Exiled_Rover Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Jeez, turning down £500k a week. I couldn't do that.
Hughesy Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Just think how many shirts city have already sold with Kaka on their back - ha ha ha just love it. Every credit to him, loyalty at the greatest level. Yes £500k is amazing but he is probably already on over £120k a week - he obviously feels thats enough as it is, which I agree with.

I saw a city fan wearing a shirt that said 'kaka 100'!!
Backroom Tom Posted January 19, 2009 Backroom Posted January 19, 2009 Brilliant, well done Kaka, show of true class for once by a footballer.

I read in the Mirror he's on 130k a week at Milan, along with his various sponsorships etc.
rebelmswar Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I think his own common sense ran out the winner in the end. You have on one hand the prestige of playing in front of the AC faithful in that wonderful stadium or playing in front of a bunch of deluded Mancs.
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Daily Mail claims Robinho has stormed out: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...s-training.html "The night of embarrassment left City struggling to find Robinho. Earlier in the night he departed their Tenerife base. Frantic phone calls were taking place last night to try and establish the whereabouts of £32.5million British record signing. Sportsmail understands that the striker has become recently restless at City, although the full reasons behind his sulk are still to be established. " Mark Hughes and his coaching believe they convince him to stay, but that appeared uncertain. Chelsea are likely to monitor the situation with growing interest." ==== Could be a load of rubbish and i'm rather sceptical on how true this article is after all the stories the Mail has been publishing about us. If its true though...
philipl Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 It gets worse for City. Robinho walked out of the training camp according to reports coming in now. De Jong signing for £16m . That is £14 m more than his summer release clause.

Grabbi Graeme Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Sky Sports are reporting that Arshavin would be interested in a move to Man City rather than Arsenal, if it is true then surely that's to do more with money, as Arsenal are more attractive on a footballing front than City.
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Kaka: “At the end what counted was my history, where my ties are and where my heart really lies." “I was moved by what fans showed me." “I am really happy at this club. All the messages I received meant so much and forced me to choose with my heart." “Going to Manchester City could have been a great project but I have prayed a lot in the last few days, looking to understand which was the right team for me and in the end I decided to stay here.” Source: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...icle2149288.ece From the same article: "Robinho’s future was on a knife-edge last night after a furious flare-up with Hughes. The £32.5million striker was raging after City went back on a promise to let him go home to Brazil to celebrate his 25th birthday with his family. Instead he was forced to join the squad on a training break in Tenerife. A City insider said: “He felt bitterly let down. As far as he was concerned the manager had said he could go then changed his mind for no reason.” " ======== Robinho vs Hughes, who would you place your money on? I think the owners will take the side of Robinho. Sparky's in a lot of trouble...
philipl Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Very interesting piece about the Relegation battle from the Mail. Emphasises even more how appointing an inexperienced unqualified manager put Rovers at a massive disadvantage. This is as hilarious an article from the MEN as you are ever likely to read. The portrayal of the way City (as opposed to the owner it has to be admitted) are conducting themselves is as far from reality as it is possible to get. It is summed up by this absolute gem: And to those who say there is no worth in buying your way to the title there is a two-word answer - Blackburn and Chelsea. Obviously the MEN journo cannot count to three! The Times- City confirm Robinho walk-out.
CrazyIvan Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Stop making me laugh... "That is why top-class internationals Wayne Bridge and ..." When has Wayne Bridge been a 'top-class' international? Second to Ashley Young and mostly left out of the England set-up. That is the funniest piece of journo-fiction I've read in ages. It might as well say 'May I kiss your anal ring, Sheikh Mansour?'
The Prof. Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I'm sure the mafia had a quiet word. They said 'Go' and were waiting to collect their 20m cut! Kaka is reported in a number of foreign publications to top the world players salary list at £750,000 a month or 12m dollars pa. With new endorsements a re-jigged wage structure and the new publicity over this saga a few other re-negotiated contracts and he won't be looking for milk for his cornflakes at Aldi. Add in a freefalling £ and I doubt if he'll come out of it too badly.
RoyRover Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Jeez, turning down £500k a week. I couldn't do that. It would be easier if you were already on £130k a week.
BuckyRover Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I love the assumption that there is a rich-o-meter and when you hit a certain level of "richness" you should no longer want a pay rise. Money is a gauge of success in our society. By moving to City Kaka would have become the richest player in the world. Are you telling me if you were on 100k per annum (a very healthy salary by anyones standards), you would turn down a pay increase to £500k per annum. Even if you have a luxurious lifestyle, a pay increase of that stature would change your life. I think Kaka is a lot more moral than most of Britain and the West. I think his religious views helped him come to this decision. But by doing so he has just made it very difficult for any "superstar" to go to City. I think there might be a queue of players looking forward to turning them down. It could become a status symbol (here's hoping! )
Guest Kamy100 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 City: "We Pulled The Plug" You have got to laugh, I would love to know what the "humanitarian potential factors" are!! It could well be true that Milan got cold feet, or that they have been used for Political purposes. However my feeling is that there are a few players in the world that I class as Grade A Players (Gerrard, Ronaldo, Messi and Kaka) these type of players are of course motivated by money but also want to play at the prestige clubs (ie Man Utd, Barcelona, Liverpool et al) I think that City would find it incredibly difficult to attract this type of player. They would be much better adopting a policy of trying to sign the up and coming world class players such as Aguero, Benzema etc.
gumboots Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Benzema's already fed up with Lyon's lack of success in the Champions League and wants to join a more successful team in the summer if they are knocked out this round again so unless city can persuade him they are genuine contenders in the next 2 years i think he'll head elsewhere.
Majiball Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Robinho vs Hughes, who would you place your money on? I think the owners will take the side of Robinho. Sparky's in a lot of trouble... If the Man City Board take Robinho's side, they start a journey down a road that will only lead to failure. Players should not rule the roost, just look at Madrid. Robinho has put on his website that its just a breakdown in communications he's staying and waiting for the club to sign a Kaka level player. Its time to rename Manchester City - Manchester Circus.
Billy Castell Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Maybe Robinho should choose the next manager, players etc. and before each match the manager should kiss Robinho's..........................you get the idea. Apparently there is a lot of 'strange talking' in that Cook interview according to the SSN chap on now. How much crap are West Ham in now? Their financial troubles have fallen off the back pages.
roversmum Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I don't care who he is but why should any player expect to be released in the middle of the season for a jolly home (wherever it may be) to celebrate his birthday? Edit - ah, so the plot thickens allegedly and it isn't just about a birthday. Hhhhmmm.
Hughesy Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Caroll & Nzogbia come to blows in training. Ha ha what is that clown running up there, fight club?
