Grabbi Graeme Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I think it's you that needs to give it a rest. Either that or go look in the dictionary at the definition of irony. It would BE ironic wouldn't it? He was useless here yet could have been part of a team that sent us down. Wasn't it obvious what I meant? The only team that can send Blackburn Rovers down is Blackburn Rovers, we are still in a good postion and I think have the squad to pull us out of finishing in the bottom 3.

awhom111 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Ok...this is what I know...but what happens next is yet to be confirmed. Brian Kidd is due to join Portsmouth as assistant to Paul Hart. However the Rubber Dinghy Man is also going as an advance guard for Sven, a mate of his from England days. But Sven is yet to be convinced that Pompey is right for him - he has been offered a deal but is still haggling. We'll help Sven decide by destroying his Mexico side. The problem isn't that he is capping every Argentine and Brazilian (even the decidedly mediocre ones) that has done their five years in Mexico (and every American citizen who is eligible to play for Mexico), but that he had trouble getting out of a four team group with Jamaica and Canada in it. Rumor has it that a loss in this one against the USA will send him packing. Now just imagine if he had found a way to call up the likes of Saha and Malbranque to the England squad back in the day. That would have been taken quite well.
thenodrog Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Personally I still don't mind Sven, I think he's better than Pompey and should bide his time. Nice chap. But from what I've seen he's tactically inept. Now just imagine if he had found a way to call up the likes of Saha and Malbranque to the England squad back in the day. That would have been taken quite well. He could have used Cudicini and Di Canio. We have seen all this before of course with Wales and Eire.

There was an article recently from David Davies that while in charge of England Sven wanted to call up Carlo Cudicini, Edu, Steed Malbranque and Louis Saha once they had done 5 years in England. Saha and Edu were then capped by their own countries however. Certainly would have been an interesting looking England team if Sven had got his way, I'm glad he didn't, that's not how I think the national team should be picked. Edit: Here is the article by the way, http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_4217935,00.html

Hardly quote third from bottom as a good position.
philipl Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I see Karren Brady was re-arrested yesterday as part of the continuing Police investigations into football corruption.

We might have won something in with Di Canio on the left. Even more so if Giggs had not been persuaded to play for Wales by his Dad and the old RFW.

Even more so if Giggs had not been persuaded to play for Wales by his Dad and the old RFW. Didn't Giggs play for england till 16 thern changed to Wales because he had no right to play for england. Wasn't he born in wales to welsh parents with a grandfather from S. Leon. I know he changed his name to his mothers after his father left them.

I think he only played for England at Schoolboy level because he went to school in England.
nicko Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Oh really? http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8...4913789,00.html Man the rubber dinghies.

Thats right. school boys play for the coutry their school is based in. Oh really? http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8...4913789,00.html Man the rubber dinghies. I'd have kept adams over Kidd.
philipl Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 What's wrong with Kidd as a no.2? Nothing so long as it is relegation no.2 as a coach.
Grabbi Graeme Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Hardly quote third from bottom as a good position. Better than 2nd bottom or bottom though, what I meant was we are in a position to get ourselves out of this but we cant rely on other teams around us dropping points.
blue/white Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Portsmouth will be naming a new number two in the morning. This guy is going to work with Paul Hart...and then probably the new guy when he is clear. I'll be accused of all sorts if I say who the 'new guy' is likely to be - so I will leave it just now. The number two will keep you amused when you find out. I will post that on here about 10-ish. Tony Parkes????? Phil Parkes????

Talksport claimed earlier tonight it was Brian Kidd and a bloke from Corals said there'd been a huge punt on Roy Keane in from 66/1 to sixes today. The bloke from Corals thought this might be significant because Kidd has apparently been an assistant to Keane in the past? Wasn't aware of that but there you go. Elsewhere it was also said tonight poor old Joe Kinnear will have to undergo heart bypass surgery leaving Chris Hughton in temporary charge.

I would have thought he meant he was assistant manager at Man Utd when Keane was there.
tony gale's mic Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 If USA beat Mexico today I'm gonna be backing Sven, he's got good odds on betfair. Might even stay up for it...
American Rover12 Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 OHHHHHHHH USA....USA...USA...USAAAAA
67splitscreen Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 What is it with some footballers. Can they not get there oats like most other men do. Marlon King
67splitscreen Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Appiha no luck with spuds, now Le arse to take a dip. We really could do with this fellow rite now, 60k or not, he would give us that much needed MF who can operate box to box at Prem level. Link
dudedog Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 sven being backed again for the pompey job, wonder if he is on his way?? or maybe roy keane?

LeChuck Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Appiha no luck with spuds, now Le arse to take a dip. We really could do with this fellow rite now, 60k or not, he would give us that much needed MF who can operate box to box at Prem level. Link I wonder how easy it would be to structure some kind of deal with Appiah, he must be getting desperate for a club by now. I wonder if we could say something like...we'll give you £20,000 a week, but if we stay up we'll give you an extra £40,000 for every league game you played in. Could we do that? Would he accept it? I just don't think we could pay £60k a week and get relegated, it's too big a risk.
Oklahoma Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 He probably is very desperate... Today there was news that Zoro still wants to go to England in the end of the season and that he wants to play to be an option for the 2010 world cup. Appiah probably feels he has to play somewhere.
