American Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Lennon is Tottenham's best player by a mile : why didn't we insist he was part of the Bentley deal ? When he's great he's great, but a bit inconsistent. That being said, I agree that we should have made a bigger attempt to get him.

Mr. E Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 With people like Defoe and Redknapp, I think I hate Spurs even more than Newcastle now.
Eddie Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Results couldn't really have gone much better for us this weekend.
gumboots Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Results couldn't really have gone much better for us this weekend. Except for West Ham and City winning. Otherwise I agree.
Eddie Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I actually expect to eventually see Wigan quite close to us, so that isn't terrible. As for West Ham, that was a game in which almost any result was a good result for us as I also can see the gap between Fulham and ourselves closing.
speeeeeeedie Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Just had a look at the league table. It makes for an interesting read; Prem table 19th Jan. Bottom is 6 points from 9th. At the end of last season Brum went down in 19th with 35 points (discount Derby's 11), City were 9th with 55. This season will be ridiculously close. It's a good job it's this way or we'd have been done for with our start. We're still far from being out of the woods but I think we'll be fine as Allardyce has sorted our back line out. I'll not guess on who'll go down, but I reckon Sunderland are for it. They played well for a while when Keane left as the players probably felt a great sense of relief, now all the bad players that he signed have to perform.
Majiball Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 City Info Oh dear, is it all about pear shaped???
Rainmaker Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 You just got to love this paragraph... There could be one sticking point, as it is reported in Italy that Milan are only ready to sell to Manchester City because they are seen as ‘harmless’ in the race for top European honours.
RoyRover Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I see that Nigel De Jong is also set to join Citeh. The only thing he can be interested in is the money, because Hamburg are third or fourth in the Bundesliga and are 2 or 3 points off the top. Why would he want to leave a team challenging for a top European title and go to a team fighting relegation? £!
tony gale's mic Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I think Boro are certainties for the drop, West Brom and Sunderland will probably be the other two.

Why would he want to leave a team challenging for a top European title and go to a team fighting relegation? £! Money is of course one motivation, but the other point is that it's the premiership. The league is very highly respected throughout Europe and most players want to play here at some point, so when the chance comes they will take it even if it isn't for a massive side. Hamburg are doing well but they aren't a European giant, one could argue that long-term City could be just a good of a place to be as Hamburg. There are very few teams in Europe where there players are certain to turn down any of the established premiership sides.

I agree that the draw of the Premiership is huge, but it's not like he's playing in Slovakia and Slovan Bratislava are challenging for the league. He could win one of the biggest league titles in world football, but decides that a relegation battle is more appealing. Maybe he saw it as his only chance to play in the league. Either way, I think the pound signs had more of a say in the situation.
Rovermatt Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Another embarrassing display from Liverpool. They've basically handed the title to United, what a bunch of chokers.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Everybody knew Liverpool would whimper and choke. No great surprise.
Grabbi Graeme Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Kaka staying according to Berlusconi Where is that? SSN are reporting that the AC Milan owner Burlasconi has been on Italian TV to confirm Kaka doesnt want to leave and will stay at the club.
Bobby G Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 There is still loyalty and brains in football. Class act by Kaka. If he is going to leave at least leave for a team on the same level. Loving how the City faithful are feeling especially the idiotic people behind the move. They probably thought money buys everything. Ya, maybe. But not Kaka.
AndyR Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Kaka on BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ity/7838966.stm
RoyRover Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Haha City, Kaka doesn't want to go to you. You must feel foolish.
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Official the deal is over http://www.mcfc.co.uk/default.sps?pagegid=...;newsid=6625476 How embarassing for City all that cash and still players snub you. Fair play to Kaka he seems to really have his head screwed on and clearly loves being at Milan.
