DeadlyDirk Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 They won't gamble on Ince after sacking Adams, judging by nicko's comments it could well be Sven, Souness isn't a bad shout but perhaps wouldn't come under the 'coach' category. Will they be announcing the name shortly nicko?

leftfooter Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Sol Campbell? I can only assume the 'coach' is referring to yet another candidate without the qualifications They would be mental to pick Ince, not even a blind man on a galloping horse would do that in their situation! That would be like closing the stable door after the Donkey (Adams) had already bolted.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 That'd be good. "Bring on the wa.....nderers!"
DeadlyDirk Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 It makes me laugh that SkySports reports that Adams considering quitting after not being given transfer funds to strengthen the squad. He'd been there ten minutes, is it all about money now in football? Stupid question I guess, of course it is. Still, considering what other managers such as Hughes, Curbishley, O'Neill (Leicester), Allardyce, Bruce among many others have done in the past after spending several seasons at the club I find it pretty dissappointing and disrespectful that Adams is spouting his mouth off about not having any money to play with, maybe if he was a better manager he wouldn't need it so bad. Adams has failed down the leagues at Wycombe and now in the premiership at Portsmouth depsite having the chance to learn under the media darling Arry. Can anyone seeing Adams getting another job as a manager in the next 3 or 4 years, he's going to have to settle for a coach or number 2 role to have any chance of building a reputation. He actually makes Ince look good and I'm not even being sarcastic. If Adams is ever given the managers job at Rovers then god help us!
begresko Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Nicko, fancie giving everyone a clue on the pompey situation? Would love to know so we can find out what sort of team we may be fighting against. Its not arry again is it?
philipl Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 You've not so much already been given a clue as the answer as things stand at the moment. I find the mourning of the death of the good young British manager a hoot. Hopefully we have seen the death of the bad young British managers and the good ones can now be given their chance.
nicko Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Will they be announcing the name shortly nicko? Portsmouth will be naming a new number two in the morning. This guy is going to work with Paul Hart...and then probably the new guy when he is clear. I'll be accused of all sorts if I say who the 'new guy' is likely to be - so I will leave it just now. The number two will keep you amused when you find out. I will post that on here about 10-ish.

BuckyRover Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I bl00dy hope not. They will obviously stay up at our expense if that happens.....
deftangel Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Why name a number 2 before naming the number 1? They might want to bring in their own man once they arrive...
T4E Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Or possibly Knox. Any of them would pretty much seal their fate.
Presty On Tour Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Kanu or David James - player manager?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Since Kanu is getting shipped off after his Nigeria antics... David James I could see. Not yet though. James/Ince dream team.
rover6 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Or possibly Knox. Any of them would pretty much seal their fate. Foxy Knoxy going for yet another. What a story that'd be.

Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I doubt he'd be "accused of all sorts" if it was Nigel. We'd be thanking him profusely.
nicko Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Ok...this is what I know...but what happens next is yet to be confirmed. Brian Kidd is due to join Portsmouth as assistant to Paul Hart. However the Rubber Dinghy Man is also going as an advance guard for Sven, a mate of his from England days. But Sven is yet to be convinced that Pompey is right for him - he has been offered a deal but is still haggling.
MI ROVER Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I'll be accused of all sorts if I say who the 'new guy' is likely to be - so I will leave it just now. Is this a cryptic message ? Dave Bassett !! with dennis wise if he breaks clear with Newcastle I'll be accused of all sorts if I say who the 'new guy' is likely to be - so I will leave it just now. Is this a cryptic message ? Dave Bassett !! with dennis wise if he breaks clear with Newcastle oh well brian kidd eh thats a safe bet for relegation then

ffan Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Q: What do Chelsea & Sharon Watts (from Eastenders) have in common? A: They've both f***ed Phil & Grant. Have left the building...
BuckyRover Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 do you never give it a rest? I think it's you that needs to give it a rest. Either that or go look in the dictionary at the definition of irony. It would BE ironic wouldn't it? He was useless here yet could have been part of a team that sent us down. Wasn't it obvious what I meant?
DeadlyDirk Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Regardless of his time here Kidd is a pretty good 'coach' as long as they keep him on the training ground and away from everything else he should do alright there. Very odd they are changing the coaching setup though before they bring in the manager, most managers like to bring in their own men, wouldn't Sven want his mate Tord? Personally I still don't mind Sven, I think he's better than Pompey and should bide his time.
