RibbleValleyRover Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Bloody Liverpool putting out a crap side!
Presty On Tour Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Babbel missed a open goal with a miss kick a few minutes before Pompey scored!
Backroom Tom Posted February 7, 2009 Backroom Posted February 7, 2009 We seem to be the only team in the league who isn't picking up unexpected wins.
sambo Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Rovers slipping closer to the drop. Liverpool have no chance of winning the league, that side is p1ss poor.
Backroom Tom Posted February 7, 2009 Backroom Posted February 7, 2009 I still see Pompey being stuck in the mire come the end of the season, the manager is way out of his depth. 1 - 1 now
tony gale's mic Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Oh dear, Pompey are in the lead now...
sambo Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Plymouth etc next year Really can't be bothered going to Burnley either, although they could come up.
Backroom Tom Posted February 7, 2009 Backroom Posted February 7, 2009 Now that looks like relegation form if it stays 3-2
rover6 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Can someone tell me why Ryan Babel was such a highly rated player? My brain starts to hurt when I compare his lofty reputation in Holland to the so so winger who trips around for Liverpool.
thenodrog Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Can someone tell me why Ryan Babel was such a highly rated player? My brain starts to hurt when I compare his lofty reputation in Holland to the so so winger who trips around for Liverpool. Ditto Maceo Rigters.
American Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Not sure if this or the finance thread is the right spot, but I went on the Spuds site to see if tickets were available for the derby today. Surprisingly, there were, but at the cheapest price of 47 pounds for the back corner, I can see why people aren't rushing to pay that (myself included).
T4E Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Ditto Maceo Rigters. Reputation wise Rigters doesn't even touch the sides of the esteem Babel was held in. I too find it extremely puzzling. Kuyt is similar - well thought of before signing for Liverpool, complete @#/? afterwards. Maybe it's a Dutch league thing. Or a Rafa Benitez thing.
speeeeeeedie Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Reputation wise Rigters doesn't even touch the sides of the esteem Babel was held in. I too find it extremely puzzling. Kuyt is similar - well thought of before signing for Liverpool, complete @#/? afterwards. Maybe it's a Dutch league thing. Or a Rafa Benitez thing. I rate Kuyt, but am 100% with you on Babel. He is awful. He doesn't have the necessary b@lls to play top level football.
rover6 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Kuyt is loved by Martin Jol, too. I think Kuyt could be a decent player if placed regularly in the centre forward position - he's no right winger. Babel just bemuses me. But perhaps, he's just suffering from seriously dented confidence as a result of barely playing any football. His former coach slammed him for moving to Liverpool, saying that he wouldn't develop sitting on the bench - how right he was. As for Maceo - is he still at Barnsley? What a terrible signing (for us and Barnsley).
Guest Kamy100 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Arsenal down to 10 men, can now see Spuds going onto win this one.
LeChuck Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I too find it extremely puzzling. Kuyt is similar - well thought of before signing for Liverpool, complete @#/? afterwards. Maybe it's a Dutch league thing. Or a Rafa Benitez thing. Kezman and Afonso Alves did/are doing exactly the same thing as well, so maybe it's a Dutch league thing.
philipl Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Kezman and Afonso Alves did/are doing exactly the same thing as well, so maybe it's a Dutch league thing. and, cough, Johann Vogel, Dutch League player of the Year.
Commondore Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 and, cough, Johann Vogel, Dutch League player of the Year. He did however, play an important part in the Dutch leagues best side (PSV with van Bommel, Cocu, Alex, Park e.t.c) since the Ajax generation with Ibrahimovic, van der Vaart, Pineaar, Heitinga and Sneijder. That particual PSV side were one disallowed goal (wrongfully, if memory serves me) from knocking out Milan in the CL semi-finals the year Liverpool won the final after being 3-0 down.
