I wonder how easy it would be to structure some kind of deal with Appiah, he must be getting desperate for a club by now.

I wonder if we could say something like...we'll give you £20,000 a week, but if we stay up we'll give you an extra £40,000 for every league game you played in. Could we do that? Would he accept it?

I just don't think we could pay £60k a week and get relegated, it's too big a risk.

Couldn't we even afford a short-term contract - 60k a week for 3 months (13 weeks) works out at 780k. That way he gets a club to play for and the chance to put himself in the shopwindow. He's the sort of signing you'd expect Sam to make. 780k is not a lot of money when we're talking about survival.

Just to repeat what I posted a few days ago, even after a month of intensive training at Spurs, Appiah was nowhere near the fitness level needed to break into the Spurs first team squad. His agent demanded a minimum of £60K a week for him to stay and he is now training with the money-no-object Russian Champions Rubin Kazan where it is anticipated he should reach match fitness in time for the start of the season in March.

BBC piece on the problems at Portsmouth

Ok...this is what I know...but what happens next is yet to be confirmed.

Brian Kidd is due to join Portsmouth as assistant to Paul Hart.

However the Rubber Dinghy Man is also going as an advance guard for Sven, a mate of his from England days.

But Sven is yet to be convinced that Pompey is right for him - he has been offered a deal but is still haggling.

nicko, i have had a few calls from clients of mine who are telling me that they are taking bets on Neil Warnock for the pompey job from a few strangers

any depth in this?

Be very surprised at that one.

Saying that, I see William Hill's now have him at 8/1

wouldnt be surprised with anything pompey do at the moment, totally skint and cant afford a top manager, so why would sven be interested in going there??

no money, no transfer kitty - not his type of team (there again neither are mexico)

anyhow, i have had a couple of quid on crazy warnock just in case

Appiha no luck with spuds, now Le arse to take a dip.

We really could do with this fellow rite now, 60k or not, he would give us that much needed MF who can operate box to box at Prem level.

Maybe not if no ones picking him up. I doubt the money is the only issue as to why he's not been signed somewhere.

Just thought, did Brian Kidd work under Warnock not long back.....The plot thickens

There is no way Simon Jordan would let Warnock go willing, could be looking at another Bruce situation when he left palace!

Jordan applied for and was granted an injunction to stop Bruce immediately working for a rival club. The High Court then ordered a 2 month period of garden leave, so it didn't really effect Bruce all that much - although my memory might be playing tricks on me.

As for Dowie however, that was a case of Chairmen 1-0 Managers.

The other thing to consider is that Jordan is planning to quit football sometime soon. Maybe Warnock has one eye that?

Warnock thought he was going to Portsmouth once before - when Redknapp was being lined up for a return.

Perhaps he ishaving his revenge by leaking this one.

Maybe his agents are at it...

Sven is the favourite, but Hart may have a chance if he beats Man City.

Remember, this is a club for sale. Short-term solutions may be best.

Rumours of a dressing room split at Chelsea have been greatly exaggerated.

Hmm..

I thought Terry got off far too lightly for his performance for England on Wednesday. Jagielka copped it for being naive against David Villa but I thought Terry was equally culpable and as Sam Allardyce pointed out, Terry simply wasn't where he should have been for Spain's second.

Sam did well on the ITV panel in the face of the inanities of Townsend and Sherringham. I like to see Rovers managers raising their own and the club's profile like this. Hughes and Souness always did the club proud as well.

I have to admit that I used to enjoy watching Souness on TV as a pundit while he was our manager and still do. I get the same enjoyment watching Big Sam because he says it how it is and is invariably correct in his assessment rather like Souness.

I'd like to know why ITV employed three pundits for about thirty seconds worth of analysis.

I'd prefer my manager to get on with managing Blackburn and not peeing around with pointless, throwaway punditry.

What else would he have been doing on a Wednesday evening in international week?

so there wasnt any players where he was watching?

Well I don't have any problems with him doing the punditry, I was just answering the question about what else he could've been doing. But I think the players on display in that game are hardly going to be players we're looking to sign.
