said what all Premier League managers think of Ferguson and what the officials think. He had the Spanish balls to come out and say that about him, where as many others haven't in the past. His best strikeforce is Torres and Keane. With Keane missing a hatful of chances VS PNE, Rafa decided to drop him. With Torres, he wasn't fit enough to play full 90 minutes, hence why he came on as a sub.
Hughesy Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 He shouldnt of reacted. Whats the point stating the obvious. He is just playing into Uniteds mind games. Just like Keegan did. He said Fact: Only Ferguson can complain about fixtures. NOT fact, Wenger also does it!! Rafa has also done it himself in past seasons. FACT - Rafa rotates his team too much!

Big difference between Keegan and Rafa. Rafa was calm and collective, where as with Keegan, he was the complete opposite. Ferguson's done it for years, he is feeling the pressure of Liverpool topping the table. Nobody expected them to be there come January, but they are - FACT! Just a little mind game from Rafa ahead of their big game VS Chelsea tommorow.
colbert Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 liverpool didnt react well to todays game against stoke. It seems a common trend when Rafa starts moaning, they do loose there way on the pitch. strange that is!

You don't think the fact that we only had 13 points from 18 games, had lost 5(?) on the trot and were next to bottom 5 points adrift had some bearing then?
Majiball Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Just read this in transfer gossip on the BBC: Tottenham will offer winger David Bentley to Middlesbrough in an attempt to seal the signing of Stewart Downing. (Sunday Mirror) and this: David Beckham is set to turn his back on LA Galaxy after convincing AC Milan that he is worth a permanent contract. (Sunday Express)
Stuart Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Tottenham will offer winger David Bentley to Middlesbrough in an attempt to seal the signing of Stewart Downing. (Sunday Mirror) Ah, happy days.
herbergeehh Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 That would be astounding. Deal of the month for Boro.
DeadlyDirk Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Suprisingly Bentley is on the bench today for Spuds, that may not be that surprising on it's own but what makes it interesting is that Lennon isn't playing either so I guess he is not even their 3rd choice right midfielder these days, probably completley given up on him for the left as well. Defoe starts, re-debut goal again anyone?
tony gale's mic Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 As much as I hate Bentley, he isn't being given enough of a chance on the right for Spurs. He's been played out of position so much this season it can't have helped him to settle in. Apparently right now Zokora is doing awful on the right too vs Wigan. I still think he's a very good player, but a combination of his own arrogance, not having the same quality up front to supply and being played out of position are whats cost him since leaving us.
AndyC Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 wigan have battered spurs in the 2nd half - looked very strong on the counter attack.
ScottishRover Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 wigan 1-0 spurs leaves spurs 2 pts ahead of us, we have game in hand
tony gale's mic Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Unless Harry signs someone tough tackling in midfield, they're in all sorts of trouble. Hell even we have Grella and Emerton who can play there and get stuck in. They aren't too good to go down, not by a long shot.

Hell even we have Grella and Emerton who can play there and get stuck in. They aren't too good to go down, not by a long shot. I think their home form will save them though. They're still pretty hard to beat at WHL. Still nonetheless great to see them down there.
Presty On Tour Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 The Bale hoodoo continues! Whenever he has started a league game they have not won since he's signed I believe.
Backroom Tom Posted January 11, 2009 Backroom Posted January 11, 2009 Not a bad weekend for Rovers all things considered, win our game in hand by a couple of goals and we move up out of the drop zone. Winnable few games coming up in theory as well. Fingers crossed but having our game called off could have been disasterous for confidence if other teams pulled away but now the worst that can happen is we don't make up the points in that game.
malk Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I frankly astounded that Spurs haven't gone hard after someone who can stick in a tackle in the centre. They haven't got any defensive players that aren't utter rubbish outside of the back four. Works for me though, nothing better than a 'big club' going down.
